    Sunshine on Stockbridge

This restaurant popped up on almost every list of breakfast/brunch spots so I had to try it. The plates are definitely instagrammable! Not necessarily off the charts for me, but service was friendly and quick and the food was very good as well, so it's worth the stop if you're in the area.

Very happy we took a half day to get out of central Edinburgh and to find this awesome place. You first come in and you're welcomed by the staff. They are very helpful and very nice. The ambiance is very chill and a nice separation place to take your time and eat and forget you're in the city. The food was very delicious and I love the tater tots. A great place to start your day when walking around Stockbridge, circus lane, and dean bridge

The Pantry was so fresh and filling. With around a 45 minute wait, we strolled around the corner for a chai (grow urban was incredible!). The sunshine on stockbridge was a perfect meal, accompanied by a side of sourdough toast. I highly recommend eating here!

Beautiful brunch spot with interesting menu and warm decor. This place was great for brunch and friendly staff; they also dogs so we had some fun restaurant mates by us. My husband ordered the full Scottish with vegan haggis and I opted for the Stockbridge brunch which had eggs, sweet potato, courgette and a yummy roasted red pepper sauce. Their coffees were super delicious too.

By far my favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Edin. The location is next to the Stockbridge farmers market and the shopping district, with great seating and large windows. There's excellent seating for single diners (which is sometimes hard to find), but also for large groups. Great service.

Pantry Waffles with a side of 3 scrambled eggs.

Excellent! We ordered the Pantry Waffles and the Sticky Toffee French Toast. Both were delicious, with beautiful presentation and good portion sizes. Of the two, the toast made a bigger impression and was more unique, though! They had friendly service and plenty of seating as well. Highly recommended.

Came here at the recommendation of a food YouTuber but clearly they didn't know what they were talking about. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and thankfully they were able to text us when our table was ready so we had the chance to walk around. When we got to our table, we ordered Eggs Benny and a duck dish. It was past 11 AM so we couldn't order from their breakfast menu. The eggs Benny were alright, nothing really to brag about other than plating and presentation. The duck dish was lackluster at best. The flavors were non existent. The only thing that saved us were the side order of chips (hash browns) that we ordered.

All around good choice for breakfast, but not so sharp around the edges. Though they serve the classics well (eggs Benedict, French toast, and so on) each dish was lacking in overall flavor and execution. A bit sloppy. Coffee was good, ambience was great, service was friendly as well.

I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to have exceptional food, stellar service, and inspiring and hip atmosphere! My boyfriend and I are visiting Edinburgh, and we stopped here for brunch. This is hands-down the BEST meal we have experienced here! The staff is very friendly and kind people. We were given lots of space to enjoy our meal, yet not neglected at all. The menu is very creative yet cohesive, while the food is clearly made with quality ingredients! I ordered the Matcha Made in Heaven (pictured), and my boyfriend ordered the No Small Fry (pictured) as well as a side of the breakfast chips. If you find yourself in the Edinburgh area, I highly recommend stopping in!

Our lockdown brunch delivery! You must make sure you place your order at least 48 hours in advance on their website to get a delivery slot. If you stay within Edinburgh city, the Pantry allows you to choose which day (Friday - Sunday) to have your brunch delivered on. However, if you live a little further outside the city, they do offer delivery to the Lothians, but will only deliver on specific days (so best to double-check before ordering, so you don't miss out!). When your delivery date finally arrives, the delivery is made (contactless of course!) earlier in the morning to allow you to have it all ready in time for brunch that same day! We each received our own portion along with personalised instructions on how to heat them up. Since the Pantry had done most of the hard work for us already, all we had to do was warm the waffles and bacon through. We put them in the oven at 180ºC for around 5 - 10 minutes. Before ordering, we had worried that the food wouldn't be up to the same standards that you would have in the restaurant; that the freshness wouldn't be there, that the ingredients wouldn't taste the same or that warming it at home would overcook everything, but luckily we were wrong! The waffles tasted amazing, the bacon still crispy and the blueberry compote mixed perfectly with the maple syrup to create a taste so close to the Pantry magic we have always loved. Although the menu is limited, there is something for everyone - we guarantee you won't be disappointed. We had just arrived from a red eye flight from the US, and this establishment was divine! Service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. Not to mention great area and adorable shop.

So I've been meaning to try this place for ages but its always so busy I've struggled to get a table. But alas. My time had come. I made it through the door (technically I ate outside because it was a rare sun-shiny kinda day) but you get the idea. I had the vegetarian breakfast with chorizo and a coffee. And I was not impressed. I mean, the coffee cups are super cute, the coffee itself was not impressive. My breakfast almost felt like a breakfast for giants- and no, not because it was a huge serving (its actually pretty reasonable) but each item put on my plate was just LARGE. Like, two tomato halves, big chunks of mushroom, huge chorizo links sitting atop a mound of bread. I would have been happy with a slice of toast. Honestly, I spent so much time trying to cut my food into pieces I just quit. Each item on its own was nice. Didn't reallyix well together and the dtrip of haloumi was my favourite part of the meal. After eating here, I don't understand the appeal. Sure, the exterior is super funky and staff are lovely, but when I think of eating or drinking a coffee here again I just think 'why would I do this to myself?' Sorry guys. Just not a fan on my end.

We tried on our first week in Edinburgh and failed, but were able to make reservations 3 weeks out for our last night in Scotland, and we are glad we did. Pork cracklins were a bit hard and crunchy, but everything else was perfect. We had fresh bread and langostinis for starters, along with a smokey whiskey cocktail, the Smoked Indiscretion! For mains we enjoyed the poached Cod, and the Pork with Barley. Service was very good, and wine selection was extensive. Atmosphere was loud with music and locals' chatter in the bar below, but dark tables and heavy wood panels made it a perfect place for a couple celebrating 3 weeks of travel. Highly recommend a visit to the Devil's Advocate, if you can book a table in advance.

The one weird thing -- we were unsure when we arrived how hungry we would be, and the menu is a bit limited. We decided to order just the cheese board and see where we were after that. We were told that once we placed an order, we would not be permitted to put in any more food due to a "small kitchen." I have never heard this rule worded in quite this way. I have been to places that prefer you place everything at once, but not that you would absolutely not be allowed to order more food if you found yourself hungry. We witnessed another table leave because of this rule. The server communicated this rule quite gruffly. The restaurant was also not very busy at all, so couldn't have been crowding concerns. I would definetly recommend for drinks and apps, but, for dinner, perhaps elsewhere.

Both dishes were outstanding and showcased exactly why this restaurant is so highly recommended. The lamb shank was incredibly tender, rich, and flavorful, practically falling off the bone with every bite. The gravy paired perfectly with the creamy mash, creating a hearty and satisfying meal. The pork shank was equally impressive--crispy on the outside, juicy and succulent on the inside, with deep, savory flavors throughout. The accompanying red cabbage and slaw added a nice balance and freshness to both plates. Portion sizes were generous, the presentation was excellent, and every component felt thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for authentic Scottish comfort food in Edinburgh, Makars Mash Bar is a must-visit. Both the lamb shank and pork shank were exceptional, and we'd gladly order either again.

I mean who doesn't love a good pub? You get great drinks and great food at an affordable price. As I write it makes me think of think of when Zidane reunites with Freya in FF9. Sometimes we don't wanna eat at fancy Michelin restaurant that has small plates but charges a premium. Sometimes we just wanna cut all the BS and just get a nice hearty meal. And thats what we got. When we sat down we found out that they were doing a Trivia night. Normally I would have told my girl to pick another spot to eat but for some reason I was cool with it. There was even a table nearby with kids(yuck). And you know what? It was fine. That's because we had been sipping on some amazing cocktails. If you also partake, Gin and Mezcal enjoyers will love the Bramble and Hibiscus Crush. What color are Luigi's overalls from Super Mario? That's such an easy question. Wait...what do you mean Luigi's overalls are blue? They are green. Look at this picture onli...Oh... One of the stars of our meal was the Haggis. This was the first time I had ever tried it and after trying it at multiple places Scotland, Queens Arms I feel has done it the best. I love the complexity of the flavors of the meat with the creamy and pepper flavors of the peppercorn sauce. If you've never had Haggis, you definitely have to try it here. The best part is that it comes with mashed potatoes too! Shoutouts to the Fish and Chips if you are also into that. One of my friends ordered that and I definitely had to go back in for multiple bites. Finally the roast. The Sunday Roast should just be an automatic order if you happen to come here on a Sunday. You get so much food and it's all so damn tasty. They'll cook a roast to whatever doneness your heart desires. We went with Medium Rare and it came out perfectly. If you didn't have enough flavors with all the extra sides it comes with, they also give you gravy to pour on anything you want. Thanksgiving basically came early this night. But as I looked around and admired all the bookshelf's and all the families have a nice dinner with their loved ones, I just thought about how happy I was. I was finally here! This was the start of my trip. Queens Arms has set a high ceiling on great experiences in Scotland. We even went back there a couple of days ago just because we knew we would be able to end the night on a good drink. But in the end I think if you are Edinburgh, you have to come to this place. It is one of my favorite experiences I've had in Scotland so far and I dream about when I can come back again.
