I've been past this place before but never thought much about it; fairly nondescript from the road. Been to Ardy and Ed's and Leon's for root beer dozens of times, have friends in town, but they never mentioned it. Friday, so of course I got the fish fry special. Shrimp, perch, haddock, or all three. I got the combo. Perch was great. Shrimp was good. Haddock was okay. Done fine, thick filets, just not my thing I guess. Decent fries, good coleslaw. Coleslaw was small, but every other portion was big. I had leftovers. The root beer was great. Sweet, but with a bite. Refreshing on a hot day. Good service. Good prices. A bit out of the way, very old school, nothing fancy. But good, and filling.

However this time I was a bit surprised (and shocked) to find that I was charged for additional salad dressings to go with my salad. The salad was large I was given ONE small cup of dressing that barely did the job. I showed the waitress that the dressing just covered the large chunks of sliced meats and once they were consumed, the lettuce and remaining salad was bare. She brought me additional. I brought one of the small cups home with me and measured the contents and it was less than 1/6 of a cup. My surprise came when I got the bill and saw that they had charged me .79 for the additional small cups of dressing. I mentioned it to the host and he said, food is expensive. YES it is but so was my salad - $16.50 or so. My one ice-filled glass of cherry coke was $3.49.
