We tried to try Mama D's several months ago but the power went out (due to local construction, not their fault) and we had to leave having just had our coffee. Well, we finally got back around to coming back and had breakfast on a recent Friday morning and loved it. My wife said she would let anyone know who asked about it that it's basically like having breakfast at a grandmother's house--from set up to atmosphere to style and quality of food, if you grew up in the south or midwest and were fortunate enough to have a good cook as a grandmother, you'll remember this kind of down home, no frills, straightforward food. The pancakes are fluffy and buttery, the biscuits crisp and buttery, they can actually cook your eggs to order even if you want them just over easy, the standout (for me) was the hashbrown casserole as it's cheesy and tangy. The gravy is good if I prefer my own (sorry), but it's certainly quicker and easier to let them make it for you! The service here is super friendly and kind. Prices are fair--yes, they're higher now than they probably have ever been due to current inflation, but hopefully they'll drop back down a bit when that eases. It's still fair as we at and had coffee for two and it was less than $30 after a 25% tip. Note--I do wish they'd use less styrofoam as they use it for gravy bowls and water glasses (and I hate that styrofoam that basically never leaves the planet) but the rest of their plateware is rewashable.

#2 and #5 on the menu. Yummy!

The food is incredible, the biscuits and gravy are to die for and omelette was awesome. My new favorite breakfast spot here in Ashland City

Glad I found this place. A nice diner with good service and a full menu. Coffee always kept full and a tasty omelette to boot.

Slow and unapologetic service, makes sense why the Waffle House has a line out.the door. Not worth the wait.

My mother in law had wanted to sit inside at a booth but for some reason they said they weren't seating that area. Maybe they didn't have a server for that section, but idk. I was happy to be outside tho. It was a really nice day so i was glad to be able to enjoy it. You do have to deal with the occasional revving of engines while people show off as they head to Walmart but nothing anyone can do about that. I ordered the French dip and sweet potato fries. My mother in law got fried shrimp with green beans and coleslaw. The French dip did not come with au jus. I didn't pay attention to the menu so idk if it just doesn't come with it or they forgot it. The server didn't come back until we were almost done so I didn't see a point in asking about it by then. The sandwich was very good, the au jus would have made it exceptional. The sweet potato fries were very good too. I usually try to stay away from fried foods and it was hard for me to stop eating these. My mother in law commented that the green beans were delicious and didn't seem to be from a can. She liked the shrimp too. Unfortunately her cocktail sauce was frozen solid. She was able to get some hot sauce tho so she made due with that. Aside from a few hiccups this place was good and I'd definitely try food from here again. Service was ok. I wish our server would have checked on us a little after we got our food so we could have asked about the au jus and cocktail sauce. It wasn't busy at all so I'm not sure why the service was so meh.

We always get the following: Steamed dumplings, spare ribs appetizer, Moo Shu Chicken, and Shrimp with vegetables. Everything is fresh and delicious, and the portion size?! We will be eating on this all weekend! The service is fast and friendly, always. Prices have remained unbelievably affordable. Ambiance is no-frills, which is just fine with us. $45 (before tip) for all this food is unheard of anywhere else, so you can keep a fancy dining room and maintain those savings for us, the customers

In reality, I have no idea how or why the health department has not closed this place. Having been involved in the food service industry in years past, I am pretty fussy about food handling. Storage, prep space, cooking & holding temps. This place has been far short of minimum. On one occasion we stopped in to grab a lunch special, this was when we learned the woman with the young child was no longer there. From the front counter we could see into the kitchen, where they had a large pile of raw chicken on the table they were taking from to make up assorted dishes in different woks. It was a hot day and there were flies in the place there is no way I could trust the food coming out of this place, we did not order food and have never been back. I really think the town & county should work on trying to get some new food establishments & grocery into the area. We have a massive lack of eateries, especially in regarding variety. Between Ashland City & Pleasant View (Cheatham County), there is probably over 2 dozen Mexican restaurants, but only 3 that were reasonably good, only 1 considered to be close to authentic. We have 2 bar & grills, a few chain pizza shops and a few bad attempts at a pizza shop here and a potentialy good choice aside from the weird hours they are open, the usual fast food offenders, Hardees, Burger King, McDonald's, we did just recently see a Waffle House open. We have an old H.G. Hill (they did a partial remodel about 2yrs ago), an old Food Lion, and a really old Save-A-Lot grocery store... There are a couple of saving graces... Thirsty Goat, a few restaurants in the Square of PV. But that's where it really about ends. Bottom line,
