This review is long overdue, but Deadly Wax is a 5 star shop. If you're looking for a mom and pop shop that cares about its neighborhood and its customers then look no further because the owner, Todd, might actually be one of the most welcoming record store owners in the biz. I usually come in to shop for hip-hop vinyl and 12's and I've been surprised by their offerings more than a few times. From Mos Def singles, to the Foreign Exchange, Lily Allen, Living Legends, Amy Winehouse, and NxWorries, this shop has a great selection of vinyl across different genres including hip-hop, jazz, and soul. If you're shopping for used vinyl you can test out the vinyl before you buy it too. read more

Been going to various Deadly Wax locations since their inception and have not been disappointed. They carry a great range of records, all genres, but a focus on the classics, with some new stuff thrown in there for good measure. Prices are fair and you can find some great stuff on random days (looking at you original pressing of Murmur by REM in pristine condition) Really friendly owner and buys records for fair prices. Small shop, but really pleasant visits and stocked shelves. A definite favorite. read more

Fantastic shop! The owner is incredibly cool and friendly, always playing great music and offering excellent prices. Every time I visit, I find exactly what I'm looking for, thanks to the owner's helpfulness and knowledge. They have a pretty nice selection too! What I truly appreciate about this place is that, despite its small size, the owner allows you to browse at your leisure without feeling awkward or pressured to make a purchase, even if you're the only customer in the store. While street parking is limited, I've never had an issue finding a spot. Love it here! read more

This is a super chill laidback vinyl store in a really nice location. They had a great selection of vinyls, the prices were a bit steep in my opinion. I wish they the option to preview a vinyl before you buy. I found the cashier to be somewhat stand off ish but nice once you spoke to him, which for a storefront should be the other way around imo lol. Cool little spot though. read more

Today was opening day with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and wow Deadly Wax is amazing! This new record store will definitely become a top spot in the Valley for music lovers. The store has a wide selection that has something for everyone, whether you're an audiophile or a casual listener. There were about 5-6 rows of bins that were well organized and had everything from classic rock, jazz, experimental, electronic, soundtracks, and classical music. There was even a small section for Three Lobed Records and some casettes. The family that runs the store is also very kind. Wishing them all the best in this venture! There is plentiful street parking in the area too, so the whole visit was a breeze. I definitely recommend coming to Deadly Wax for your records! read more

No skinny chefs here! These owners are the same kind of nerds that frequent record shops like I do. I was able to have several conversations about their records and was surprised that I couldn't stump the husband wife team. They probably talk shop at home. Who cares? The customers. The record selection reflects relevant new product and used collections of people who might not sell their prized records to just anyone. I was thoroughly impressed by the shop which packed a punch for its size. I mean, remember the Wherehouse? This shop has 3 times as much cool stuff as that place ever had even though it was 10 times bigger. Anyway, kudos to these vals for making going home fun. Came with a friend who's really into records. It's a cool spot with a lot of rare finds as well as some more popular picks. They sell records and a smaller collection of CDs and cassette tapes. This review is way overdue. I was in LA last summer with record shopping as a major (if not only) priority. Amoeba Hollywood has long been considered one of the meccas for record collectors and I was excited to spend hours there leafing through their bins. But I have to say, my best store experience was at Deadly Wax. What an incredible selection! Well-organized, reasonably priced, and filled to the brim with excellent stock. After less than an hour there, I walked out with at least 7-8 killer records. Todd, the owner, is just an all-around swell guy. He was welcoming, always smiling, willing to help you in any way to explore what his shop had to offer. Happy to have had the experience of digging there, can't wait for my next trip out to LA. My only two regrets was not having enough money for EVERYTHING I wanted, and also not buying one of their caps. Highly recommend! read more

I found a copy of the hand painted edition of Animal Collective's Hollinndagain, Oh Sees Songs About Death And Dying, and many more incredibly records here. Have seen even rarer stuff on the wall. Love the shop, dig the owners. Very cool peeps. My only complaint is that it's often very hot and stuffy inside. It's a small shop and when you get more than like 6 customers at once, the atmosphere becomes extremely uncomfortable. Feels like an incubus for viral plague, especially now with all the sickness around. Please get some fans, open the exterior door, turn on the A/C! Keep the air moving!
