We were staying at a nearby hotel and I was able to walk here within a few minutes. There is plenty of free parking if you choose to drive. The Patio is a fun and friendly dive bar. The bartenders and patrons (locals) are friendly and welcoming. The drinks were pour quickly ands very reasonably priced. Granted, I ordered boxed wine, but it was cheap and a good night cap. The jukebox is fun to use and you can connect to it from your smartphone if you download the app. The back room was also nice and spacious, with plenty of games. Tip: purchase the higher priced options to earn more bonus tokens that will let you select more songs. read more

Came here for a quick drink while me and my cousin waited for Seapot to open for dinner. This little hole in the wall bar is super friendly, welcoming and followed covid protocols. There was a hand sanitizing station right next to the entrance, the tables were spread apart, you are required to wear a mask until you are seated and they even have a back area that is open. The bar manager ( I totally forgot her name) made sure we felt comfortable and checked on us to see if we wanted more drinks. They offer bar snacks here which is a big plus. I have only been here once, and I will not return. We came here at night about 6 months ago. I got a tip that they had a Soprano's pinball game. That is the only reason for the second star. I can't explain it, but when my guy and I go places, people are always drawn to us. Strangers come up to us and start telling us jokes, offering drugs, giving us compliments, etc. The patio was no different, only the people approaching us were asking us to buy them drinks and one guy asked me if I would share my Sierra Nevada with him since that was what he drinks, also. What the hell?? Once my guy threatened to kick his ass, he backed off, thankfully. Another guy ordered a round of shots and told the bartender that "She is going to get this one" pointing to me. Where do these people come from? There are sewer rats out there with more class than the patrons of this establishment. You walk in through a typical dive bar door (you know, the kind of door that, when closed, could be an apartment, a used bookstore, a poker joint or, a dive bar!!! - a literal hole in the wall). the bar is right there, L shaped and takes up the right corner of the bar area. No beers on tap - although they have a decent bottled beer selection. A pool table is present to the left. Michael C. and I came here on a weeknight and we were initially the only ones here - we grabbed our drinks and went to the back patio which is huge - and has quite a few tables, a pool table, some video games including video bowling and, get this, a real firepit with a roasting spit - oh, yes! Gotta be back when they have a suckling pig on that baby!!! Heat lamps abound - should the temperatures drop but it was comfortable without them. Oh, you can smoke cigars here which is what brought us here to begin with. So, we spent the next hour smoking our stogies as the patio slowly filled up - some regulars, some newbies like us (you could tell) We did not try or even look at the bar menu - that's for next time. But he patrons seemed friendly, the barman was really friendly and funny, drinks were cheap and, did I tell you that you can smoke cigars here? The kind of people that will sit at a bar and tell grand stories till well past last call. Where a coat check is to make sure you didn't leave it on the bar stool next to you. Where flip-flops are common and guys like Ricky and Bam-Bam sit on their bar stools and enjoy every evening as they have for the past 20+ years. The patio is a dive bar of epic proportions. There is no rush, the bar keep will get you when she does. Lots of hard stuff ready, with the Jack and Stoli always at the front of the line, and about 20 bottles of beer ready to be cracked open. A few Fat Tires, a game of pool, ah the high life, indeed. The older I get, the less I need clubs and places to be seen. Love this place. I came here with my boyfriend, my roommate, and her boyfriend. My first impression as we approached this was "this is totally a dive bar". Wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised The people in there are almost all regulars. My roommate's boyfriend was a regular too so he introduced us to the other customers and even the owners. The atmosphere was super chill and cool. It felt like I was at a friend's house, not so much a bar. I've never had that feeling in any other bars before. And the owners -- you could tell the bar was their hobby and it's awesome that they're enjoying what they do so much. The drinks were cheap and there were pool tables and all sorts of video games. There's even a virtual jukebox! There's a smoking area out back if you're into that. I kinda chuckled inside when I saw the "they love us on yelp" sticker on their door thinking that when I got back to write my review I would find like 100+ reviews. Not the case, since they are only 6 reviews so far. So by yelp standards, it's still kind of a hidden gem. The patio doesn't wow you with an awesome menu, bartenders that do flair, million dollar soundsystem, etc. But what it does have is the crowd and atmosphere. I know everybody says this about one establishment or another, but The Patio is MY bar. It's one big family there with a lot of regulars as well as new faces that discover this gem on a whim. Tom and Becca are the owners with other family members and a few close friends behind the bar. Stiff drinks, good prices, and even better music since you can choose it. They want you to feel comfortable and have a good time. Many, many great nights there as well as good friends made. Don't quite remember how i ended up here but i brought 2 friends with me since we desperately needed new bar grounds to explore. Very dive-y there is a pool table, several tables with stools. bar flies buzzzzzin but not obnoxiously, so this i very much llike. my first night there, the kind lady bartender offered us free cupcakes (from a birthday?). i looked hungry and was hungry so helllll yeah! my second visit, the "cowboy" had bought the entire bar a round on him. Its a dive bar, with a standard set of regulars. But its a good place. The staff is a small bunch and they're very tight, so you get more of a family atmosphere here than at most bars. Don't let the small interior fool you, go out the back door where they have a HUGE area closed it. I think its only 'technically' outdoors for legal reasons. Its got 4 walls, a roof and doors. And even heating pilons for when it gets really cold. Smoking out here is A-OK and there's a TV and pool table and speakers so you can still here the jukebox. Sometimes, on holidays or on special bar events they BBQ on the pit back there and service it up late to all the bar-comers for free, even late into the night. read more

We had a great time here last night. If you go make are to get there before the cover, it's only 5 bucks and it usually starts around 10:30. They have a great patio outside that's kinda smoky but fun, the drinks are strong :) and the beats are bumpin. Last night they actually hired a drummer to play and it was awesome. If you see a long line, don't fret, the line actually loves really quickly. The security is very tight though so don't think about sneaking anything or anyone in. read more

So every summer, a friend of mine and I go out and try to find new and interesting bars. On this particular Saturday, we remembered a bar near the 24 Hour Fitness in Sunnyvale called "The Oasis" and wanted to check out. We had seen it before, but couldn't remember exactly where it was, so as we were driving down El Camino, I saw a bright sign that said "Karaoke tonight" and decided to pull into the tiny driveway, just as my friend said "Oh look! A bar called The Patio!" Needless to say, we had to check out both. So when we first stepped into the bar, we noticed that it was really tiny, and thought it was called "The Patio" because it was about the size of a backyard patio. Nice, cozy place, and the bartenders were pretty friendly and poured really stiff drinks. I ordered a Maker's Mark on the rocks, and it was roughly the size of a triple anywhere else I would have gone to. Since it was so small, I thought maybe there was more in the back, but I looked down a narrow hallway, which would be the only way into a back area, and saw the door for the women's bathroom, and shrugged it off and sat back down, and a little later, my friend did the same. My friend later remarked that maybe something else was back there because he saw a woman bringing some drinks back there, and we doubted that she was drinking in the bathroom. So I told him that I was gonna hit the head, and when I got back, we'd go investigate. Once I reached the men's room, I noticed that there indeed was an entire backroom that was larger than the front of the place. It had that bowling video game, heat lamps, and was smoker friendly. Lots more people were hanging out back there, and because of the smoker friendly area, I'll have to make sure to come back to this place. But for that night, since we were in discovering new bars mode, we soon headed next door to the Oasis. read more

While not much to look at from the outside, and easy to miss as you drive down El Camino Real, it turned out to be a friendly and comfortable place to meet friends and/or have a drink. They have reasonably priced drinks, but no beer on tap unfortunately, though they have a okay selection of bottled beer. A couple of pool tables, several televisions, electronic dart boards and video games give you plenty of diversions, along with the namesake back patio. read more

My buddy lives around the corner so we come here for happy hours to play darts and kick back. It's a great neighborhood bar, divey but not dicey and definitely not pricey. The Patio is Sunnyvale's best dive bar imho! I have been going there for years and enjoy every visit. The owners Tom and Becca are great people. They want to have fun and make sure everybody that comes to The Patio has a good time. They host a lot of bday parties / bbqs where they provide amazing amounts of free food. What I really love about this family owned and opperated business is the fact that they give back to the community through various charities. Every Christmas, Beca and Tom host a blanket run to SF to help the homeless children. A few months in advance, they collect as many blankents and clothing at the bar and then jump on their motorcycles and deliever the goods to the city for the kids in need! I can't say enough about how great Becca and her family are. The back patio is super chill... You can smoke, drink, play pool, or just be entertained by the regular suspects! What can I say about The Patio? It is a very home-y bar, and that's a good thing! The owner's are really chill and uber friendly; Tom will play a round of pool with you, but I don't know if you can consider it playing if he beats you in one turn and with one arm! hahaha. The only reason why I am not giving them 5 stars is because there have been a few instances where my friends have been super wasted, and the bartender's charged them for drinks they didn't order! Im not a huge fan of dive bars before I came to The Patio. First time I went there the owner Becca threw around of Space Balls at me and my wife and friends on the house and then said "welcome."Even now and then we'll get some drinks for free and teh bar tender will drink with us. My point, it's a extremely friendly and family orientated feeling bar with a nice juke box playing the hits, 2 rooms decorated with dart boards and pool tables. My favorite bar in town. This place has friendly regulars, great drink prices, pool and darts (both inside and out), and the parties they throw about once a month at always a great time. Many or the regulars, myself included, smoke cigars on the covered back patio while shooting pool, throwing darts, or just hanging out chatting. This is a great bar on Fridays or Saturdays if your looking for a hot spot with lots of great people.
