We were elated when this location opened because their original location is completely out-of-the-way for us. This location is minutes from us and our usual go-to. We have bought a variety of items, from scoops to ice cream sandwiches to pints. We have also brought family and friends who were visiting from out of town. Rainbow Cone has not disappointed. During the recent holidays, they had a promotion in which if you buy a certain amount of Buona Beef gift cards, you can receive some Rainbow Cone bonus cards. It is a great deal for us because we bought a lot of gift cards for teachers, family, and friends. My young daughters are a huge fan of the chocolate, cookies and cream, and cookie dough flavors. The Original Rainbow Cone continues to be one of my favorite ice cream shops in the area. My favorite order here, of course, is the original rainbow cone. I usually order it on a waffle cone where staff build it made to order with 5 different layers of delicious ice cream flavors - orange sherbet, pistachio with almonds, strawberry, and palmer house. Staff are always friendly and efficient here. I love the outdoor area for folks to enjoy their treats at. Will defs be back! read more

I had a junior stacked chocolate obsession ice cream cone. I don't like most of the rainbow flavors so I like that they have a few other variations that you can choose from. The flavors are: chocolate, cookies & cream, chocolate peanut butter swirl, and big muddy. My favorites were the cookies & cream and Chocolate peanut butter swirl. It didn't seem like you could deviate from their predetermined flavors. Which didn't make complete sense to me because what if I just want two flavors stacked? Service has always been friendly and quick whenever my family and I have stopped by. While there are lines at times, the staff is always friendly and tries their best to efficiently scoop and hand out the ice cream to customers. Not much to say, except in my opinion, it didn't taste anything like the original I used to get. It was smaller than the OG and it also wasn't as creamy. While I love The Original Rainbow Cone I have to say I was really disappointed in them today. I spent $30 on ice cream and even my 4 year old said "this is it?" $4 for a scoop of ice cream scooped with a tiny cookie dough scooper. I thought maybe it was for just the kids scoops (still crappy for $4), but nope. Used the same tiny scooper for the $7 ice cream sundae. Unless we're getting actual rainbow cones I won't waste my money again which is super sad because I think this was done wrong. I put it in my kids' baby bowl so you can see just how small it was. read more

I grew up near the south side of Chicago and Rainbow Cone was a treat once in a while. My Uncle Jake would take me and my cousin to the one on Western. I was thrilled when I heard they had one in Lombard but it took me a while to get there. It was every bit as great as I remember. The people are nice too and now in addition to the rainbow, they have donut holes, other flavors of ice cream, soft serve ice cream, ice cream cakes and a rainbow cake roll. read more
