We had the Norwegian (yummy) and the Greenlandic (not as yummy) but my son had the animal pancake. We weren't sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. The Norwegian was creamy with salmon. Making my mouth water thinking about it. I'd eat 2 of them if I could right now. The Greenlandic, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. If this was. Came here after wandering around my apartment. I got the bacon and cheese pancake mainly because I asked the waitress what was the most Dutch thing I could order. I also ordered some vanilla tea which came with a stroopwafel. they also serve the pancake with a side of syrup which you could drown your pancake in. The pancake took up the whole large dish. it was like to Dutch pancakes making a sandwich out of my bacon and cheese. I got the Caprese pancake. The savory one. It took me so long to decide what to get. There seemed to be so many good options. My friend got the Dutch pancake (sweet). Took a little bit of her cinnamon ice cream. It was so delicious! The pancakes came out pretty quickly after we had ordered. Luckily we went right before the start of rush hour. I think we got well worth our money at this awesome establishment. If I come back to Amsterdam for a longer stay, I would definitely revisit this place! Two thumbs up!! Another cool thing about this place is that it's soooo close to the Anne Frank House. You can reserve a ticket and eat a meal here while you wait for your time slot (if it's pretty close to meal time). Or eat after. Whatever. For a place called the pancake bakery it would be nice to have syrup warmed and served with the crepe rather than having a bottle of syrup on the table. A huge list of dishes from savory to sweet. I chose one of the favorite dishes noted on the menu (I highly recommend doing this for first timers), it was a caprese with pesto and sun dried tomatoes. This was voted the best dish on our table. Rich and flavorful, and a dish that should probably be shared. They also offer a huge list of omelettes. It's been two years since I've been to Amsterdam but I still think about the Norwegian pancake i had at this place till this day. This place is on the same street as Anne Frank's house museum. It only took less than 5 mins of walking to get there which was convenient. I ordered a cappuccino and Norwegian pancake which was stuffed with salmon, cheese, capers and everything delicious. Huge portions, cute decor, I highly recommend it after standing in a line for 3 hours in a 30 degrees weather. :) I wish that I can go back ! read more

This place often has a line, so it can get busy. My boyfriend and I stayed only a few doors away, so we thought we'd give it a try. We shared the banana & Nutella pancake with vanilla ice cream added (about 12€) and oh my goodness is it delicious. I don't know what it is, but something about the batter makes it magical.. We've had this 3 times during our trip already because we're going to miss it so much when we leave! The staff is also very friendly, which is a plus. As a side note, this is apparently a spot that attracts tourists. This happened twice: as we were walking in, tourists were taking awkwardly staged photos outside of it. Bottom line: this place is terrible from start to end. It was probably the worst dining experience I have ever had in my life. My husband and I stopped by around 9am on a Saturday morning and a line was already forming at the front door. There were 3 parties in front of us and we waited for about 25-30 minutes before we finally got seated. We noticed the waitresses do everything here - they act as hostess, bus tables, make drinks, and take orders. If they had separate people doing the separate roles, I could definitely see a smoother experience. It could probably cut the wait time in half. We noticed people leaving without eating after we got seated. Thought it was strange - That should have been our cue to RUN! Someone finally took our drink order 10 minutes after we were seated. Drinks came out 15 minutes later and we ordered our food at that time. Food finally comes out 20-25 minutes later and my coffee is cold. They don't do refills so I just pass on another coffee because I can already foresee this meal being a big waste of money. I ordered a sweet pancake with chocolate syrup, bananas, and whipped cream. Husband ordered a savory pancake with "bacon" (more like ham), cheese, and mushrooms and a side of scrambled eggs. My pancake (more like a crepe) was soggy, the chocolate syrup tasted like cheap store brand simple syrup you put on top of kids ice cream, and I couldn't stand to eat it. I will usually force myself to eat things so I don't waste the money, but I just couldn't. My husband's pancake wasn't too bad so we ended up sharing it along with the semi-cold scrambled eggs. The waitress comes by at the end of our meal and asks how I liked it. Considering I only took 2 bites from my plate, I told her I didn't like it at all because it was soggy and mushy. She was empathetic and agreed with what I said then brought out the bill. 2 drinks, 2 crepes, and scrambled eggs came out to about 38 euro. We paid the bill and left. I was tempted to tell the long line of people to go elsewhere and save their money because this place is overhyped. Went on a couple of tours afterward and all the tour guides DID NOT recommend this place. Damn it - should have asked them before we went and saved ourselves the time and money. The pancakes taste good but the overly touristy experience was disappointing. Stumbled upon this quaint, friendly Amsterdam Pancake restaurant, and what a treat it was! I had the Icelander ( vegetarian ), my daughter had the Hungarian , Yummy! The staff was friendly, helpful and always smiling. They new we were traveling and invited us back again to try something new tomorrow :) And we might just might make it back to have a desert pancake. We came here to get our first dutch meal before going to the Anne Frank house. I ordered a bacon and onion dutch pancake and my friend ordered an omelette without cheese. My pancake was excellent but I preferred the dutch pancake restaurant closer to our hotel because my pancake had more bacon. However, the pricing was the same at both places. My friend wanted scrambled eggs but apparently they only serve those for breakfast? Not sure why. Her omelette also came with cheese (which did said no cheese). Overall our food was good, we were able to get in and out relatively quickly and the location was perfect. However, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here. read more

Everyone says you have to go here and you dooooo! It's fun, cool and very very delicious. Walked out two jeans sizes bigger but still worth it. Came here for lunch on a Wednesday. No wait. Had an ice cream and apple pancake, it looked like it would have served 16 people, buy nope, it just served me. The pancake itself is thin, so you can pretend that you didn't eat that much, but actually you did. But, it's worth it. Just trust me. Just be aware the sweet pancake is loaded with whip cream and ice cream. Also had the cider. Awesome! Place is cool. It's downstairs, cozy and clean and rustic. Prices are very very reasonable. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service! We came here on our last full day in Amsterdam and we're so glad we did. We were not seated in the main room, but in the next room instead. I'm so glad that they did that because the main room was super crowded and smelled worse than the room we were in. Our room was much more spacious and the air quality was a tad bit better. The grease smell was inevitable from them making all the delicious food. We ordered the Thai curry pancake for a savory bite and I believe the traditional Dutch one for a sweeter bite. Both were equally delicious, though I'm more of a savory food type of girl. The server even reminded us to have the savory one first as the sweet one had ice cream and it'd melt by the time we finished our savory pancake. Thank you! We also had nachos and pea soup as starters. The nachos were obviously not all crazy like we have it here in the States, but husband said it was nice to have some familiar food. The peas soup was yummy, though not as hot as I'd like it to be on a chili January day. They have WiFi, but we had trouble connecting to it with our phones and our pocket WiFi also wasn't working. My husband asked the server if there was a phone we could use to try to call customer support for our pocket WiFi and to our surprise...he pulled out his own cell phone and let us use it! He even helped dialed the number for us, no questions asked. That was great hospitality and it helped us out so much.
