Love finding little new places off a side street ! This awesome Italian newish place in Boone is a welcome change to the all too same style menus everywhere else on King St. plus I love that it's open for lunch. Located just off king St with parking around I walked here when I discovered it online while trying to find something new to me. It looks beautiful from the outside, lots of greenery , it's a old house renovated into a restaurant. I came at the tail end of lunch so it wasn't busy, but they do take reservations. I sat on the covered outdoor patio and loved my table. They have a nice cocktail, wine and beer menu. A lunch menu with apps, salads, pasta and focaccia paninis. I got a empress G&T, which was a good classic. Drew my server was so sweet and very handsome! I ordered a focaccia panini , with prosciutto, mozzarella and tomatoes and mushrooms and basil. When he bought it out he said they had just made the bread. They also make their own pasta. Sandwich was delicious and full of yummy ingredients and the bread was very fresh. Also served with a nice green salad. Then I left room for a little dessert. They have a to die for salted Carmel gelato Affogato. You pick your gelato, which Drew said they import from Italy. This was one of the best I've ever had, they give you espresso separate in its own little vessel. Great end to a fabulous lunch. I would come back here anytime I'm in Boone. Our first (and last!) time here. What a disappointment! The atmosphere, menu, and server all held great promise. However, after more than a hour's wait for our meals with two "your food should be out shortly; our kitchen is really backed up" excuses from our server, our meals arrived, just not at the same time. When my sister's did arrive it was cold. Not, slightly warm. Cold. They offered to replace it but couldn't promise that it wouldn't be another long wait. I asked to speak to a manager and surprisingly it was the very busy bartender who came to our table. He too offered the excuse of how busy they were. It's hard to have a manager manage what's going on in the restaurant and, more importantly, in the kitchen, when he is non-stop preparing drinks behind the bar! We decided to cut our loses, call for the check, and leave. I politely expressed our displeasure to the server, also addressing a charge for an "add-on" (charged more than quoted, of course.) A flat "on behalf of the restaurant, I apologize" and "we were very busy" excuse was offered. Curiously, the warm, welcoming "I'll be taking care of you" attitude of 90 minutes before was gone. We will not return, not that it will matter to them. After all, "they're very busy." read more

Fresh scratch made pasta- the half size portions are perfect for those who get overwhelmed by a huge plate. This chef understand balance of flavors. We had the cavatelli with lobster and shrimp, also the Rosa, the bolognese and kiddo got a marinara pasta. Every single dish to perfection- every single note of flavor was delightful. First time at The Pasta Joint and was very impressed. The mozzarella 4 ways and Beet salad as starters were great. Ordered the focaccia bread as well and think it's made in house, delicious! For pasta we had the Chitarra & Vongole and the Pappardelle Porcini. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the Vongole was amazing and the mushroom pasta was earthy and delicious. Service was excellent--our waiter was very attentive and made the night run smoothly. The ambiance is really unique; the space is small and intimate, and learning that the building actually used to be a jail added such a cool, historic vibe to the dinner. As for the food, the mussel starter was delicious (definitely order the focaccia bread to dip in the broth!). The Osso Bucco was a huge highlight--as someone who has never had it before, this was a fantastic introduction, and it paired perfectly with the greens and potatoes. The squid ink pasta was stellar, though the bolognese was just interesting--not my personal favorite. The only letdown was the lava cake. It didn't have a molten center (tasted just like regular cake), and the strawberry sauce tasted a bit like it came from a carton. Still, a great spot in Boone overall. read more

The Pasta Joint is a great date night spot if you're looking for a romantic ambiance and tasty Italian food. However the portions are quite small, so you can expect to pay a fair amount for a full meal. We weren't too hungry, so we got two appetizers and two half portions of pasta. Because they don't take reservations for small parties, the wait time was very long for a table of two on a Saturday night. We ended up waiting for 40 minutes or so. For appetizers, we got the Grilled Octopus and House Made Focaccia. The Grilled Octopus was my favorite thing that night! It had a lovely charred flavor and was served with a really tasty sauce / vinaigrette. For entrees, we got half portions of the Pappardelle Porcini and Butternut Squash Ravioli. The Pappardelle Porcini was good and had a nice mix of mushrooms. The Butternut Squash was incredible and I loved the filling of the ravioli and the brown butter sage sauce that came with it. read more

Great homemade Italian pasta location. Genuine Italian dishes in a nice quiet atmosphere. There's seating both inside and outside. It does get busy and the parking (as normal in Boone) is limited. Stopped by after spending the day at the Highland Games. It was pouring rain, I'm on crutches, the owner, Dee came out move trash bins so we could park close to the restaurant. Walked with me to make certain I didn't fall. We ordered the bartenders roulette cocktail, which was a wonderful start. Followed by the evening special. A chicken fettuccine with a wide array of vegetables, including spinach, tomatoes, artichokes & anchovies. The blend was absolutely fantastic! Only complaint is although the restaurant was empty and we had reservations we were seated at a tiny cafe sized table in the bar area. There were plenty of regular tables available so we wondered why we were seated there. Very awkward and hard to eat a full meal with no room on the table. Service was nice but a little slow. My wife and I took our middle school son for a special meal since he loves pasta and we all wanted to support one of our new local restaurants. They did not disappoint! Pasta was all excellent and tasted fresh. Staff was friendly. We had even dropped by a few days earlier to ask about wait-times and the owner and staff, for what it's worth, were cracking jokes with our kid. Atmosphere was warm and cocktails were fun. Had 5:30 reservations on a Wednesday. Seated right away , ordered pretty quickly , (2 pasta dishes) 70 minutes no food yet. No one checked on us or seemed concerned we didn't receive order yet. Diet Coke in can was so flat couldn't drink it, mentioned to waiter and then ordered glass of wine instead. Waiter comes to us after 70 min says they lost order he just now put it in front. As we were complaining to the woman who seated us , now 80min our food showed up. No one really apologized for the wait. Food was good but we were aggravated now. Not even offered bread or anything after waiting so long, was even charged for the bad soda. Staff seems to be inexperienced. I hope they do better. Started with cocktails that were expertly mixed, appetizers delivered quickly with great presentation, and our pasta dishes were delicious and innovative. Half portion sizes were perfect for us! I ate here with my family 2 weeks ago and I have been debating whether I wanted to rate it but I just left pasta joint so unsatisfied. I came here and we ordered focaccia bread, that was delicious. I ordered the Cavatelli and it took about an hour to get our food, but it was busy. The Cavatelli just didn't taste great, the lobster tasted really bad, and I ordered a full serving and I barely got anything on my plate. The portion sizes are super tiny at this place. We all left pasta joint still hungry for food, but we didn't want to wait another hour to get another entree. The rest of my family thought their plates were pretty good taste wise but every one of us thought we got barely any food on our plate. Their staff is nice but I wouldn't really recommend unless you can afford ordering extra food to supplement for the small portion sizes read more

Food was ok. Smallest portions I've ever seen for $39. Ordered a Salad and asked for Ranch dressing. "We don't have ranch dressing." Who doesn't have ranch??? Ordered the Castavelli or whatever it's called. The Pasta wasn't cooked. The person I was with ordered lasagna and once the waitress brought the food he asked her for bread that he could eat with his lasagna. She brought the bread 5 mins after he finished his food and proceeded to charge us for the bread $14 BTW. 3 people- 2 half dishes, 2 salads, bread, meat plate, and a full dish. $200 dollars!!!!!! Wanted to pay with cash and was told they couldn't except cash. You're a restaurant not a vendor at a sporting event. What restaurant doesn't except cash. On Dec 27th we went to lunch here. The drinks were fabulous the service, was lovely. We had a vegetarian in our group and while there were some things that would have been suitable a few questions to our server and we were able to order a pappardelle pasta with a non-meat sauce. The Chef utilizes his training years in Italy to create amazing pastas, sauces and unique dishes. The offerings of half-portions was a brilliant way to allow us to sample more dishes. We celebrated a milestone birthday last week with dear friends and each of us agreed the service, ambiance and meals were cuts above. Second visit to this very cool space. Had the octopus appetizer, unbelievable. Followed with the beet salad and pear salad that was absolutely fabulous. My wife had the pappardelle porcini that was full of wonderful flavors and I had the linguine (chitarre ) with clam sauce that was just perfect. About time we get some real Italian in Boone. read more
