Strong option for Nashville Hot Chicken in an increasingly crowded market. Howlin Rays is still the gold standard for me but in Long Beach, unless you want a chain that is just okay, you are looking at a handful of spots worth spending your money at. The combo deals are a pretty good value and I got the one with the sandwich and chicken strip. First off, as far as standard fries goes, I think the crinkle cut is best. Yes the seasoned curly fries are hard to beat but again for standard fries, the crinkle holds in all the seasoning so it its one of my faves and so I loved having these fries which were well seasoned. The chicken was well cooked with good crunch on the outside and tender chicken inside. The medium was pretty spicy so I can't imagine what the hot is like. We can handle pretty spicy foods as a family but this was pretty strong so buyer beware. I was glad I got the sandwich becauss the bun and slaw helped cut that heat a little. I do wish this food hall had more than 2 restaurants open and hopefully other restaurants will come in as tenants because that would help this area but I like the food hall style set up using shipping containers and the open seating area. I hope this place survives because all in all pretty satisfied with this spot if we can't make the trek to DTLA for Howlin. read more

Upon arriving I had to wait an additional 15 minutes after placing it 15 minutes in advance on a Sunday afternoon. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our meal. The only complaint is the mild and the medium flavored chicken, were way too powdery in coating. We both agreed we would actually rather get plain the next time and use a hot sauce or dip of our choice next time. I recently ordered from Main Chick Hot Chicken and tried out a couple of their combos. I got Combo 3 for me and my daughter, which comes with 2 chicken sandwiches and fries (my sandwich was spicy), and Combo 5 for my wife, which included a leg and thigh with fries. I also added a couple sides of mac n' cheese, which was delicious and creamy. Between the two styles, I found that I personally prefer the regular fried chicken without the spicy rub. The flavor of the fried chicken itself was outstanding--crispy, juicy, and seasoned just right. Came across this place while meeting with a coworker close by and ended up eating here since the place we originally wanted to eat at was not open yet. We ordered the medium spicy chicken sandwich which still had quite a kick to it. The ingredients on the sandwich were fresh and matched well with the fried chicken. The fries were also nice but I wish it would have had less seasoning on it. The place itself is nice and offers plenty of seating at a nicely covered patio. My favorite place for chicken tenders. i have tried medium, spicy and mild. Spicy is way to spicy you can no longer enjoy your food, medium is perfect, you don't burn your mouth and beg for ice cream or milk (in my opinion), you can taste all the flavors. The sauce is great but they skimp on portions, they only give you one sauce for three large tenders and charge you for extra. the place is always packed so i recommend ordering online and picking up, they have a nice outdoor seating area with lot of tables also. read more

Main Chick Hot Chicken is one of the better hot chicken places in LA County. After the over-saturation of many hot chicken joints in the last few years, this one stands out from the bunch. The cuts of chicken are fair and meaty and have such a nice crunch when you bite into them. I ordered two sliders and they were both so damn good! I'm already thinking about coming back and having them again. The fries are also very good. They give you a generous portion and they are crispy and seasoned to perfection. It is a great deal of food that will more than likely leave you satisfied. The wait times are not too bad either. Only about ten minutes before my food was ready. I loved every last bite :) I asked the cashier about their wall of fame and she told me that to earn a place on it, I would have to eat one of their chicken items at the spiciest level. My fiance and I tried: Combo #1 (1 MC Sandwich, 1 Chicken Tender, Seasoned Crinkle Cut Fries, Pickles, MC Sauce) Spicy, Combo #5 (2 Leg Quarters, Bun, Seasoned Crinkle Cut Fries, Pickles, 2 MC Sauce) Medium, Mac & Cheese, and Creamy Soleslaw. First of all, their hot chicken is pretty damn good! It is moist, crunchy, and is seasoned to perfection! I love that their spicy seasoning is a good mix of salty, spicy, and sweet. What I found most surprising was that I think I preferred the chicken tender over the sandwich. Generally, I find myself ALWAYS preferring a sandwich because of the extra ingredients, but Main Chick's hot chicken is stellar enough to stand on its own. It doesn't need any extra fixins! The spice level on the chicken was perfect. I ordered a spicy which was just enough to make my nose run, while my fiance had a medium and he thought it was perfect. I ordered from this place through UberEats. First, the positives: Their chicken tenders are huge and will definitely fill you up. Three were more than enough for me. Tacking on the fact they also add a good helping of fries potentially makes the combo enough to feed two people. I ordered the mild seasoning which had just enough kick. The negative: The combo was supposed to come with two MC sauces (which is sold for 75¢ each), so I was very disappointed that I didn't even get one. I know this could have been easily fixed if I went there in person and checked right away, but this is a testament to their poor quality control. A restaurant that sells through a food delivery service needs to double check every order. Luckily, I had Chick-fil-a Sauce so the chicken was good with that. Other things to note - the chicken didn't have much crunch to it but that may have been due to a combination of the delivery time and the seasoning. Their Mac and Cheese was pretty good (not overly creamy, but not dry either).
