Such a pretty and quiet spot on Atlantic in Long Beach. Crazy that for years I hung out in the restaurants here but had yet to stop by Wood & Salt. The restaurant name has changed a few times though throughout the years. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and there was only one other group in the restaurant. One server was available and she was great - very nice and made sure to check on us. The $5 mimosas - DEAL!! So yummy too. The menu was not huge, and was somewhat limited but the food was delicious (smaller portions). The mismatched plates, so cute! I ordered the fish sandwich and that came with this dreamy soft potatoes and a really good tartar sauce. We also ordered the calamari and the croquettes. More like small apps. But very good flavor. I'm going to have to come back and try their cocktails.

It's been a while since the last time I've visited for dinner and drinks. This time, we stopped by Saturday evening with no reservations. It did look quite busy on the patio when we checked in with the hostess. We were informed that it would prob be about 20 minutes or so for a table and if we wanted to wait at the bar. Exactly what we did. Bar area had maybe 5/6 hi top chairs that look onto the bar. Gabriel and Francisco who were working was knocking the drinks out one by one. Sitting there and just watching them create magic for everyone, it was quite amusing. Seeing how it's made and presented with precise detail, it was an art. While waiting for the table we started off with the raspberry lychee martini and the spicy margaritas. Both were great. The right amount of kick with each sip. Gabriel was knocking them out one by one and man was he busy. Fransisco took are of us while we were eating which we ended up just having our dinner at the bar instead. The last time I remembered the chicken Parmesan which was excellent. So we started off with the grilled prawns as a starters. Five prawns in a skewers and grilled with a delicious sauce accompanied. It was tasty and quite delicious. Decent size and meaty for each bite. Entrees was a little mishap as our meal was mistakenly given to the party next to us which they enjoyed. Honesty mistake but we laughed it off. Kitchen was informed and a rushed was put on our order. We weren't in a rush so it was fine with us. They apologized and graciously offered us a dessert after dinner. Something simple but very graceful for the honest mistake. Entrees, the wild mushrooms pasta which was quite tasty and pretty decent in size. The cream sauce which wasn't too over powering the meal was great. Each bite was very tasty. Then there was the chicken Parmesan which why we were here and expecting. The last visit it was excellent with grilled broccolini, slices of tomatoes on top and mozzarella cheese and onto spaghetti pasta. It was great. Thinking it would be the same this time which it wasn't. This visit, it was just served with squash pasta and buffalo mozzarella on top. Honestly it wasn't what I expected, somewhat of a little disappointed. Chicken was good don't get me wrong. But the hot meat with sauce and then you have literally COLD squash pasta paired with it. It was a little underwhelming. Overall, we still had a nice experience. The place was pretty full and of course the lakers were on so it was fun seeing everyone cheering them on. Bar seating for a meal was great as we had fun conversations with both Gabriel and Francisco. Plus they were cranking them drinks out one by one. Excellent in what they do. The drinks were great, grilled prawns and wild mushrooms pastas were excellent. Chicken parm, this time was a miss. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and cocktails. Also the dessert, highly recommend the Cinnabon with vanilla ice cream. Wow, it went down very well. Hoping next time will outdo this.

My babe, wanted to take my mom and I out to a nice dinner, and found this on yelp. It looked really good and it has a bit of an unusual menu. Not so many things to choose from, so you're certain to get special attention to the food you order. The restaurant is a bit small, again good for special attention to your meal and to you. We had a lovely time and we will most likely be back.

Wood & Salt Tavern: 8.5/10 Cute and chic dinner spot about 10 mins away from LGB airport. Knowing Long Beach you'll get lucky with street parking but may have to do a lap or two. Aesthetic & Ambiance: 8.5/10 modern and clean giving off more nicer home vibes. Different crowds from dates to friend dinners, but they have decent amount of seating and the volume was pretty soft. Service: 9/10 We've had the pleasure of dining with Ronin once before this time, and he's always been attentive and very informative of menu items and substitutions. Ricotta stuffed Squash blossoms: 8/10 last time we came here we swore they were twice the size, but both times, always delicious. Portobello Fries: 8.5/10 perfectly fried and the portobellos were still nice and flavorful. Meatballs: 9/10 the meatballs and sauce were both fresh and delicious, the bread was also amazing, but I wish it cooked a little less. Mozz & Plum: 8.5/10 great salad, the balsamic and plums are perfect pair, cutting the other for balance; while the arugula and mozzarella cheese were fresh and light Grilled Caesar salad: 8.5/10 the char was perfect and the dressing was fresh and not overly salty or anchovious. Brussel sprouts: 8.5/10 can't go wrong with these, they're flaky, delicious, and tossed in a honey balsamic. Chicken Parmesan: 9/10 the chicken was so tender and juicy, the breading was crispy and hot. The spaghetti was also nicely al dente, and could definitely tell it's made in house. Carrot cake: 6/10 it was just ok, a little dense. Churro Cheesecake: 9/10 being the total opposite, but still being a little dense, the cheesecake was delicious and perfectly sweet.

GREAT LOCATION I'll start off by saying it's a beautiful restaurant in a prime location. Right in front of bixby joes coffee and is a great place for drinks on first Fridays! We started off with drinks. The tavern sour was as described and did the trick to lube me up for the meal. I ordered the rib eye steak frites. I was advised the portions were very large. This is America. The portions were not very American. I could have ate two of the plates. The steak was cooked medium rare and was very good. 2 of the pieces were inedible due to the meats textures but the ratio is good. I ordered lemon aioli and another sauce but did not receive them. We ordered the portobello mushroom fries for the table as an appetizer. But we did not receive them until we had finished our meal. Fortunately, I still had room and was able to finish the fries. They lacked flavor. The sauce they use was only enough to flavor a few fries. They taste like pot pie crust. Interesting but probably won't order again. We received the aioli for the steak frites on the last two few fries. Bill came out to +- $250 for 3 people. Which isn't too bad considering there were drinks ordered but the following day I went down the street and ordered 3x as much food at a restaurant for 6 people and paid the same.

We made reservations for a Friday night, and it was slightly packed. We got sat down immediately, we ordered the house bread and it was so good! Their pasta was so good as well. The place is cute, they have outdoor seating and the service was great. Fully recommended

I love how this stretch of Atlantic has evolved to where it is today. The walkable area provides a lot of opportunities for every meal of the day. As a change of pace, the group went here on Thursday evening for dinner and cocktails. I must have passed this place a million times and never considered to stop in. I was reminded of it by seaching through Yelp. The restaurant opens at 5pm. We arrived about 5:30pm and there were a few people already eating. We were seated immediately outside on a perfect summer evening. It was a few minutes and we were able to get drinks and appetizers ordered while it was still happy hour. The drinks were alright. The happy hour drinks weren't mixed with cheap liquor. Old fashion and margaritas were well-liked by everyone. The appetizers came out a bit later and were pretty good. I liked the portobello fries but no body else did at the table. This is a very relaxed atmosphere. You can't be in a hurry if you plan to eat here. This place is where you go when there is a lot of table conversation. Have patience with the waitstaff. I ordered the chicken parmesean. This is pretty standard fare for a place that serves Italian food. The picture also makes it look tempting. I wasn't really impressed. Although the pasta was cooked to perfection, the chicken wasn't right. Dry and bland, I ate about half. This could have been just me as everyone else at the table liked their meals. Was it just a bad choice that night? You be the judge.

Another solid dinner experience here. I love the simple decor of the holiday season and how this place feels when you walk in. It's cozy. I love that I can taste the freshness of their ingredients. The flavor really shines through. Service was great. Luis at the bar was friendly and patient. Portions were appropriate and filled us well. The wood fired cabbage was a surprise. I can't say I've ever had cabbage that delicious before. You'd just need to try it for yourself!

Delicious meals that are reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere both inside and out. The Bloody Mary with Vodka is DELICIOUS and only 12$ Extremely nice staff (Francisco and Reilly ). Try it out!

I did not expect this place to be as good as it was. The mushroom pasta we had was perfect. It had some spice that balanced out the creaminess. I loved the charred cabbage too. Crispy potatoes were also pleasant to try. I had their pineapple cocktail and it was flavorful without tasting syrupy sweet. I would absolutely go again!

Been here twice. And enjoy the atmosphere. It's nice sitting inside or outside. Their menu is small and I had to look up many of the menu names as I didn't recognize what the dish would contain. So far everything I've tried here has been delicious. Their Caesar salad is the best. Their dressing is so good. I'd come back everyday for that salad. The service is always great. Servers are always helpful and kind

    Cherry Negroni
    Daro H.

You'll find some of the best cocktails in the city right here, starting with the Cherry Negroni and the Banana Espresso Old Fashioned. I've had a Negroni in New Orleans, which I think is where the drink originated, and as authentic as it is, it was too heavy on the alcoholic. But this was well-balanced with sweet and citrus forward notes layered on top of gin and sweet vermouth. The Banana Espresso Old Fashion was exceptional with espresso agave, banana, dark rum, and just the right amount of bitters to create another well-balanced drink that paired with the perfect cut of ice.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit at Wood & Salt Tavern. We ordered several cocktails, and luckily for us our waiter was also the bartender. He must've figured we all had a rough week at work because the cocktails were delicious. For food I ordered the Hanger Steak with Potato Crisps and their housemade ranch. I devoured this dish. The steak was made exactly how I wanted it (medium rare) and the ranch was addicting. I also tried the Shortrib Agnolotti which was a savory pasta dish with tender pieces of shortrib. Honestly, my only complaint of the night was I wish there was more of everything. From the cozy dim interior to the food and service, it was an experience that will definitely warrant my return.

There were heaters on each side of the patio!

They absolutely are! I would have to say though that your check will be pretty pricey if your kids like to eat good food. But they are family friendly :)

    Are you smoker friendly?

Not in the sense that you'd be allowed to smoke in the restaurant and not only break the law, but also disturb everyone else's dining experience:

    What is the corkage fee?

    $25

Do they accept reservations? Have been trying to call but it says their voicemail is not set up.

I believe they do on Resy. At least on their Instagram posts it's says you can make reservations. And their website has a link to Resy for reservations. Hope this helps!

    Any vegan options? 🙂

There are a handful of dishes we can make vegan. Thank you.

My wife has an appointment at Lather this afternoon so we decided to have lunch at Italian homemade…read morecompany near Lather. We had a great time to find some new hand care products @Lather and went to discover an authentic italian restaurant which lots of Yelpers mentioned. My wife said, we have to order at the front, then they bring the foods to the table but the owner took our orders, and brought the foods so fast just like other Italian restaurant. We love meat lasagna, pasta w bolonese sauce, and some flat breads like appetizer pizza. We ordered 3, lasagna, tagliatelle bolonese, flat bread sandwich called Cassone w sausage, bell pepper, onions. I had some italian red wine per glass ($14). First, I loved so much my lasagna and kept eating until finish my entire portion. I give 10 stars. My wife's pasta, she said pasta is too thick, might be on purpose? She likes soft, thin texture handmade tagliatelle. For the first time, we ordered flat bread sandwich. The sandwich flavor was good, but not the dough for flat bread. Well, we tried here for the 1st time after shopping. Today was almost 81 this afternoon. Hot and humid.....unluckily AC was broken so he opened the entrance door. One big fly bothered a lot annoying us eating the foods. And so hot inside restaurant. Overall, I liked my lasagna a lot, not really tagliatelle bolonese, nor the flat bread sandwich. If AC was working during lunch time. We felt much comfortable to enjoy our foods. One thing, I loved the red wine but the portion was not enough for $14. Even my wife said, not much for this price. I got 2 glasses of italian red wine, not enough. The view was great ocean side from the patio. This is a strong point eating here for the view. My wife saw the live pasta cooking show, a chef made the pasta, stretching the pasta dough in the kitchen....great show! Fun! Hopefully AC runs well especially hot summer season, the portions of pastas and wines might be more generous for the future.

From my photos, you can see that they have various items for sale such as wine, oils, ground coffee, pasta and more. They also offer pasta classes Delightful Italian food for sure.
