Vulture hunting ground... The place is dirty, cannot make cocktails, baseless beer inventory. Do not bother attempting to eat any food here. Not just due to its poor quality and taste but also because there is no social boundary recognized or provided. My two friends and I were clearly just trying to grab a meal and beer to go. We decided to pop in to Moab's only dive bar on Main Street for a quick drink. The place is massive and old, it feels like it has been around a long time several pool tables face the long old timey bar. it has a quaint feel to it, many locals and tourists hanging out at the bar. A rad little local watering hole. I was looking to beat the heat and hide away with a cocktail on a Monday afternoon around 3. After looking at other options in the area, this spot looked the most fitting for me and cozy. There was only one couple at the bar (I mean it was 3o'clock on a Monday), but I could totally see how this place would be poppin' on a weekend or late evening. There was a music stage toward the back, a dart board, three pool tables and even foosball. There's lots of bar stools as well as private tables and an outdoor patio. They even serve food after 8pm. We asked around the town what place was open late and was told this was only one of two places open past 10pm. Hearing that we did not have a whole lot of faith. Luckily, we were pleasantly surprised. We pulled up to the bar and the service was quick and happy. The one tiniest complaint I have is when pouring a beer I would like to have the cup wiped off if possible to avoid so much mess everywhere. The band that showed up was impressive especially for such a small town. They had great sound and fit the city vibe. The bar was full of a ton of different types of people. The pool was quite cheap too at only $0.75. We would definitely come back next time we are in town not only because it's one of the only bars but because it was pretty dang impressionable. read more

We got back around 9 pm-ish from a Sunset tour of Arches. I pulled out the yelp app and everything was closed or closing in 30 minutes except this establishment. I have only been to Utah briefly before and on this trip was made aware of their strict liquor laws. Woody's was open till 1 AM on a Wednesday and served food and drinks. We decided to stop in and didn't regret it. We ordered the medium sized nachos and drinks. The food is at a separate window inside the restaurant and had a separate payment system. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because it took awhile to get our food. The nachos were solid though, kind of reminded me of pizza but still tasty. The medium size was huge, we could have easily shared the smallest. The toppings were plentiful as well. They are the only place open in town so if I'm being honest I was expecting much worse. Welcome to the only real bar in Moab...Sadly. Yes - There are other bars in various restaurants scattered about town. But Woody's was the only one open when I wanted a nightcap after 10 p.m. on a weeknight. I opened the front door and walked in to a wall of noise & music. And not entirely good music either: It was karaoke night, and the running theme seemed to be "sing as badly as you can," since there were lots of intentional, off-key, high notes. Cuz...haha...fun. The place was packed mostly with hammered folk, who were speak-yelling at each through the noise. I parked myself at the bar near the door, mostly on instinct. Service was semi-surly and very slow, and I eventually received a beer after about 10 minutes of trying. And...that's all there really is to my tale, since I left immediately after finishing it. Woody's is most definitely a dive bar. I actually like dive bars, but this one just rubbed me the wrong way, perhaps because I came here at a bad time. Sensing this, I did try to return on subsequent nights - twice - with my friend S. (who was curious) but the conversation both times went as follows: Door-Dude: "There's a $10 cover tonight" Us: "Is there a band?" Going on a limb to suggest that although regulars keep this place in business, many patrons are not local and visiting the local parks. I fall into the latter category but have found a place I love in Woody's Tavern and look forward to future weekend visits. Woody's is an incredible place. The look and feel are perfect for its location. A rustic saloon appearance and atmosphere with outdoor seating in front of the western/desert "storefront." If parking in the side lot, you can admire the mural of five guys getting drunk and laughing on the building's side. Enter through the front door, and the bar is right in front of you, running the south wall's length. Opposite the bar are two foosball tables and two pool tables then some booth. The bar and back bar are the real stars of this place. The bar top is a well-worn, carved wood with a short overhang and no rail. Though you're no longer allowed to carve, there is some fantastic artwork already there. Wooden bar stools with no padding or back support sit close to the bar face that lacks a footrest. Not super comfy, but perfect for the place. The back bar is dominated by TVs, menus, available beers, and numerous stickers from those passing through. The burger and waffle fries were delicious, and the beer menu is more than acceptable (note: Woody's is not a craft beer bar...it's a bar bar). Only 6-7 people when I visited, but the service was fast and friendly. I do not recall the bartender's name, but she was very social. Would love to have visited on a Friday or Saturday night, but will make it happen on my next trip to Arches. Woody's is a great bar in a remote location, but still one of my favorites. read more

They didn't have too many customers the evening I visited, but the service was severely lacking and they weren't especially friendly either. Karaoke is fine. The singers are mostly terrible but the atmosphere is supportive. However, don't bother tipping the Axl Rose wanna be DJ that sings Kid Rock's entire collection-- because he will skip everyone's songs unless you're a cute young woman with a decent voice. He told our group (that sang once) he wanted to give everyone a chance while scratching out a bunch of songs (not just ours) and would go up to the cute women and ask what they wanted to sing. Woodys is a Moab institution. The bar itself (as in the long wooden bar) is a work of art and cultural treasure. Every climber, biker, fugitive, and vagabond who has passed through Moab has carved his initials into that bar. They actually have a sign that says "Do NOT Carve into the bar!!" but it doesn't seem to be working. Moab is an oasis in LDS Hell and they have a great selection of beers at reasonable prices. Visited this place last weekend from San Diego California and met up with friends from Utah. We dressed up and I was dressed as Marty McFly (Back to the Future). The atmosphere was amazing. Drink prices were good. Felt like I went back in time in my DeLorean. Everyone was so nice from the staff and patrons. Met a girl Monica who made me feel like family. She was taken though. Bartender was rude to us immediately upon entering, asking for our IDs and then disappearing, only to come back later and chew us out for not showing them our ID. We waited for thirty minutes in line to just close out our tabs. Absolutely pitiful. Do not go here if you value your time because they don't. You're in Utah: bring your own beer out to the desert and drink it there. It will be a way better use of your time. read more

Best damn dive bar I've ever been to. If you need a cold beer, good conversation, and a place to rest after a day in Arches, Woody's is it. The bartender, "Tommy", is everything you'd want in a bartender. Friendly, engaging, and interesting. They have craft beer and some old standards so it is sure to fit your taste, mixed drinks too. The building and decor won't wow you, but the service will. We will definitely be back if we are ever in Moab again. read more

Pulled in here within a few minutes of arriving in town (first time here)... it was already pretty late (20:30ish). After seven hours on the road, I was in desperate need of a drink. In a town with few bar options (and most of said options close early, e.g. 22:00), this place fills a crucial niche by staying open till 02:00 (on most days, anyway)... a great spot to grab a drink after a day hiking at Arches NP or Canyonlands NP. Decent selection of drafts--the Woody's Lager (contract brewed by somebody else) was a solid go-to, and the Polygamy Porter was likewise tasty (while also poking fun at the state's unconventional procreation strategies). Special props to the old-lady bartender (I never did catch her name), who passed on some very useful intel about the town in general and about Sandflats Rec Area in particular--ended up camping there three days during my stay.
