Our server greeted us promptly and was very attentive during our dining experience. I got the Rise & Swine omelette with a biscuit and my husband got the loaded potato hash. Both were good, the potato hash had way too many tortilla strips on it, they had to be removed to find the rest of the food. It could benefit from a touch more scrambled eggs as well. The omelette was good, nothing spectacular, could have also used more cheese, but it was loaded with meat. The fresh biscuit was good and they offer fresh jam as well. I thought it was strange that there is no salt and pepper on the tables and I had to ask for that, and the hot sauce was brought to us in a small cup instead of the bottle? The interior is dark offering table and booth options. I only wish they had better warm drink options. They don't even offer flavored creamer. I think adding a barista would elevate the experience. I went here a few days ago for a late breakfast. I had the grits bowl which has grits, smoked gouda cheese, spinach and a special made tomato sauce on top. This tasted great. I loved the idea of having fresh uncooked spinach added to the dish which was different from my previous visit. The restaurant is roomy with good spacing but I didn't like the booth. The booths are joined back to back with no separation; meaning we could hear the conversation of the family at the adjacent booth as if they were at our booth. Even with its casual vibe and setting in an unassuming strip mall, The Paper Mill deserves 4 stars for finally bringing some local creativity to Mt. Juliet. Beset with a plethora of chains, MtJ's sparse local offerings usually lean toward pub grub. But Paper Mill's tasty dishes make it a local favorite for all diners. Burgers, chicken tenders and sandwiches as well as salads, traditional breakfast fare and lots of sides usually means there is something for everyone. (Their kids portions are very generous.) After experimenting with various menu options and open/close times, they seem to have settled on one all-day brunch menu and a 2pm close. Which is a bummer - we'd love to have them as a dinner place too. The staff is chill, friendly and attentive. One unfortunate change with the new menu was removing the Beyond/Impossible burger option, and not adding any kind of veggie patty either, leaving vegans and vegetarians without a burger choice. With many egg and dairy options, this place is great for vegetarians. Not so much for vegans - although on one visit they kindly subbed avocado in for cheese and didn't up-charge. read more

It seemed the day may have just been off for this establishment. I wanted to truly enjoy the entire experience but just couldn't. The basket of biscuits were probably the star of the show. There were 3 kinds of jam (peach, strawberry, and blueberry), a cinnamon butter, and a tiny dollop of regular butter. I felt the peach jam was the best tasting. I had a very simple order and when it came out all of my food was cold. I did send it back to the kitchen and when they brought out new food it was ok. The hash brown casserole was very good however the eggs could've been better. Our server told us the kitchen was having an off day. We had to ask twice for silverware and my dining companion did not get her biscuit until we were ready to leave. She ordered a veggie omelet and the green stem was left on the tomatoes inside her omelet. I'm not sure if I'd go back. I'm so disappointed because there really isn't a good breakfast place near us. I opted for the Bloody Mary bar before I saw it - I was certainly expecting a little more, but they had delicious candied bacon, several different types of olives, pickles, some cheese. My husband ordered an omelet, which was fresh and the sausage in it tasted fantastic, but it literally was sitting in a pool of grease, which definitely detracted from the dish. We went for breakfast on a day they had installed a new operating system. It was not a wonderful experience. We were told it would be a 10-15 minute wait. The wait was closer to 45 minutes. At one point 9 tables sat empty, while no one was being seated. A friend whispered they were short staffed... well sit me down, give me some coffee, and explain the service will be slow today. Do not make my try to wrangle my toddler for an hour, while you figure out how to run your restaurant. I ordered the Pepper Jelly Chicken Biscuit. The biscuit was fine, but there was no seasoning on the chicken, and not enough Pepper Jelly to make any type of impact... if it was left off, I wouldn't have noticed the difference. I ordered the Gouda Grits... bland and flavorless. When I asked for Tabasco, every single person at the table took it and added seasoning to their plates as well. The wife had a Cinna-Crunch waffle, which is a waffle with butter and syrup, and 1/4 cup of Cinnamon Toast cereal thrown on top. While it was a cute novelty, dry hard cereal thrown on top has very little magic. Give me cinnamon-sugar butter instead, and dazzle me! Today they were off, and completely missed. They didn't clear our table. We had to ask for more coffee. 3 STARS, because I feel they can get it together in the future. read more

Duct tape could have helped in a pinch. The ladies room toilet seat was discolored, giving the appearance of being unsanitary, but I believe it was clean.
