My wife was not thrilled with her Vodka martini, especially being served in a metal martini glass, but my Manhattan was just fine! I ordered the Manhattan Clam chowder and she had a half dozen oysters. Both were excellent! We were served warm bread and butter followed by a salad which is very uncommon these days! My entree was the shrimp and scallops and hers was the duck breast! The shrimp and scallops were good but nothing like I've ever had before! Not sure I'd get them again! My wife's Duck was cooked perfectly and was delicious, although she ordered the fingerling potato's but got garlic mashed instead! Nice service upscale restaurant steakhouse. Nice change from typical beach restaurants in an historical venue with much history. Unlike many of MB/OIB or SB restaurants-this one has stood the test of time with both locals and regular beach visitors -through its tried and true menu selections, great service and beautiful quiet dining areas in this old church. Obviously many come here for a special occasion. And honestly we visited in 1990 and it was just as good now as then. Fresh raw oysters from Va and NC; wonderful steaks, 1/2 rack of lamb done to perfection--all very trimmed and lean. Choice of potatoes-and the mashed garlic was wonderful. Green beans were fresh and well prepared. Salads were standard mixed greens. Desserts were homemade and the carrot cake was one of the best, plentiful, fresh and moist with visible carrots. Nice cocktails and wine offerings. They also offer a fresh catch. I highly recommend if you are looking for something different from the more loud Oyster Rock/Boundry House/Clarks- this is a nice old school but upscale dining experience you will enjoy. Wowza. What a cool restaurant. Served as a Methodist church since 1885. The inside is gorgeous. Dined with 3 other family members. We were greeted with delicious corn bread by our server Joanne, who said she has been at Parson's for 26 years. We enjoyed the sesame seared tuna with soy, ginger, wasabi, apricot glaze, toasted sesame seeds and pickled ginger, and the Parmesan encrusted chicken with shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes, capers and lemon butter sauce. Shout out to Joann for her great service. She kept us laughing. Parson's has won awards from Wine Spectator for their incredible wine offerings. Well food was good, probably above average for a regular restaurant. Below average for the pricing. Appetizers were: Sesame Sered Tuna (very good) Prince Edward Island Mussel(very bad) Savery Wild Mushrooms plate ( not even sure what to say about this, maybe a good side for a burger) We had the Pork Wiener Schnitzel (good) The Sauteed Panko Encrusted Flounder(good but a littled burned) The fish of the day (good) The scallops (good ... but too salty) Pan Sered Duck Breast(good but pretty fatty) Salmon (good) Sorbet (highlight or the entire meal) Now why they earned 2 stars instead of 3. My wife and I came here for our birthday (we share the same birthday). It's been about two or three years since we've been to The Parson's Table. If you've never been here, it's a very unique restaurant. It used to be an old Methodist church and maintains much of decor. There are numerous stained glass windows including the large one in the main dining room from the old Baptist Church in our town of Mullins. Our server, Joanne, was fantastic and as friendly as can be. My wife ordered the Prime Rib which was both flavorful and tender. Absolutely delicious. I ordered the special which was Triggerfish cooked in a beautiful sauce that contained delicious sun dried tomatoes. Loved it. We love this place definitely need to come back more often. read more

This place is so charming. The wood and stained glass were beautiful together. I hate I did not get any pictures of the inside. We started the Pan Seared Shrimp (Maple, ginger and soy glazed shrimp with wilted spinach). The shrimp was delicious. The spinach was so so. They bring out a basket of cornbread. Very good to this southern girl! Our waiter, Josh, was very nice and helpful. I like to ask for recommendations and he gave me his honest opinion on my two choices. I went with the special, Blacked Grouper with Bacon Aioli over Cheddar Grits. The side was a squash, zucchini, carrot medley. This dish was divine. The fish was cooked perfectly and the bacon aioli was a great flavor addition. The cheddar grits were delicious with the grouper and cooked correctly. My husband had the NY Strip with the vegetable medley and fingerling potatoes. I had the NY Style Cheesecake for dessert, very creamy. My husband had the Crème Brulee. The tables were so close, felt like we were packed in. Also had a banquet feel based on the paper tablecloths and basket of cornbread and crackers. The cornbread was warm and delicious! Lovely meal at the Parsons Table. The only knock is that the service took a LONG time. We waited for an hour just to have our salads served and almost another hour just for our entrees. Besides all that, the meal was superb! The restaurant is an old converted church from 1885 with so much charm. There's stained glass and many features that have lots of history here. The floors creek and this was quaint and rustic. I enjoyed a lovely meal of scallops and shrimp with mushroom gravy, sweet potato mash and green beans. The salad they serve is good. My husband and I visited The Parson's Table with family to celebrate our sister-in-law's birthday while visiting the NMB area. The restaurant is located in a beautiful old church with stained glass windows. There was plentiful parking in their attached (paved) lot in front of the restaurant. Every table gets a basket of crackers with a (chive?) cream cheese spread, and cornbread with whipped butter. The cornbread was incredibly moist, served warm, and was outstanding! Each entree also gets a nice house salad with their vinaigrette dressing. My husband had the pork chop with fingerling potatoes, and I had the salmon with the leek and garlic mashed potatoes. Meals are served with a vegetable of the day--green beans in our case. Portions are generous, and I couldn't eat my entire meal. My husband especially enjoyed his pork chop, which was an inch thick, fully cooked, and yet still very juicy. My salmon was also fully cooked, and moist. I enjoyed the accompanying lemon butter sauce. Their prices are comparable to other fine dining restaurants in the area. And the service is very good, even though we had to wait a bit longer than usual for our entrees because we were behind some larger tables. The dinner salads are fairly standard, but reasonably good. My two companions really enjoyed the Swordfish Special and Braised Beef Short Rib, but the Slow Roasted Prime Rib of Beef was not as tender as expected (although still very tasty). 50th wedding anniversary so I wanted to go someplace special. Parson's Table is that and much more!! There were six people in our party and every one had something different. Every meal from the apps to the main course to the desserts was outstanding!! I had a wagyu steak, which was one of the specials, and it was prepared and seasoned perfectly. The flavors literally danced on my tongue!!! So tender I could cut the steak with my fork. No kidding!!!! The waiter, Jamie, was very patient with us as I told him we wanted to take our time and enjoy the evening... and we did. When I made the reservation I requested a quiet corner. We were placed in a nook that had walls on three sides but plenty of room for the six of us so mission accomplished. Overall ambiance was fantastic as the building was originally a small church complete with stained glass windows. Only complaint I have was my after dinner brandy was served in a rocks glass instead of a brandy snifter. Quite bush league for an upscale restaurant but it wasn't a big enough deal to me to lower the rating from 5 stars. I highly recommend this place (just don't get brandy LoL)!! read more

My first time at The Parson's Table exceeded my expectations. Husband and I were there to surprise my Dad for his 80th birthday dinner. Our reservations were 5:30, so we opted to arrive early and have a drink at the bar, where Geri expertly mixed me a Plymouth martini, which felt appropriate for the setting, a cozy converted church with an eclectic mix of stained glass, artwork, and accolades lining the walls. Service is top notch, warm and welcoming, and ready to help make the most of your dining experience. Our wonderful server, Kendra, helped us navigate the menu, and checked in with the kitchen to make sure they could accommodate my gluten allergy. I opted for a half dozen oysters, sourced from the James River, for my starter course. Small, slightly sweet flavor bombs, enhanced by a tangy mignonette sauce and a squeeze of fresh lemon. All entrees are served with the house salad, a choice of starch (ours was garlic and leek mashed potato, sweet potato and carrot puree, or roasted fingerlings) and the vegetable of the day. The fresh garden salad is loaded with veggies and is quite tasty. Our vegetable was green beans, although they looked more like haricot verts - small, thin, and crisp-tender. Yummy. I chose the small plate of shrimp and grits as my entree, so my starch was the cheese grits used as the base of this excellent dish. Plump, sweet local shrimp - I'm so grateful for our local fishermen and women. (Note - portions are large, so come hungry or be prepared to leave with leftovers. My small plate of shrimp and grits did double duty as lunch the next day, and was just as good reheated.) Other dishes that got rave reviews: my dad's seared tuna - he asked Kendra to compliment the chef on a perfect rare sear; the soup du jour, a hearty French Onion; and the prime rib. My father also enjoyed a slice of Key Lime pie, complete with birthday candle, for his dessert. The rest of us were too full from dinner to indulge. Okay, there are plenty of mixed reviews here and some of the bad reviews have merit. So I will try to be fair and sort the facts from the, well you know trivial. So yes, they could spray the weeds and garden a bit outside, add a little new paint and clean the beautiful windows. The place feels a tad bit tired as some have mentioned. When we arrived we were promptly escorted to a table right next to two large parties...having a party. It was so loud it was truly deafening. My wife asked if there was a quieter table and the young gentleman without hesitation moved us to a small quiet room with lovely stained glass. Perfect. We ordered drinks which were made well but we did wait a long time for their amazing cornbread to be brought out. The butter that came with the bread was great except they might want to leave it out a bit to soften, tasty but hard as ice. My oysters Rockefeller was quite nice although the oysters were small. Probably whats available. My wife got the crab cake and was thoroughly impressed with it. For entrees we both got the rack of lamb. Phenomenal. Nothing else needed to be said. Cooked to rare perfection. I would go back just for this alone. And although we are not dessert people we shared the key lime pie. All the desserts are house made and the key lime was amazing.
