Cute little cafe by the freeway. Had to drop by after seeing it while driving. This cafe centers its menu around oranges. The lunch combo is very worth it: for $10, you get a footlong sandwich + a small bag of chips + a drink + a slice of local orange + orange ice cream. The Orange Tree is probably one of the best "mom and pop" shops in the Porterville/Strathmore area. Regardless of the name, the cafe offers more than orange flavored items, like sandwiches. However, their sandwiches are not what you should be going for. What I highly recommend is their orange milkshakes and orange ice cream. If you're from the area, or just driving through on Highway 65, it's a must try. Enjoy yourself a very citrusy treat on your way to the Sequoia National Forest, or on your way back. This place is the probably the biggest hidden gem ever...but then again it's not really hidden because there's a big sign that says "Orange Works" that you can see from the road. It's like soft serve in texture and obviously made with fresh oranges, because you can see the bits of orange in it. It's the perfect balance of zesty orange and a little creamy, too. And the portions are generous. The junior size is $2.75 and is plenty for one person, but I wouldn't have complained about finishing a regular. Wish this place wasn't so far from home.
