Had a overall good experience at Maciano's they never seem to disappoint. I've been here multiple times over the years and it never seems off. The food is decent and is affordable for Italian cuisine of the quality. I was especially impressed by the service they offer, they offer bread at your table, they are always on nice Aswell as helpful with everything. Cannot complain about my experiences. I feel like the one thing this restaurant could do to take it to the next level would be organizing, it seems sometimes when they get busy they seem a little flustered which is alright but overall I've never been disappointed with the food there. For a restaurant on route 20 that's affordable and tasty I cannot complain. Most recently I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and it was pretty flavorful. I would definitely order the mozzarella sticks again aswell they were decent. Overall a solid place to go if you're looking for quality food, great service, and an affordable date night. read more

We have enjoyed going to Maciano's for quite a while. We love the spaghetti with meatballs and the chicken marsala. They also have a great antipasto salad. Their portions are quite large, and we can enjoy two meals. The service is excellent and the staff is really friendly and efficient. read more

We really do enjoy Maciano's but it never fails when we place an order through DD we don't receive one of our items. I love the Caprese sandwich but I never receive it. We wait few months and try again and like clockwork they forget the sandwich. I know I could pick up to avoid this but when you order something you expect to get it. BE CAREFUL!!!!! We will never eat at Marciano ever again! Ever. We ordered a gluten free pizza for our son who is allergic to gluten. We told the waitress about his allergy. When food arrived at the table the waitress passed me his pizza and said here is your GF pizza. I confirmed w her, this IS his GF pizza and she said yes. My son started eating the pizza. A moment later she comes back and says, here is your gluten free pizza. In shock I say what do you mean you just told me and confirmed with me that this other pizza is the gluten free pizza!!? She just replies with " oh well I don't actually know". Immediately my guard goes up bc my son is allergic. She seemed to be so unaware what was going on. I spoke to a " manager" who could have cared less that we may be on our way to the hospital. The place was a total DISASTER with catering orders all over the restaurant. Definitely has to be some sort of health code violation. This place is awful, service is awful, management is the WORST. It has been going down hill for a long time but we definitely will not be going back to see it hit rock bottom. Not what I was expecting! I was thinking I was gonna walk into a fast food like joint. NOPE. It is so beautiful inside, the booths are HUGE. Everything is so pretty. Service was amazing, Katie was such a sweetheart! I love how they leave the olive oil on the table and the parmesan cheese. The pizza was really good, the bread was so good and the mozz sticks too. Stopped by to dine in. The place was pretty empty to how I seen it before. We asked for a table of four and the waitress told host to give her five minutes. The host told us waiting will be five minutes so we decided to look at the menu and put in the order so by the time we where seated we be close to have our pizza. The host told us we couldn't order ahead. We waited 15 minutes for the table and before anything they have a special going on with a purchase of a pizza with a topping you get one for a special price. The host had told us as long as we got two toppings on pizza they would do the special. We sit in the booth after we asked for a table and to kill it the booth table was wet since they just wiped it down. We placed our order right away and then the waitress was supposed to bring out fresh bread and she never did she just told us that we can't get the pizza with the special due to I don't know why but I was hungry and drove out of my way to come here since it used to be managed and ran better back then. The manager sent the waitress to tell me he couldn't do the special instead of the manager to grow a pair and come tell us. What a joke this place is. I asked to speak to the manager and it took forever for them to come out. So I left and I was going to call the owners and let them know about the issue and that they are loosing customers but I think the owners don't care since no one there to see what's going on and it must not be hurting there pockets. read more

I ordered the chicken Marsala. What I got was a very small piece of very dry chicken breast with pasta, ! ..to much pasta that was over cooked, not AlDante which I'm used to. It was not Chicken Marsala, Not even close. It was more of a garlic butter with scallions flavor mainly. My meal for about $18.00 was very crappy, to put it nicely. I will never spend another dime at this establishment. They used to be good but, lately just absolutely crap coming out of their kitchen. I have spent my last dollar here. Their Food is only fit for your toilet or your pet's survival. When I tried to call in my order on the phone for pick up the hostess seemed like she would rather have splinters shoved under her finger nails, Fkn rude! Save your $$ and spend it at Little Ceasers. Sooooooo good! I love the cheese bread app, pizza has been good and we have had some pasta dishes - we order a chicken parm or fettuccine and split it at home for best of both worlds. An earlier review mentioned the inconsistency of Maciano's, and I wholeheartedly agree. The pizza, in particular, can be hit or miss. We've gotten pizza from here that was excellent and at other times, the pizza was overly charred or the toppings weren't well distributed. There have also been times when the pizza crust tasted like a cracker and instead of minced garlic, there were cloves. The pasta dishes here are fairly standard. The biggest issue has been that the dishes are almost entirely the noodles. Certainly, I expect to have more noodles than meat or veggies, but I'd like to see more balance. If you are going to order pasta from Maciano's, I'd recommend the Fruiti De Mare or the Baked Lasagna. Maciano's does offer plenty of coupons, and the service is good, but until Maciano's can figure out its consistency problem, we'll only order out of convenience. read more

I got food poisoning very badly on January 21st from this restaurant. My friend and I ordered DoorDash last night and got a calzone and some chicken Alfredo and have been up throwing up and having diarrhea all night. Door dash only refunded 25 dollars of the 98 dollar order so I'm here to say avoid both DoorDash and this business for supporting that type of resolution. I think Rosati's delivered to our location, but we are not big fans of their pizza or their high prices. I am really super happy with the pizza we ordered from Maciano's! We went with 2 thin crust and 1 double dough and all were just amazing. The cheese was at just the thickness I like and the tomato sauce was just the right amount of tart. I wish we lived closer. Just finished dinner at Macianos. The food was excellent. As always the lasagna was amazing. My minestrone soup was packed full of fresh ingredients. No scrimping here. We were going to get the breadsticks in lieu of bread but our server was so efficient and had brought fresh hot bread to the table when she greeted us. She ended up bringing us both. I really, really wanted this place to be good. It's right down the street from our new house, and I really hoped for something tasty, especially since they offer gluten free pizza options for my wife. Unfortunately, I was thoroughly underwhelmed with both of my visits. The gluten-free pizza was "meh", and was even less appetizing for the price. The glutenous chicken parm was incredibly underwhelming and almost cloyingly sweet. It took a lot of red peppers, oregano, garlic, and other seasoning to make the leftovers taste somewhat decent. I had a large carry out dinner order and the only good thing was the pizza. The chicken parmesan was only half a breast and over cooked to a dark brown. It was served on fettuccine (?) We ordered fettuccine alfredo and it was very thick and dry. We had two orders of fried calamari, it was soaked in grease that went through the thick box and it still pooled at the bottom, it was overcooked and flavorless. DONE, DONE, DONE! We are done ordering from Macianos! They have had their last shot! Ordered a pizza from them tonight online at 6:36 pm. Email said it would be 60-70 mins. They called at the hour mark and said that the kitchen was behind, but they would have it out to us in the next 30 mins. I made it a point to ask her if my pizza would be hot and fresh. She assured me it would that they kitchen was just behind. Ok, fine. Pizza shows up at 8:05 pm. We bring it to the kitchen, and, low and behold, it is stone cold!! The cheese is all harden already. And, the last row is ALL over the box. There is NO WAY this is fresh!!! I called to complain to the manager. She offered to send a new one out. She says the kitchen has slowed way down and is all caught up. Now, we literally live less than a mile from this place. There is NO WAY that your kitchen was so backed up, and now in the 10 mins it took me to get my pizza that they have slowed down enough to being me a new pizza! We moved to Elgin about a year ago, and are still trying to find a go to indendant Pizza and Italian place. Well this won't be it. About six months or so ago we went in for pasta, on a Friday night. The place was super busy, a good sign. Well it appears part of the reason it was so busy is because of the length of time it takes to get an order. The food was just okay, not bad, worth giving another shot. First time, super busy, I'm willing to cut them some slack. On the recommendation of our neighbor we tried them last Friday for a pizza. Yeah, not the best pizza experience of life. Here's the 30,000 foot view. Called at 5:50, for a large large cheese pizza. I was told it would be ready at 6:30. When I arrived, I was told it would be a few minutes... told that again at 6:45... again at 6:55. Finally after asking for a manager he told me he was going to give me an extra large. I'm guessing mine still hadn't been cooked. If you were the one that ordered the xl cheese, sorry because I'm pretty sure he told it from another order. Everyone was nice, the manager did try to give me my money back. Which I didn't accept, I wasn't looking for anything free. Come on if it's going to take an hour and a half to get a mediocre pizza tell me that. I might go ahead, even if I don't I'm not going to hold it against them. There is no excuse for this, based on the other reviews it seems this is their standard operating procedure. IMO, the food is marginal, and the service is horrible. Really a shame. read more

I don't know why we keep giving this place more "second chances". We ordered from here a few weeks ago and it was great. Even my gluten free pasta was good. Tonight we ordered and 1) the order was supposed to be ready for pickup at 6:05. My husband got there a few minutes after and still had to wait another 45 minutes for it to be done. We live less than 2 miles from the place but by the time he got home the pasta was cold. Not even lukewarm. COLD. My gluten free pasta was so under cooked that it still crunched when I bit into it. We ordered here when we first moved in about four years ago. I was not impressed at the time. When I ordered for pick up I was told to come in 45 minutes to pick up my food. I got there and was told it would be another 45 minutes. It actually was 90 minutes. So 2 hours and 15 minutes later I had my food. It was burnt and cold (how do those two things even go together?). Anyway, my past experience lost them a star. During COVID-19, we decided to support local and tried it again. I was really impressed this time. Tonight, we ordered two calzones and a kid's meal with chicken fingers/fries. The calzones were amazing. I had the Italian beef with giardiniera and my boring husband had sausage. Their sausage actually has a nice kick to it and good flavor. My calzone with Italian beef/giardiniera was phenomenal! To battle our issues last time, I ordered today at 4:15 and picked up around 5:00 on a Monday. The fries were good and the chicken fingers were what you expect (clearly frozen then fried - I wasn't expecting hand breaded and this was exactly what I expected). This great experience gained them 3 stars. My only complaint and the reason I docked another star. On their website it says "For Curbside orders please pre-pay. Simply park by the entrance and give us a call. Stay in your car, we'll be right out with your order!" I got there, I called, and the girl who answered the phone told me to come in. It's the middle of COVID-19 shelter in place. We are supposed to be social distancing and she's telling me to come in. I told her no and sited the website. This is the closest pizza place to my house so I thought I'd give them a try. I'd say overall, not bad. I tried the thin crust - crust was so-so, just a little too crunchy for me. The sauce was good and very happy with the amount of cheese on there. I saw a few reviews where the crust was burnt so I'm happy to say that was not the case for mine. I'd probably try the double dough next time though. Delivery came super quick. The girl who took my order and the guy who delivered were both really nice. My husband and I have been ordering from Macianos for along time now. Service started out great but over time it has become worse and worse! March 6th we ordered lasagna and bread sticks. The lasagna was a child's size portion and the bread sticks could be used as hockey pucks! I sent a message to the restaurant along with the review they requested. At the end of my review it asks if you would like a call from location. I put yes. ONLY if they care to hear about my experience. Never got a call... That in it self should say enough! I've been in customer service fields most of my life. I don't believe the customers always right. However; I do believe when a customer is a regular you should probably do your best to at least reach out for a better understanding. Had they called and at least apologized it would have kept me from going to help with my experience. Have dined here in the past and had a lovely experience. This place has been a long time favorite. I don't know if management has changed since my last visit, but things have definitely gone down hill. When we walked in only 4 tables were open (half of the dining room was closed) and we were told there would be a 15 min wait. That 15 mins turned into an hour and we still had not been seated. There were 4 girls behind the counter, yet they claimed to only have 1 server... Kitchen looked to be full staffed, so I'm assuming this all due to bad management. The one server who was taking care of tables was working very hard and I could tell she was frustrated with the situation there. Wish I got her name because she definitely deserves a raise! read more
