In NYC, this might be a three star experience. In Danville, KY, where it's the ONLY Greek restaurant, it's a decent four star experience. One must adjust expectations depending on the situation. I had the chicken souvlaki platter, which is essentially a kebab. It comes with a nice fresh Greek salad, rice, and tzatziki sauce. Not exactly juicy, not exactly dry, but not bad. My companion had the mousasaka, which is layered eggplant, potatoes, and meat sauce topped with Bechemel cream. Also comes with rice and the salad. We also had the fries, which are not the typical you see in Greek restaurants. Rather than the crispy crunchy fries with the golden outside, these almost seem air fried. But they were light and airy and we enjoyed them. This restaurant also serves gyro, falafel, spanakopita, hummus and pita, a Greek burger. The reason this place is called Greek-American is because they also serve cheeseburgers, fried chicken, fish, Reubens and BLTs, steaks, salmon, etc. I wish they would focus on just Greek food and make that better, but I understand that is probably tough in a place like Danville. They probably have to have other cuisine options to stay afloat. The service was very kind and attentive and the restaurant is super bright and clean. My friend said it was better than the last time she ate it. She also agrees that this is a, "good for what it is" selection.

Delish! Stopped for lunch with colleagues while in town and everyone enjoyed what the had. Menu has plenty to choose from. Inside is small, but good tables for small groups. Service was fast when ordering at the counter and they bring food out as soon as it's done. The Greek coffee was great too.

We had lunch at The Parthenon in Danville. A tiny restaurant. A nice day so we ate outdoors. Ordered Moussaka as I had been craving it. The salad was a typical version of a Greek salad that you find in the US, only fair. The Moussaka was okay, certainly not the best I've had, and a small portion with a side of unassuming rice rice. Still looking for great Moussaka. 52

A small restaurant with only around 20 chairs but the flavor in the food is big. The lady taking our order was polite and helpful. Went once and the next day went again because the experience was so nice and the prices were very respectable for such portion sizes. I recommend for you to go and have a good meal and a nice time.

This restaurant is a beautiful little restaurant with some fantastic flavors!! I've heard people rave about the food, especially the cheeseburger. You won't be disappointed! Also, extremely clean! It was a noticeably clean and well-kept establishment We ordered Greek nachos, Greek fries, gyro, and pork souvlaki. The Greek nachos came piled high with gyro meat, vegetables, and two dipping sauces of choice. The Greek fries are seasoned well and have feta crumbles on top! The pork souvlaki was marinated beautifully and grilled perfectly. The gyro is stuffed with meat, is appropriately seasoned, and offers a unique blend and taste I have not found anywhere else. The Grilled Salmon Greek Salad is also an excellent offering. The falafel is delicious as well. The service is impressive. The staff exemplifies Greek Hospitality. I recommend everyone to try and support this local business! This place is worth a try if you want a unique experience. Also, on Wednesday, they give away free baklava.

I only have one complaint...everything I've had here is phenomenal. My only problem is having to decide what to order!

Love this place! The Greek Salad is sooo good! The grilled shrimp is always cooked and seasoned perfectly! My husband loves the gyros! The staff is very friendly and service is great!

SO GOOD. Great food and pretty quick stop. We were just driving through and found this gem

Not impressed. $20 for drink, small salad and a piece of baklava. Description of Salad included gyro but there was no protein in the salad. Salad greens were at least fresh but grape leaf was subpar and no Kalamata olives just cheap canned sliced black olives. Vinaigrette was literally all oil that tasted cheap. Was hoping baklava would be a saving grace but no such luck.

Gyro platter with fries. The fries are perfect and the Taziki sauce is top notch.

The Parthenon in Danvilke, KY has a variety of Mediteranean / Greek Style Foods. I do recommend it for a nice Take-Out Lunch or Dinner.

The food tasted incredibly fresh and homemade -- flavorful shawarma, creamy hummus, warm pita, and authentic Mediterranean flavors that don't feel watered down or commercialized. The owner was genuinely kind and welcoming, and you can tell he cares about the food and the people coming in. It's a small, cozy spot, but the flavor is huge. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and everything tastes made with care. If you love authentic Mediterranean food, this place is absolutely worth trying. Lexington has some great local restaurants, and Zaki definitely deserves more attention.  I had the chicken shawarma and it didn't disappoint! The hummus was so fresh. Looking at the pictures on the menu I was wondering if o should order extra. I decided on a gyro platter and it was huge. I should back up. As I'm sitting waiting, they brought out a complimentary cup of lentil soup and it was delicious. Then the platter comes out it was an enormous portion. Also included hummus and cucumber yoghurt salad with a whole pita bread. Everything was delicious. Highly recommended.

My husband is obsessed with gyros and that's his favorite thing - there was a Shawarma plate that said it had steak, chicken and Gyro and what we thought that meant was that it was Shawarma and then there was a Gyro sandwich on the plate, but that wasn't the case. It was just the gyro meat. So that made my husband sad because he'd been looking to a Gyro all day. No fault to them, totally our misunderstanding. The food was delicious and the price was great. There are a couple of things I would like to see updated. When you get the Shawarma plate, everything comes on one plate and that means your salad is mixing with your hummus is mixing with your Shawarma. I would like to see the salad in a side bowl. The plate is so stuffed. It's hard to begin eating because everything is stuffed on there so tightly. I would like the salad in a separate bowl not just to avoid mixing but to allow me a little more room on my plate to begin eating. We will be back and I will probably request my salad in a side bowl in the future. The lentil soup is great and it comes complementary with the meal. I would also like to be able to buy a bigger bowl of that if I chose. I would also like the option of the fried bread pieces to sprinkle in my soup. I tried the cake, pistachio dessert, and that's the only thing I didn't care for too much. It was just very cakey and not my typical type of dessert. I would love to see them partner with Al Taj, and get some of the Dubai chocolate bars in for sale that would be awesome.
