Do you know da way? Do you know about pokè? Fun fact, in Hawaiian pokè means "ocean fish" and in Japanese it actually means "diced raw fish." Just kidding I just made all of that up, I don't speak Hawaiian or Japanese and I have no idea what "pokè" means. But what I do know is that it is delicious and that you should try it if you like sushi / sashimi. This west coast / Cali food trend is making its way east and is present here in the metro at a few restaurants. Okay so I just looked it up and apparently the word pokè is Hawaiian and it means "to slice or cut." So there you go, you're welcome. ANYWAY, came here to this joint to try their poke bowls. THE SPOT Located in a small strip mall, there was ample parking. The interior was small but clean and the owners are very friendly. As we sat at our table several regular customers came in and were on a first name basis with the owners. So they got that mom and pop thing going on here, you know keepin' it real, keepin' it local and all that jazz. THE FOOD The SO ordered the chicken bacon ranch sandwich for $6.59 which comes with a bag of chips. I had a bite and it was tasty. Although side note for that price I prefer Firehouse Subs. For my pokè bowl, I ordered it on white rice but you can choose salad as your base instead if you want. I added onion, masago (red roe), green onion, original sauce, spicy sauce, and spicy mayo. Also got some pickled ginger and wasabi on the side. For no extra charge you can also add avacado, imitation crab, cucumber, edemame, fried onion, sesame seeds, and nori furikake. Pokè bowls here are $11. If you post a picture of your poke bowl to social media they give you a $1 off discount. Compared to the typical pokè bowls you will find in Hawaii, the salmon and tuna here were in decent sized chunks and tasted very flavorful and fresh. I would have liked a little more saltiness in their sauces which are sesame oil based but they were delicious nonetheless. The portion of rice was smaller than I was expecting but I don't eat large portions of food anyway so it wasn't an issue for me. But if you like a lot of food for your meals, this might be a little light for some. For $10 it is a little pricey for me but compared to the prices you will pay for a pokè bowl at the few mid-tier sit down Japanese restaurants that serve it here in the metro area, the price is pretty fair IMO. I imagine that sashimi grade tuna ain't cheap round here, we are pretty far from the ocean, nahmsayin? I've gotten the poke bowls here way too many times--they're so good and so fresh! They start you off with a little sheet of paper to select the components of your poke bowl. I always get salmon, because it's just delicious. But really, all of their fish options are so fresh! I also get my sauce on the side, because I like to gauge how much I want in ratio with my fish so it isn't over powering (you just mark it on the side that you would like sauce on the side). The fish seemed pretty fresh (considering we are land locked). And the portion was a good amount too. I was able to get it with crab salad, fried onions, masago, sesame seeds, lettuce, and the sauces. I only wish there was some seaweed salad I could put it in. I have been meaning to review this place for ages. I came here a few moons ago to try out the Poke Bowl and I was impressed with both the quality & price. They came around with sheets of paper to 'check mark' what we wanted on the poke bowl. When it came out, I found the food to be DELICIOUS. What really sets this place apart, though, is the phenomenal customer service. Immediately after leaving The One Cafe, I realized I had lost my occlusal guard (let's just say a fancy 'retainer') and contacted the owner immediately. He apologized because they had recently thrown out the trash and stated my guard was thrown out, too! I was so sad because my guard was SO expensive. Low and behold, almost 2 hours later the owner contacted me and stated he FOUND my occlusal guard. He went to the dumpster to look for it and couldn't find it, and later checked in a trash bag still in the restaurant. I have never known an owner of a business to be so kind and thoughtful...and dig in the dumpster for a customer. Thus, I highly recommend going to The One Cafe for not only their delicious food, but great customer service. 5/5 And yeah, I get it. My wife and I both ordered our own custom poke bowls. Each bowl can be outfitted with rice or greens as the base, followed with a number of proteins, including shrimp, crab, scallops, tuna, and salmon. My first experience with a poke bowl and now I get it all of the time, but only at this restaurant. I figure if you've had the best, why go anywhere else. The ordering process is easy. They give you an order slip and you just circle what you want. Super simple. The restaurant is not very large so be aware of that if you are thinking of going in a large group to dine in. Just ordered from here for the first time. We order two pokie bowls, puppies love crepe, and a passion fruit mango boba drink. The pokie was not so great, definitely not the best. They completely forgot to put sauce on one and only put the spicy mayo on the other. Instead of putting the edamame in the pokie bowl they put it in a small bag. So we had to peel it and add it to the bowl. The seaweed salad was horrible. I'm about 99.0% they use the seaweed salad from Costco because I had it before. Besides it being dry, the Costco seaweed salad they use made it very unpleasant. Also, idk if it matters but the pokie does not come in a bowl. It came in the square styrofoam container hot food normally comes in. The boba drink was extremely watery. I don't know how that happened because we asked for little ice. And, the bobas seemed like they had been in liquid for a while because they were already soggy and absorbed when we received the cup. The crepe was the only thing that was worth it. The One Cafe was one of the first places to offer poke bowls in Oklahoma and man, they do not disappoint! I really like how they give you an option to choose two proteins (you get a choice between tuna, crab salad, scallops,and spicy tuna) at no extra charge. I usually get the tuna and the scallops. Holy crepes!! This place is fantastic. It's a little hole in the wall, but the owners are very kind and the good is A-mazing. Breakfast, lunch, dessert crepes; salads and sandwiches are also available. I go with the great spicy chicken crepe (which is hot) minus the cheese and the spicy mayo on the side. The chicken and shrimp salad rolls are fabulous and so is the turkey cranberry sandwich. We are so stuffed when we are done that we can't even fathom a dessert crepe. We definitely will be going back for dessert only sometime, but the hot crepes are just as good!! Make sure you go with plenty of time, or call in your order ahead to go. It's has been super packed both times and because it is just the two owners doing everything it can be a bit time consuming, but not too bad. Honey chicken sandwich (5/5): I was debating giving it a 4, but I just couldn't think of anything that would knock it down a star. The bread? On point. Pliable enough to easily break and chew, but not all soft and mushy. The chicken is tender and the honey mustard, honey, and light bbq sauce on the sandwich just fills it out so perfectly. I love eating here. It is both affordable and delicious. My favorite thing is how I can customize my poke however I like it. There's plenty of protein, toppings, and sauces to choose from. I get really full off of one bowl which would be $11. Usually when I go out and eat sushi my bill ends up being around $20. It's perfect if you want a quick sushi fix but don't want to spend a lot of money. Don't be intimidated that it's a tiny little space next to a donut shop. Best poke in the OKC metro area. Tucked away in a strip mall off of 15th, it looks inconspicuous from the outside, but inside is some great poke and some wonderful people. I say the poke is the best because it is the freshest I've had around here. The salmon was buttery and the veggies were all fresh and delicious. I LOVED the crab salad - not too sweet/mayonnaise-y like other poke restaurants in the area. You can also get a $1 discount for posting a pic to Instagram or Facebook! We obviously did not try the right thing's, by reading the review's. Unfortunately the thing's we did try were not that good. We tried the savory crepe w/turkey, avocado, ect. The crepe was good, but over all lacking. I got a small cup of broccoli cheddar soup, which was all cheddar. On the to go menu it says all sandwiches are served hot. Not true. I got the chicken salad on sourdough, it was ok, but chicken was kind of rubbery. My husband tried the honey chicken on wheat, same, chicken texture was off. This was my first visit to The One Cafe. First thing I noticed was this was a small restaurant with an interesting menu. All of the seats were taken so I ordered mine to go. I had the Chicken Bacon ranch sandwich on sour dough bread and the soup of the day Cheddar Broccoli. This came with a 20 oz soda for about $9. From what I could tell everything was made fresh. The sandwich was surprisingly large and full of shredded chicken, onion, ranch sauce and a nice portion of crispy bacon. The Cheddar Broccoli soup was delicious. I really wanted to try one of their dessert Crepes but it wasn't in the cards that day. I saw some people order a few and they looked awesome. I'll definitely be back for some Crepes in the near future. The One Cafe isn't really somewhere I would go for a dinner but it seems like a great place for lunch.
