Well these are all old reviews that don't apply anymore. This is a nice Boutique Hotel. Remodeled now !! It does have a few worn things like broken corner of stovetop. But some people are hard on things. We are pleasantly surprised at the nice mini suite! Queen bed , chair, counter with cooktop n two high bar chairs. Fridge ( tall) micro, cable tv. Ther is a nice walk in shower with rainfall AND reg shower head. I love the old honeycomb tile flooring in the bathroom. I had that in my house (1919) in the kitchen on the counters when I bought it !! We did not have a view but plenty of light! And we have the Thanxgiving / Xmas parade on state st tonite too!! Starting at 5! That's just a bonus. They have continental breakfast 6-9 I think. Coffee downstairs anytime. One laundry and dryer too on second floor. So all u nay Sayers look on trip advisor: better reviews!! read more

I am trying to call this hotel for a simple question if they hold bags for the day. I have a reservation so they are accepting registration through Hotels. The number is not in service though!... (518) 688-1001. Are they open? Help! Don't know what's going on or what to do. I also see there are no reviews since 2019... three years ago. Actually I see one in 2020. Their Facebook page hasn't been updated since 2019 also. But they are open? There are bad reviews on Trivago for 2022. People say staff is non-existent or they felt as if the were in an abandoned building and it was hard to get a clean room. Oh and you have to call a NJ for them to let you in? Forget it. Confused but at least I did my homework and I am cancelling since I don't feel comfortable. Just cancelled reservation but mysteriously there is no record of the reservation or cancellation anymore in Hotels system.  There normally is under past reservations.  I also normally get a confirmation e-mail for cancelling but didn't.  So I called Hotels and they told me there is an error message from their end when looking up the reservation.  They said to call this hotel directly to make sure it's cancelled.  I said, I can't since they aren't answering their phone, reason I cancelled to begin with!...but assured me it's cancelled.  This may be a Hotels issue but who knows. read more

Rating: 2.5/5. - The positive points: The breakfast options had some organic "Kashi" bars, corporate rate was available for rooms, the area in which the hotel was located felt relatively safe, there was a code to open the hotel door at night, the receptionist called me as scheduled for a wake-up call, complimentary toiletries and sewing kit, etc. - The points of improvement: My room cleaned by the associate "Chiffon" wasn't pristine. There were long blond hairs and short brown hairs on the bed spread in addition to the bathroom counter and floor. Some furniture and floor area were damaged. I'm local and booked a dinner/stay package to celebrate my birthday. Dinner at Malcolm's was great and that'll be a separate review. A week before our stay, I called to confirm the dinner reservation time, and to my excitement, was told we'd been upgraded to the Presidential Suite! How cool. When I arrived to check in the front desk guy mentioned he'd tried to call me earlier that day. I did see to unknown calls come in but no voicemails were left. Turns out they had to downgrade us, not just to the normal package suite, but even lower to a queen size (package included a king size bed), apparently due to heating reasons. Half the reason I booked the package was to have my 32-week-pregnant self (and my husband) enjoy the extra space of a king bed. They knocked $20 off the price. I had no problem with the elevator, which I've seen others complain about in other reviews. Yes, it's small, and you might say "rickety," but the building is old so I consider it quaint. Besides, it wasn't any slower than a modern elevator. Every surface in our suite had a fine layer of dust. Like others have said, the kitchen island is so close to the corner of the bed, you can't walk in between (especially when 32w pregnant). The bathroom was nice and large and had one of those ceiling-mounted rain showerheads, but you couldn't run it and the regular showerhead at the same time without a huge loss of water pressure. Also, the regular showerhead faucet was loose and would physically fall to the "very hot" zone. The continental breakfast was really sad and totally unsatisfying. Some bread items (I had a bagel, it was so bad), cereal, and fruit. There was a mini waffle maker, but no batter. Everything came in single-serve containers (cereal, cream, butter, cream cheese, jelly, pb, honey) and the plates were styrofoam and the utensils were plastic. So wasteful. The coffee from the Nespresso machine was terrible. I wanted to stay at the Parker Inn because it's a stand-alone hotel with history in my home town. But in the end, it wasn't worth it and I won't be going back. read more

Absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Delightful small hotel located in the heart of the "electric city" Safe off street parking in a lot behind Proctors theatre with a private entrance to the historic Arcade building (accessable after hours with door code). Staff couldn't be more friendly and welcoming. We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite which was absolutely breathtaking and had great views of the Downtown area as well as the GE Plant (a great local landmark and pretty at night. Breakfast was the usual spread found at Holiday Inn Express type hotels. A perfect 10! read more

Really liked this hotel, from the staff all the way to location and cleanliness. The hotel was going under management changes when I first visited. Since then they have been improving, because they always ask for my feedback and the entire staff is very friendly. It is located right next to Proctor's so I'm sure during the busy season it helps them a lot and makes people want to stay there because they said the actors/actresses always stay with their hotel. In the elevator there was a list of many famous people who had stayed in the hotel, really cool to see all of the history behind some of the people. Parking is one of the issues you have to just let it be because it is in downtown and there's not really anything you can do. But I got over it. Breakfast was much better now that they got rid of the packaged granola bars and put danishs and muffins instead. I will always be staying here when I come to visit the area! read more

We arrived to her hotel that was in darkness and the front door locked. It was a phone number on the front door so we called the number. A man came walking over from across the street he unlocked the doors and we all went inside the phone was ringing so he answered the phone. That gave us an opportunity to walk around. The chairs were turned upside down on the bar the chairs were turned upside down on the few tables that their work. The whole place had a very strange odor (kind of like cat). it didn't look like the hotel had been open in a while there were swatches of fabric here and there so it looks like they were planning some type of remodel. But rest assured it did not look like it was open. The gentleman told us that they were open. Given the fact that the place was in darkness we did not even look at the rooms they obviously had no services to offer. we did not stay I have to say enter at your own risk! read more

Not a bad place but I got locked out because there was no one up front and the service is pretty slow... ordered blankets and got them like 30 minutes later. Overall, It's very average. The accommodations are pretty nice here. The lobby decor is very upscale & swanky. The standard room i had was very spacious. The bed was very comfy. Continental breakfast is OK. Bagels, cereals, waffle maker, yogurt, granola bars, a nice Nescafe espresso beverage machine. Its a good quick breakfast. My favorite was the Nescafe machine. Service was friendly. Claudia was lovely & super resourceful. Centrally located. 2 blocks away from amtrak station, and a ton of restaurants to chose from. CVS is across the street. Proctos theater is literally next door. The elevator was broken for 5 days before my 81-yr-old mother arrived in Schenectady, , and yet the hotel did not notify me - claiming that booking.com didn't give them my contact info, patently impossible. Upon arrival she informed them that she couldn't stay on the third floor because she can't walk up/down stairs. There were no rooms on the ground floor, and so they assisted in finding alternative (and more expensive) accommodations. I am very disappointed that booking.com and/or the Parker Inn failed to notify me in a timely fashion. read more

Upon arrival I was greeted by the pleasant staff. They were able to get me to my room promptly. We stayed in room that had a amazing kitchen in it and appliances. The room was even stocked with plates and cups. The bathroom and room looked very modern, it looks like they recently updated the rooms. I love the location it's right in the heart of downtown Schenectady. I would definitely stay here again and recommend anyone to come stay at this hotel. read more

I wish I could give this hotel good review bc I have to come to Schentady often. Unfortunately I cannot. Upon retuning to our room we found the room was not made up- unmade bed, no new towels, nothing! This is 9::00 pm.. Called down to desk, was offered towels and sheets for me to make bed. Could've stayed home if I wanted dirty towels and sheets! Spoke to manager next morning- he said do not disturb sign was on door. IT WAS NOT! I would've seen it upon entering no? They gave us some compensation but actually room should've been free one night and pay for other night. I have never retuned to a room not made up- very disturbing and dirty feeling... I booked this hotel via Expedia because it was right next to Proctor's Theatre where my niece's graduation ceremony was taking place and because I generally like boutique hotels compared to big chains. The website features and photos looked very promising - free parking, wifi, breakfast, refrigerator and microwave, etc. Yes, all of these were there, but a dozen little dings made my review a 3 star rather than a 5. This is why I am writing such a comprehensive review. First of all check in: check in time is listed for 3 PM. We arrived from out of town about an hour earlier and asked the woman at the desk if a room might be ready. I was told there would be an extra charge for early arrival to which I asked if they really were the kind of hotel that charged by the hour? I was told this was hotel policy. I asked to speak to the manager about it and noted that was not the way to get a good review. He was not available. After unloading our luggage and finding the parking lot around the block behind the building, we managed to get in a 4th floor room about a half hour early. The extra fee did not appear on my bill. Here are the cons we experienced: The room was very cold and we tried to adjust the heat but had no luck. The thermostat was very strange-not the usual type in most hotel rooms. Had to call the desk. The man there came up and he couldn't get it to heat either so he brought us a space heater. I asked for ice and was told to bring down the ice bucket. There was no ice bucket in the room and he had no spares so I was given a plastic pitcher of ice - OK but I had to go to the desk to get it. No hangers in the closet. No dial tone on the room phone so all calls to desk had to be made from my cell phone. The breakfast area was nice with yogurt, juice, pastry, a waffle maker (had to ask for the waffle batter), cereal but surprise! - no milk. The milk situation was rectified the second day. Now for the pluses: The best feature of the hotel breakfast in my opinion was the awesome coffee maker which makes coffee, latte, cappuchino and hot chocolate by the cup and is available all day. Excellent! On Thursday early evening there was a very nice three piece musical group playing in the lounge - no cover charge and someone had placed a bottle of wine and cups out to share. The bed was very comfortable and the room quite clean. I really wanted to like this place more because it has a cute vibe but the combination of small annoyances prevented that. I understand that the hotel owners contract the management out which may account for some of the issues. read more

Well... I'll tell ya what we stood here because it was attached to the Proctor Theater. We arrived early and they front desk clerk worked to get us into our room which was great. It went down hill from there. We entered the room and me and my husband were surprised how much the floor in the Entire room creaked when you walked even the bathroom.... the beds were very old and only used flat sheets on the bed when we lifted the sheets there was all random lengths of hair under there were also cigarette burns and random stains and wholes when we complained to the front desk showing them pictures the apologized and while we were out and about they fixed the bedding wrote us an apology note and gave us some snacks and bottle of water. Which was nice. When we left I forgot items that were in the closet and I contacted them and they mailed everything to us. The Staff is amazing and did their best with what they have. The owner on the other hand needs to invest in their hotel and get beds that are newer and comfortable nicer bedding and just modernize the rooms you have an awesome group for your staff. They saved you from getting a one star that's for sure read more

This hotel should be ashamed of itself. We booked through Hotels.com but the hotel was over booked. I get that that may happen but the lack of concern by one of the brothers who owns the establishment sent me through the roof. No "I'm sorry let me see if I can get you booked somewhere else." Or anything. Just a blank apathetic lethargic stare until I said "How are you going to help us." His response-"Oh let me call my brother". Now mind you we had called the brother a few days before and he said our reservation was all set. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL if you value costumer service. read more

Fun little place, the presidential suite looks like a nice pad. I considered renting it for a couple weeks while in town for business. Unfortunately it's still under major renovations, and there are some trashy things going on like stained carpeting, a 6 million year old closet sized elevator, and a dark dingy lobby where you'll find the clerk's boyfriend hanging out eating bbq. read more

Had a horrible experience with this hotel. I made a reservation to stay in this hotel while in town for the night for a friends wedding, because all the rooms at the reception hall were booked. A few weeks later a room at the reception hall opened up and I called to cancel the reservation (2/27/13 @ 9:13pm-I looked it up on my call log). I was told "no problem, it's plenty of notice, you're all set." Then last night at around 11pm, while at the wedding, I get a phone call from the Parker Inn telling me the code to get into the hotel since I had not yet checked in. I called them back immediately and told them that I had canceled the reservation weeks ago. They told me they had no record of that and my card had been charged and I would have to call in the morning and speak with the manager. When I called this morning I was told by Jessica, the manager, that I would need the confirmation number in order to proceed. So, I get home, I look for the number, and of course I can't find where I wrote it down. I call Jessica back, and was greeted with the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Did I lose the confirmation number? Sure. My bad. But, when I was clearly upset on the phone and had given up hope that I was going to get my $90 back, and asked for a apology, her response was "I'm sorry that you lost the confirmation number." Unreal. How about you make it your policy that you obtain your guests email when they make the reservation? When I suggested this Jessica told me that "I should've asked them to send the confirmation to my email." What? She acted as if this was 100% my fault and not the pothead clerks that was on on Feb 27th @ 9:13pm. She did not try to work with me at all and was not apologetic in the least. As if this is what I do for fun...make reservations at hotels and skip out on them. Perhaps the building is nice, great location, wonderful food...I wouldn't know, I never stepped foot in the door. And last but not least, I called my credit card company to make a claim and they informed me that the charge was for $130, not the $90 group rate that I was suppose to be charged for being a guest of the wedding. Moral of the story...Jessica needs customer service training and ALWAYS get the confirmation number. read more

The ultimate 3rd world hotel stay right here in America. Having recently stayed in Mexico on several trips I missed the ambiance associated with the 3rd world. But I found it at the Parker Inn, the room was complete with a tube television . I did notice the phone was missing so I went to the front desk and they politely told me they make a note of it . When I asked about a wake up call she said no problem we will just send someone up to bang on the door . Which I must admit that at 6 am they were prompt about . I am sure the other guest were appreciative of this, well maybe not all . I was warned to not set the thermostat below 68 since it would blow the breakers but my room was a comfortable 71 degrees although others on our trip had room temperatures that ranged from 55 to 95 degrees. They had a continental breakfast include,d I am just not sure what continent it was from, it consisted of breakfast bars and a antique waffle machine , which matched the antique closet size elevator. The neighbor hood was quite entertaining if not a bit dangerous, unless one was perhaps a fleeing felon. The wifi was great, the staff was courteous but when asked if I could get a bottle of water the response was "good luck". My room was clean , the towels and soaps were there and the bed comfortable. I would say the Parker fit in with the neighborhood. read more

The Parker Inn and it's late night staff were fantastic! The room we took was clean, had a modern thermostat, updated amenities, and reliable WIFI. Ryan, the gentleman that checked us in for our late night arrival was amicable, courteous and overall the best hotel clerk I have ever met. A stark contrast to the very rude and irate person working for one of their nearby competitors. The neighborhood immediately surrounding the hotel seemed safe to walk around in both at night and during the day. Much like any city, there are neighborhoods a bit farther away that are less safe, so it doesn't hurt to ask if you are unfamiliar with the area and uncomfortable exploring on your own. Some areas nearby are quite beautiful to walk around in, the Stockade being one of them. If you are a history buff, there are some plaques scattered throughout the area describing key historical events. Overall this was a great getaway and I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Schenectady. read more
