Made reservations well in advance and took my wife here for our wedding anniversary. We've eaten here numerous times over the years and have never been disappointed. This is our favorite restaurant to dine. Steaks, lobster and sea bass are always superb. Joshua was our excellent server, he never missed an opportunity to check on us. Drinks are top shelf, the old fashion for me and the wife had the haute cosmo and chocolate martini, all excellent. My wife loved the evening, the manager spoke with us and she wished us all the best. Highly recommend anyone to try it out soon. What a lovely birthday dinner! The silver birthday confetti was a great welcome and our whole meal was excellent. We moved here from Atlanta earlier this year, and the New York Prime in Buckhead was a longtime fave. Tonight, I was delighted that they had crab cake(s) for an appetizer; delicious crab meat, corn, over a mustard sauce, and a four oz portion. We got our usual filet -- no char for me-- and the asparagus and hash browns for us to share. Highly recommend the huge chocolate cake -- serves four and comes with vanilla ice cream, and it was perfect to take home and keep enjoying today. Look forward to going back! read more

2.5 stars TL;DR: mediocre steak house and dishes, nice service, everything tasted burnt Came here for a quick dinner and luckily was able to grab a table without a reservation. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. FOOD: ~Complimentary bread sourdough (3/5): did not taste or have texture of sourdough. Was just okay. ~Complimentary bread raisin loaf (2.5/5): super dense and overbaked. Unfortunately crust was too hard and interior was dry. ~Baked shrimp (3/5): shrimp was overcooked. Sauce was overly lemon-y. ~Sea bass (3/5): was cooked well, but lacked seasoning due to the size/cut of the fish (too thick) ~Bone in ribeye (3/5): was cooked more rare than medium rare. Outside was overly charred and had a burnt taste. Fat was not rendered, therefore, chewy. ~Sauteed onions (2/5): small pieces you could taste the flavor of the onions/caramelization, but majority of it was so "caramelized" that all you tasted was bitter ash ~Sauteed mushrooms (2/5): same as the onions ~Lyonnaise (2/5): the potatoes were cooked okay but not seasoned enough, and again, the onions were straight up burnt. This review is not a reflection of the service and the people that work there. Everyone was lovely and accommodating. The ambiance mirrored that quintessential "New York" steakhouse experience. It was New Year's Eve, there was a bit of a jam as far as getting our table, but that could be expected. The chopped Italian salad was well dressed and the shrimp cocktail was solid. The cheesy potatoes were okay. The sourdough bread was basic. The raisin bread was stale. The Brussel sprouts were served cold, and lacking flavor. The bone in ribeye (oscar style) was lacking in crab and in flavor. The meat was tough. The "American wagyu" is a bit of a red herring and generally steakhouse trickery. The cut was fibrous. Granted "Pittsburgh style" is not for everyone and personally "charred meat" wouldn't be my first choice but these simply were not the best steaks we've had as far as cuts and flavor. Overall, the meal simply wasn't worth the price. But the truth is, most likely it won't ever have to be, for a traveling golf trip or a local splurge in dire search for that New York steakhouse allure. It's not Keens or Bryant and Cooper or Halls. Just simply go in knowing there are better steakhouses out there, and maybe a bourbon or three is required to mask it. My wife and I ate last night at New York Prime. She had the petite filet and I had the bone in ribeye. It was delicious and it was the best steak she ever had. We had a handwritten card on the table that told us happy anniversary. Our server was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our evening. Our sides were asparagus and cheese potatoes. It was good but the asparagus could have a little more seasoning and the cheese potatoes were just average to be honest. Overall great ambiance and it was a terrific meal. I went and had a steak, two other people joined in. The atmosphere was wonderful and the steaks were excellent. Only my steak had a lot of fat in it. I know it's supposed to be marbleized, but this was excessive. I would say half the steak was fat anyway it was a huge steak. I was able to enjoy it. We had a wonderful time. We booked a last minute reservation and was able to get a table for 8 at 6pm. That should have been a sign right there. We arrived a couple minutes early and were greeted and seated immediately. The alter was very attentive all night long making small chatter, recommendations and checking on us a fair amount of time and not once did we feel rushed. The food on the other hand was not very good. The bone in rib eye lacked any resemblance of quality. It was more charred than flavorful. Either they forgot spices or the awful smoked old fashioned. The sides are plentiful and the mashed potatoes and fries with onion rings were just OK. When I'm back in the area I will definitely seek other options read more

I will start off by saying this is not a family friendly restaurant for those with young kids. We traveled from out of town (DMV) to celebrate my birthday. We had our toddler with us and we asked for a booster or highchair and were told we can go home and get one to bring back (umm excuse me) and they don't have any. We thought about leaving right then and there because Ruth Chris would never speak that way. Anyway, the host needs additional training but the waiter was respectful. Our food was delicious with the exception of the bland asparagus that had no salt or butter. Just steamed, untrimmed, flavorless asparagus. The oyster were top tier but the steak and seabass were just ok. Sides are served à la carte and big enough to share with multiple people but if you're a big creamed spinach lover, pass on the one here. Although the valet park, we did ask to park our own vehicle and had no problem. They don't offer anything special for birthdays like Ruth Chris so don't expect a free mini desert. They did have some small "happy birthday" decorations at our table which were cute and shown on my wine glass. All in all, it was an ok experience but we have no plans to return when back in the area. It's a one and done steakhouse for us. read more

When you go to New York Prime, expect a great deal of good service and well-prepared food, just don't expect to get prime rib. Although the name of the restaurant might indicate that it is available, and the ambiance is that of a fine steak restaurant, even though the second page of the menu lists a wide variety of prime rib dishes, don't expect them to have prime rib available. My wife and I were recommended to this restaurant for a special event, our wedding anniversary. My wife had a marvelous Chilean Sea Bass, but I had to settle for a 10-ounce ribeye. Please know that their steaks are prepared "Pittsburgh Style", so expect a crunchy exterior and soft interior. Just don't expect juicy. I made the mistake of ordering my steak medium well, so the result was not flavorful. read more

Pretty good but not great. The oysters were way too big I am not a fan of big oysters I prefer the much smaller half dollar sized. They didn't even have the trademark copper cup for my Moscow mule!! (One star loss) The baked shrimp were good sort of bland they looked a lot better in the pictures. As for the steaks I ordered the bone-in rib-eye recommended by the waiter, probably because it was the most expensivebut don't be fooled my wife got the filet and it was a 10/10 the ribeye was NOTHING to brag about don't be fooled definitely go with the filet!!!
