I've eaten at The Pan a few times mostly breakfast style meals and I have to say the food is pretty darn tasty and this review is long overdue so here goes. Lucky me it's near my Condo so I can walk over and I can pick up breakfast lunch or dinner without breaking a sweat. After July 4 th breakfast at ihop didn't work out I went to the Pan but they were closed so of course I called the next day and placed my order. Using the Postmates app. Setup was easy but ordering was a challenge if you have special requests and needed to fix something. I ordered the lumberjack plate. With scrambled eggs it comes with two sausages two bacon home- fry potatoes and pancakes. I also ordered an additional side of bacon $2.00 - flavored butter .50 and a side of "real" maple syrup $2.00 The breakfast was good but the potatoes and eggs could use a bit of seasoning on them I added some seasoned salt and everything was delicious. The pancakes were fluffy and tender but having only 1 small syrup wasn't enough for me to eat two pancakes - it barely enough for one pancake let alone two but I was able to finish them using the jelly they sent over. ; ) yuup I put jelly on my pancakes. I didn't receive my flavored butter the one they sent was regular old butter y'all but I'll live. I also don't get why I have to pay for syrup if I ordered pancakes ? Like wth are we supposed to do eat them dry. Huh ? Usually I drive over to the restaurant but today I tried the postmates app out of curiosity I'm not sure I will use postmates again because they charged me an automatic tip and I had already given the driver a nice tip in person. I'll more than likely drive over and place my order from now on. I really want to try the blueberry stuffed pancakes with bacon and fried eggs. I would definitely recommend you try The Pan because they have a lot of interesting food on the menu a bit of something for everyone. read more

I am completely dissatisfied with the service I received today. With COVID, I understand I may need to wait longer. I understand that business isn't business as usual but it isn't ok to be rude to customers who are keeping you open and in business. I ordered my food online at 10:48 am for curbside. There was no indication of pick up time at the time of the order. Three minutes later I received an email advising me that my order would be ready at 11:51. I should be given an approximate "ready" time before placing an order. Now I'm stuck with my order. Ok, fine, I get over that. I pull up and call three times like the email directed me to. No one answered. I get out of the car and wait. Someone comes out and hands someone a pick up order. I say, "Excuse me, I have a curbside order but no one is answering the phone." Her response was, "We don't have curbside and yeah, we're busy." Huh? I was merely letting you know why I'm not following the directions emailed to me (see photo), and your attitude is unwarranted. She says it isn't ready and I have to wait 10 additional minutes. I get home and the food is cold. I don't live even 5 minutes away, maybe 2? The food is good. Always has been. But there are sooooo many other good breakfast spots on LB that I'm not sold to going back to this one. read more

Long wait for brunch food options you can get at any other restaurant. The service was super slow and understaffed!!! They either need to higher more chefs and staff to serve tables so the turnaround is faster. An hour and a half for the wait then another 45 minutes for your food to come to your table. I'm very big on service. Our waitress was OK. The food was really good. My only issue was the Bloody Mary that I received. It taste like water and tomato. I politely returned it. The waitress asked if I wanted anything else. I said "no thank you, because" and before I could finish, she cut me off saying, "you might as well get something else. We don't take the drinks off the tab". Umm, excuse me? So if the bartender makes a shitty drink, we're forced to pay for it or get something else ?!!! Will not be returning just because of that. She was acting as if I drank half of the drink and returned it. It was a FULL drink that I did not want. But was forced to pay. Never again. read more

The Pan was awesome! When we first arrived the hostess told us it would be 30min wait although we only waited for 15. Looked through the menu and my son got the peanut butter chocolate pancakes w/out PB and a side of eggs, his friend got the steak and potatoes, hub's got a meat omelette, and then I orders just one blueberry pancake. I knew I wasn't going to eat much so I've learned to eat a la carte. The wait for the food took a while but they are short staffed so I understood. Once the food came, it was delicious! My pancake was sooo good! Fresh blueberries and they serve their pancakes w maple syrup. All of us enjoyed our meal. Service was good and the place had nonstop customers coming in. Had a chance to try this place for the very first time, after reading the reviews. We had to wait almost 45 minutes, no surprise on a Sunday morning, so decided to sit in the counter section...the wait was definitely worth it...the server with the neck tattoo was friendly and engaged...she suggested the Short Rib Benedict....seriously yummy! I did notice that some diners were pretty picky and demanding, but our server handled it like a pro...it takes a lot of patience and commitment to service to handle customers like that! We came when restaurants were opening back up for dine in and I appreciated how they did their best to make sure everyone maintained social distancing and keeping everything clean and sanitary. I wish I remembered the name of our waitress but she was super friendly and nice. I came here because my friend raved about their loaded hash browns and omg they were so good! The aioli sauce that they add on top is my favorite. I loved that the hash browns added your choice of eggs, I got over easy and I felt like it was perfect with the hash browns. And the cheesiness was good too. I upgraded to a specialty pancake, which was the cinnamon roll pancake. I do wish that they added more cinnamon to the pancake, but other than that it was pretty good as well. I definitely want to come back and try their pizza as well as the other food cause everything looked so appetizing. read more

There are certain places you go for lunch and leave thinking "shhhh..it, I need to start working out." The Pan and their enormous servings of good food is one of those places. I mean, I started by cutting my juicy meatloaf burger with Swiss cheese and mushroom in half foolishly thinking one of the halves would leave in a doggy bag for a later time. It was only after I was dredging my perfectly seasoned fries through the remoulade drippings left from burger that I realized how my diet has suffered. Oh well, I will put the blame on the team of diet assassins behind that curtain. One of my favorite spots in general, let alone in Long Beach. Always a great time with great service. Definitely worth the wait whenever there is one. Amazing breakfast and lunch menu. Fun atmosphere with a great ambiance. Me and my wife go all the time and always ask for Nicholette if she's there. Such a fun personality and you can tell she takes pride in great customer service. She'll give us honest opinions according to what we're craving. Took me a while to realize she's a manager because she's so involved at all times. I recently took a trip to The Pan in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach. They're a dope spot that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day long. So no matter what you're in the mood for, they got you! I really dig their breakfast, so here's the sitch. This is one of my fave breakfast foods, so I'll most likely always order them if they're on the menu. So when I saw them on The Pan's menu, I did just that. I always also add meat to them and decided to go with Chorizo this go around. The Pan makes some solid chilaquiles. The chips maintained a nice crunch and weren't soggy. The chorizo was cooked well and mixed excellently with the scrambled eggs. I really dug these. It was my first time having this dish and it absolutely slaps. It's a bed of hash browns topped with bacon, sausage, two eggs any style, Jack and Cheddar cheeses, onions, and Chile Aoli. This dish is a savory volcano that erupts with flavor in every bite. The Chile Aoli added a nice creamy spice element. This is one of their most popular items and I can see why. I'm definitely a fan of this spot and will keep going back. They recently celebrated their 10th Anniversary, so get on down to say congratulations and show them some love! read more

We came to this place again after our first time over 5 years ago. Neighbor invited us to brunch. The wait time is a little excessive, to wait for over an hour to be seated means the food must be spectacular. Sad to say the food was so so, and the service was very slow. The wait time for the tables has to be a combination of either slow kitchen or slow service. I can't see people just hanging out there just to talk and drink. With the food being mediocre and the slow service I just don't see myself coming back to that particular location. read more

I absolutely love their deep dish pizza, definitely the highlight here! It is well worth the wait, I suggest calling your order in if you don't want to want, a large pizza can easily take 30 minutes. It also gets quite busy with a long wait for a table so I usually take it to go, quick, and easy it is always hot and ready to go when I get there. Service is on point, so friendly. I am a regular here at the pan. I come at least once a week if not more. They have a private parking lot and street parking available. During the weekend morning and lunchtime parking tell me a little bit tough but I've never had a problem finding parking. They have outdoor patio dining as well as indoor the dining. I love the Cozy feel of the restaurant. I haven't everything from their breakfast to the burgers to the pizza. Tonight I went for the deep dish Deluxe pizza one of the best around. As usual I had excellent service. Our server Destiny was exceptional. As well as the other wait staff. My drink was never empty and the food was served fresh hot and quick. I also wanted to add that there was an extremely rude loud and obnoxious table of eight younger women in the restaurant they were extremely rude to Destiny and all of the wait staff. Even amongst the loud obnoxious rude ladies. Destiny handle herself in an extremely professional Manor. And even amongst the loud rude obnoxious table of eight. Our service was still exceptional. Just tried to give them another chance and they again disappointed. Ordered deep dish but as evident by the pictures, received the saddest looking deep dish. The dough doesn't seem to have been properly prepped as it tasted a bit off and the texture was nothing like what their pizzas normally look like. Issues: pizzas are not consistent and orders are correct about 75% of the time. read more

LOVE this place and their cheesy grits are to die for. Their meechies are on a whole other level of WOW! Service, food and drinks are good. The only and I say ONLY down side to this place is the parking and wait time to be seated. They need a better location that's more accommodating for their patrons. The parking here is a NIGHTMARE! this is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. We come from SCV to eat here, yessss, we drive! Sucks when you have to drive around for 15 minutes or more to find parking. You can get in line on line, but it's a tad unorganized and there isn't anywhere to sit or really wait. Our favorite pizza spot is temporarily closed (Me 'n Eds on Paramount) so tonight was the opportunity to try a new spot. And all the 5 star reviews made our selection easy! We ordered a large pepperoni deep dish with a side of mozzarella sticks. 1. Mozzarella sticks were a cold. No biggie- I put them on some foil and tossed them in the toaster oven to warm them up. They only provided one small marinara sauce for 5 sticks, which seemed a little stingy- but whatever. I had sauce at home if necessary. Came out of the oven and they were very lack luster. Nice crunch (once heated) but bland. 2. The pepperoni pizza looked AMAZING. Not super greasy like most places and some browning on the edges of the pepperoni. HYPED. Then I took a bite. Hmm... not great. So I added red pepper flakes and took another bite. Very meh. Then I added some parmesan with my third bite. Honestly, it was flavorless. I'm not a fan of salty food, but I'll take salty over bland any day. Overall opinion: Lackluster. I'm giving 2 stars because aggressively under average. By the time I left I had a headache and felt very dizzy. I should have canceled everything and asked for a refund . This happened to multiple people while I was here. It was very upsetting. Was very disappointed at the food portion but very disappointed at how much gravy came with my biscuits. They were so dry, didn't really enjoy. Nothing like eating in. I was craving a really good breakfast this morning, so I talked hubby into going out. Sadly, several of our favorite weekend breakfast spots have closed, so I did some quick searching and found The Pan. I was excited to try it, as the menu looked awesome. Unfortunately, the reality didn't live up to my expectation. We arrived to find that the wait was 45 minutes to an hour for an inside table or about 35 minutes for a patio table or for inside counter seating. I was pretty hungry so not jazzed about the wait, but hey, I understand that on a Sunday at 11:30am, a wait is normal. We opted to waitlist for counter seating (the patio seating looked pretty basic). We were seated right at the 35 minute mark as originally estimated, so that was good. What was surprising was that there were a lot of empty tables in the restaurant, and even the counter (which only has 12 seats) only had two people sitting at the end (we were seated in the middle of the counter). OK, we thought, must be a social distancing thing. Our server came up quickly, and we ordered drinks. My cappuccino came quickly, though it took about 5-10 minutes for hubby to get his Blue Hawaii tiki drink. Hubby said his drink was good, but my cappuccino was horrible. It was served in a tallish coffee mug (weird), and the first thing that I noticed was it had almost no foam. Then I tasted it. It was nasty. It tasted very "chemically" and as if it had fake vanilla flavoring in it. The aftertaste was awful. I then noticed that, behind the counter, there is one of those push button "specialty coffee" machines. No wonder! This "cappuccino" tasted as if it didn't have any real espresso or milk and instead uses fake creamer and instant coffee. I ended up sending it back. The next problem was the wait for our food. It took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive. That may be acceptable in a fine dining restaurant when you expect to spend 2-3 hours enjoying a multi-course meal. For breakfast, I expect tobe served in about 20 minutes, 30 minutes max. And when our food did arrive, it just wasn't good. Hubby's blueberry pancakes were just ok (not amazing as they sounded in the menu description, but ok.). My Loaded Hash Browns were just not good. I was looking forward to good hash browns - a layer of crispy golden brown potatoes on the top, soft creamy potatoes underneath. Instead, there was very little of that brown crispiness. The eggs were completely covered in sauce and cheese so that you couldn't really even tell or taste that there were even eggs in there. And the worst part is that the whole dish was lukewarm, barely above room temp, so the cheese hadn't even fully melted. I was so hungry at this point that I just ate it, but the best I can say about it was that it was edible. My wheat toast wasn't even served with my meal. When I asked about it, the server had to go make it, so I didn't get it until I was halfway through my meal. And when it came - ick! One slice (cut in half) of some weird stodgy wheat bread - it reminded me of some weird hippie bread from the '60s. Again, I ate it as I was so hungry, but it was not good. As far as the service - everyone was friendly and nice and well meaning. We were checked on frequently, our server apologized for the delay with our food, the cappuccino was taken off the bill, etc. But it's the details that let the service down - such as the server forgetting my toast so that it wasn't even placed in the toaster until I asked about it. All in all, this isn't a place I would return to. read more
