Looking over the menu I see food unfamiliar to the average country carnivore. I started with a London Fog tea and they nailed it. It came out perfect. I then opted for The Butte. It came hot and steamy with the sriracha aioli adding the perfect amount of spice heat and flavor. The bread was fresh, the onions caramelized and the flavors blended very well. I found this to be an incredibly good sandwich, especially considering there was no meat. Huh, imagine that.... Yea, I would order it again [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only downside is that the door remains open and the flies are here. A fan over the door blowing out would solve that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. This is a small cafe in an unassuming strip mall in Eugene, however it ended up being a favorite spot during our visit here. A few mornings my friends got up earlier than me and brought back coffee from here, it was excellent. On our final day in town we decided on here for breakfast and I had one of the best egg sandwiches of my life. They're all made to order, and was made with perfection. But you do have to be patient as it can be a busy spot. I ordered the BLAT and it surprised by the flavor balance. It was delicious and I'd order it again. I've eaten plenty of BLT's and this was superior- I liked the amounting greens, the tomato fresh and the bacon was extra something. The sourdough bread did not cut up the roof of my mouth like many toasted sandwiches. The salad was good too- but this sandwich was excellent. Service was friendly, welcoming and helpful. I stopped in at this cafe after an eye appointment next door. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's very cute and cozy and wasn't too loud even though most of the tables were full.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was also nice and warm, which was very welcome since it was in the 30s outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cashier took my order quickly and was very nice. I got a hazelnut hot chocolate and the original egg sandwich, both to go. The hot chocolate was good and had great chocolate flavor - it didn't taste like it was from a powder. The egg sandwich was so good. It was exactly what I wanted - egg, cheddar, toasted bun, and a delicious garlic butter spread. The garlic butter was absolutely delicious and I wish I could take a bottle of it home with me. The employees all seemed to get along great and were joking around with each other and chatting happily while working. They all seemed very happy while working, which was refreshing to see in food service when so many employees are treated so poorly. I will definitely come back here in the future to try more menu items and to spend some time sitting to eat my food when I have more time. Very good breakfast sandwiches. The Butte is especially delicious and flavorful. And the sweet crepes are delightful. I also love that you can grab breakfast later in the day here. The Wandering Goat coffee they serve is very good, but never seems to be very hot, and we've had to request reheating multiple times, but staff is willing to help. Unfortunately, we've been noticing some things that have made recent visits not so enjoyable. For example, we have often heard employers using foul language behind the counter and badmouthing fellow, or, what I can only gather are former employees. At times, the customer service has left something to be desired. Some of the young folks taking orders don't always seem happy to be there. The service can also be very slow, even when there's not a crowd. I also wish they had a better system of bringing out multiple orders at the same time for one table. Sometimes, one person will get their order while the other has to wait a while longer. We want to continue coming here because the breakfast is delicious, but we just hope that some of these other items could be addressed. read more

This is a cute little locally owned coffee shop-style cafe that offers sweet and savory crepes, sandwiches, breakfast items all day, and vegetarian and vegan options. They also have an impressive short list of regional craft beers, a few wines, and a nice list of loose leaf hot teas. The staff has been friendly and efficient both times we dropped in to meet friends there this week. We enjoyed several different hot teas, a nice pint of ale, and two of their vegan option meals: the Vegan Break burger with a locally made vegan patty, and the Ranchero Crepe, which comes with a variety of choices for a side. Seating is available along the back wall inside or on tables on the open patio when it's nice outside. Parking is easy to snag in the attached lot. I hear that they sometimes host live music, and they were playing pleasant background music during both of our visits. A pleasant atmosphere overall. read more

My husband suggested having lunch here and I immediately dismissed it assuming that there wouldn't be any vegan options for me. Being the thoughtful guy he is, he already took a gander at the menu and saw that there were, actually, a few things that I could have. I went with the VEGANTASTIC and it was just that, TASTIC. So TASTIC, in fact, that I woofed it down before remembering to snap a pic of it. I ordered it with a side of tortilla chips and then promptly incorporated the chips into the sandwich, as you should when you have chips with a sandwich. This place seems like a great place to chill and do some remote work. Which there were a few people doing during our visit. Excellent coffees! Our lattes were creamy perfection. We didn't know they offered crepes(!) but smelling them and seeing them being made when we walked in make me want to come back soon and try them. The service was friendly-ish but lacked some something - I'm not sure what exactly, I just know it wasn't quite there. I think they were training someone new, in which case it makes a little more sense why attention would be elsewhere. Still, we've gotten used to a certain kind of warm Eugene welcome and didn't experience it here. It's good enough to come back and try again though. read more

Time for an updated review to say that this place is still one of my favorite cafés in Eugene. Lots of seating, both inside and outside. The music is good and not too loud, you can easily have a conversation with someone or work on a laptop with an appropriate amount of background noise, so it's a good place to catch up with a friend, work on a laptop, or read a book. The menu is robust and they offer tasty lattes made with Wandering Goat coffee, a great selection of beer and cider and wine on-tap, and great food options: everything from sweet pastries to savory breakfast sandwiches to lunch/dinner options and small bites, too. I generally find the staff to be friendly and mellow. On my most recent visit, I got a 12 oz pour of a favorite beer and my friend and I split an order of nachos and cowboy caviar with chips. I like that this place has a little bit of everything and is great any time of the day! read more

I really want to like this place more, but the food is just so bland. Last time we went, we ordered the chicken pesto crepe and the BLAT. Both had nearly no flavor and so dry. In contrast the next day, we went to Sip Champagne Bar and had lunch and the food was flavor packed and well done. The previous time I went, I had a Hefeweizen on tap and asked the kid behind the counter for a lemon wedge. He stood flummoxed at my request, and asked the girl next to him what a lemon wedge was! Then they both said they didn't have anything called a lemon wedge. So I pointed to the lemon and said a slice of lemon, then? Good grief. This location is ideal and it's nice to go for a drink with a friend, but the food could be so much better. I'm hoping they see these reviews and make some needed adjustments. read more

As usual, the food was excellent! I've been going for years and never disappointed. The service today was subpar. I ordered coffee, waited about 10 minutes of watching other people get theirs. I had to go to the counter and ask for it. It was very good once I got it. I know making crepes takes time but both table mates were fully done with their plates when I finally got mine. I got a cup of soup as a side. It was so hot, likely from a microwave, that the bowl burned my fingers. When I finished my crepe (excellent!!) the soup was still too hot to eat. If you are going to microwave something, do it in a separate dish and pour it into the serving dish. The atmosphere was wonderful. I love the artwork on display. They have local artists showing for a while then bring in new stuff regularly. read more

I may be mistaken, but don't you always have to serve food if you're serving alcohol? Anyway, this is happened to us at the last five attempts of going to 16 tons café. And I know it's at 7 o'clock but that's when I get off work and that's when I feel like having a beer with my wife and getting a crêpe . I will probably keep making an attempt to have a drink and some food at 16 tons. but if there is no food available I will go somewhere else like I do every time this happens, and that's what I did tonight. read more

Great place for casual food. The savory crepes are awesome. I'd never had a savory crepe before visiting 16 Tons, thought they were only for dessert. The coffee is amazeballs and I didn't even need sugar in it, which is rare for me. Patio is nice for hanging outdoors and the staff is friendly. In the evenings there's often live music and you can grab a unique beer on tap too. Something for everyone. Highly recommend. read more

Super slow service. I've been there on a fairly quiet lunch time and a busy Friday night and experiences were similar. Thirty minute wait for food once ordered. People in our party got food at different times so you have people eating while food was hot while others sit and wait and wait. The food is ok. Weird things like salad dressing in a thimble sized cup and scrambling around to find iced tea. Disorganized and unprofessional. My boyfriend and I came her for brunch and we were very disappointed in our service. First, we arrived around noon and the dish that my boyfriend wanted required chicken which they were out of... somehow already before lunch and dinner? After we ordered our food (I ordered a breakfast sandwich and he ordered nachos), we waited at least 30 minutes for our food when there were 2 customer before us.... When they did bring out food, they didn't bring them at the same time. I received my sandwich first and was told the nachos would be right out. So I ate my sandwich because I didn't want it to get cold, and when I was done, the nachos were nowhere to be seen. A few minutes after I finished, the nachos were finally brought out. The food was mediocre. They weren't complex dishes, something that should never have taken more than 10 minutes to make especially with how little people there were at the time. We were very unhappy with our service and will not be coming back. read more

I went here this past week with my mom who was visiting town, super excited to have some yummy lunch together and this didn't hit the mark tbh. The service was a little odd, employees bad mouthing management right at the register (from my experience in customer service this is a bad sign). Our food was mid at most. I ordered the pulled pork nachos and my mom got the B.L.A.T. The nachos were okay but nothing special, could've made them at home and saved some $! The sandwhich was a 2/10. So happy I stumbled upon this place! I first came here after one of my usual breakfast spots was closed and was pleasantly surprised with their selection of crepes. I had the 'to Brie or not to brie' on buckwheat, which was tasty but a little dry. Next time I'll try the regular batter. However to the highlight of this place, they have an excellent selection of craft beers and ciders on tap. I was very impressed that they had Stiegl Radler on tap, as I've not been able to find it anywhere else and it's one of my favourite drinks. The service was mediocre. From the moment I walked in the two workers were inattentive. When I walked up to order the person taking my order was rude and seemed inconvenienced. This was my first time here and it's a shame because the drinks and food were actually good, and that's what got my extra star. Have come here a couple of time and the food and service has always been top notch. They never rushed me when I routinely take way too long to order or when I ask a hundred questions on what certain things are. With that said, every time I come here I have been served dirty dishes, whether it's silverware, cups, or napkins. It's pretty gross and makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen and my food. Be aware and check your flatware, it could be caked with pesto or chocolate! I've always been a huge coffee fan. Most of my Yelp reviews are of coffee shops and cafes, just because I love adventuring outside of my university and exploring the area to find Eugene's hidden coffee shops. I've been meaning to check out 16 Tons for a while, and drove to the shop to get some studying done in the nice weather. The cafe is cute; there's a nice coffee bar with the option to get whatever espresso beverage your heart desires, tea, alcoholic drinks, and a nice spread of food. I was very tempted to order the crepes, but resisted the temptation (I had just gotten back from the gym, so applaud me for not giving in!) It was nice and clean inside, and the front of the cafe had plenty of seating with umbrellas under the chairs and picnic tables to drink your beverage outside. I brought my iced Americano to a table, took a sip, and was SHOCKED at how bitter the espresso was. With ever sip that I took, I'd make a sour face; it was so strong, and not in a good way! Even with cream and sugar, I couldn't shake the acidic taste out of the drink. Perhaps this was just something that I had experienced and in a latte the flavor might be masked with the milk, but the coffee that I had today was really, really tart and old-tasting. Overall, I don't see myself coming here again. While the ambiance was good, the girls behind the counter weren't super pleasant and the coffee was too acidic, so I'd much rather go elsewhere around town. Love this little coffee shop! They have amazing crepes and breakfast choices. They also have fresh juice and wonderful tea and coffee. Popped in this morning to grab breakfast with my daughter. Restaurant was clean and cheerful. Food came quickly and was super fresh. She had a strawberry and chocolate crepe and I had a banana and strawberry crepe.
