We ate there this morning, it was ok. Service was good, food good. No rice,but thats ok. Potatos were a bit burnt, that and the bacon are precooked so was not so great. I came here Saturday morning with family for brunch. We ordered the Dutch Baby, the Peach Pancake and the Swedish pancake. It's hard to go wrong with pancakes and the pancake house did not disappoint. The Dutch Baby and the Peach Pancake takes longer because they're oven baked. Today I had the largest and fluffiest ham and cheese omelette I have ever seen. Delicious! The omelette filled an entire plate and was inches tall. And another plate with pancakes and a coffee cup that was never empty. I haven't eaten anything the entire rest of the day. My server was very warm and pleasant, even with an unexpected larger than usual Saturday morning crowd. I am glad I saw the restaurant on the way to the Univ of WA / Univ of OR women's basketball game Friday night and advertising at the game. Wow! My sister and I stopped in here recently and we had a great experience! Julie was our waitress and couldn't have been sweeter, more helpful or more efficient. We've gone to the one down in Anaheim, California and this place in Eugene was also very good. The interior was very down-to-home and the staff were as always, very friendly. Tried their pigs in the blanket and waffles this time and came out fully satisfied. I have eaten for many years. I have been supporting business during Covid by ordering to go. I always ask to prepay. I always ask to pickup at the curb or the door so I do not need to enter the business. There is no help here ... they will not deliver to the curb which is the same distance from the kitchen as to any of the far tables. It would seem the restaurant would accommodate the request of any customer if they did not want to advertise it. I am going to pay the same price, I am not going to take up table space when the capacity has been cut in half, and the person bringing it to the car will have spent 1-2 minutes with me vs 45-90 minutes if I sat down. I think someone at the business needs to change there customer service model and maybe should reconsider the I am sorry we cannot bring it out the door. It is literally 20 feet. I would love to know what the volume was today vs last August on a Sunday with the sun shinning. Now I know this business is or has been very popular. I'll start by saying that I don't like pancakes. With that said, I went to the Original Pancake House because my husband and cousin wanted pancakes. I was feeling a little grumpy and hungry but just not for pancakes. Honestly, my life has changed. After spending a fair amount of time trying to decide from the many menu offerings, I decided on a bacon waffle. Yes, a bacon waffle. My hubby and cousin both ordered chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream. We all enjoyed our breakfasts tremendously. The second time we ate here, I had another bacon waffle with real warm maple syrup. The syrup that's served with cakes et al. is also served warm and it tastes good but I'm pretty sure it's just a good tasting cheap-o corn syrup. Not my style, so it's great they offer real maple for a small extra charge. (Due to weather conditions during the winter of 2008, the price of real maple syrup has shot sky high. The amount of syrup produced was down by two-thirds.) The third time we ate here, I had Crepe Suzette made of three crepes filled with sour cream, hot tropical syrup (warmed orange marmalade) and powdered sugar. A little too orange-y but none the less, I ate nearly every last bite. I am so happy with this establishment's service. If you appreciate a quick, courteous waitstaff, little to no waiting time to be seated (even on a busy Saturday morning), and about a hundred different breakfast choices, then this is your place. With a nearly full house every time we're here, the ambient noise level is never deafening, our waitpeople have never made us feel like we're overstaying our time, and even though I tend to leave feeling a little sticky from the syrup, I leave happy. They also offer some buckwheat options, real fresh squeezed orange juice, real cream for the coffee and a famous Dutch Baby which I haven't tried yet - expect longer cooking time. A word on the coffee - I like to drink chocolaty, medium-bodied, brewed on the Pacific Northwest (strong) side, fair trade, shade/organically grown Yrgacheffe or Bolivian coffee. What they serve here is a medium-weak brewed generic arabica bean blend that's not great but I always end up ordering a cup. The cream is real, though, points for that. We've been back almost every weekend and every time, it's the same level of service and deliciousness. My Pops would have LOVED this place! read more

They just opened up an online ordering option through Hungryducks. I haven't been there in person yet and can't comment on their in-house service, so this review is based just on the delivered food. First off: I'm a HUGE pancake lover, and after trying out pancakes in a few other places in my area, I've been pretty disappointed in the quality around here lately. I saw the name of this restaurant in an announcement of new restaurants to the Hungryducks delivery service and just had to try it. I must say, I was entirely blown away. I had the "Two by Four" combo on the menu, which was 2 eggs any style, hot chocolate, two of their "Special Recipe Patty Sausage", and 4 buttermilk chocolate chip pancakes. I had the eggs scrambled, and while I wish they were a bit drier, they were still pretty good! The hot chocolate was pretty amazing, though it seemed like they forgot the whipped cream that was described on the menu. Either that, or it melted during the delivery (which would make sense) and I just couldn't taste or see it. Not a big deal! I got the sausage patties because the name intrigued me, and I'm a sausage lover as well. It tasted quite different than other sausage patties from other restaurants, but not in a bad way. It was still pretty good! And finally, the pancakes. It came with whipped butter and was supposed to have syrup as well, but that was forgotten it seemed. But it was like the pancakes didn't even NEED syrup! I had a few bites without any syrup and they just melted in my mouth, I was in heaven. I added some maple syrup from home and it didn't make much of a difference, and I feel like you can just leave off the syrup and it would be fine. The best part of the pancakes is that they didn't taste anything like the pre-made pancake mixes that you can get from the stores like Krusteez (ew) and Bisquick (not too bad). It's like they have their own magical recipe that comes out 10x better than the store-bought stuff. I'm pretty damn impressed. Four-stars were only given since I didn't eat in-person at the restaurant to experience their service and atmosphere. Will be sure to come back and update this review after I go eat there in person. read more

Waitstaff was friendly and fast, food wasn't what I expected at all, I felt like I had set down in my grandmas kitchen having breakfast, I felt so welcome, this is how service should be in a restaurant. Not really sure why everyone raves about this place... Overpriced and bland. All the egg dishes have two ingredients in them maximum. Had to pour hot sauce all over my green chile omelette for it to be worth eating. My boyfriend got a sausage and spinach scramble which was better tasting after some salt and pepper. His pancakes were good but small. NOT worth it at all, you're better off making breakfast at home. I happened to leave my IPad behind, and didn't realize it until I was back in Seattle later that evening. After discovering this, I called & emailed, hoping that they had found it. Best breakfast in Eugene. I recommend the Dutch Baby, the 49'er pancakes, the Mandarin crapes, the sour dough pancakes. They have an apple pancake that is as big as a coffee cake and could feed two people but is heavy on the butter. On Sunday expect a 20 min wait but it's worth it. They have fresh fruit rotating depending on the season. Everything is made on site including syrup both maple and fruit, and their sour dough. read more

I have been eating here since I was a little girl. I have always loved everything. My current favorite is the Irish omelette with potato pancakes on the side and bacon. OMG I could die just eating it. Who does not like corned beef hash stuffed inside a souffle omelette with Irish cheddar? Potato pancakes are silky served with applesauce or sour cream. I like it with sour cream. They get their bacon (which is seriously the best I have ever had) at longs meat market. Their crepes are perfect and served in many different verities. I'm not a huge fan of the French toast. It's not bad just not great. Home fries are also meh. Eggs Benedict is not home made hollendaise which is a crime. These are the only things I have negative to say. I am looking forward to trying their sourdough pancakes as I am a new sour dough fan. I seriously used to hate that stuff. Lol.
