Their new prices are ridiculous. They charge by the pound and according to their weight system our Lab is deemed as a "Giant" so we had to pay $46. They also water down their shampoo so it barely suds up. This place is not worth the money for a simple "you wash" dog place. read more

I have been coming here for years. The place recently changed owner ship and is not what it used to be. The shampoos provided have always been concentrates diluted with water. However they apear to be more diluted than ever. Also there is now a requirement to tie your dog to a ridiculously short loop while bathing them. A properly trained dog should not require such restraints. It can make some panic. In addition just like people, dogs can have disabilities that are not always seen from the outside. They did not seem to care nor did they bother to ask if there reason why I refused to oxide by their rule. Just that was the rule. Do not let someone push you in to something you know is wrong for your dog because it is their rule. I have yet to decide if I will give them another try or if I will just move on. I used to highly recommend this business. Sadly I do not know if I can in good faith do that anymore. read more

My husband and I have been bringing our dog here for years. We used to visit every couple of months, but it has become more challenging since having our son. Today was the first time I attempted to take my dog in by myself. My dog is usually very well-behaved; the only thing he dislikes is when we spray water on him. Without my husband, my dog tried to jump up on the counter to escape the water. One of the owners stepped in to help me, getting soaked in the process, and I can't thank him enough. Ownership has changed since the last time in. We entered the business and told the person (owner?) at the register, that we had not been in for a long time and asked for direction. We were directed to a dog tub. The owner immediately placed a short cable leash on my dog before I could get my leash off. The owner then tried to force my dog to turn around in the tub to clip the short leash to the wall. My dog was already stressed and this stranger manhandling my dog did not help. The owner gave a good short briefing on soap, water temp, etc. We were directed to use a blow-drying station behind us when we were done with the bath. The dry station he told us to use was directly next to two other guests drying a large, long-haired dog that was shedding white hair like a tornado. We noted that these guests were also using the dryer unit from our station. We asked the owner if we could just use one of the four other open stations. Instead, the guests were directed to stop using our dryer, and into the tornado we went. We were immediately reprimanded by the owner for not toweling off our dog prior to moving to the drying station. The owner continued our reprimand us by pointing out, "we try to keep the floors dry" and that we were now at risk of shock from a nearby outlet. During the owners briefing, nothing was said about when and where to towel. We left covered in the hair from the neighboring dog, and hardly any hair from our own German Shepherd. I at first thought the 2 guests were employees because the owner was so rude to them. We will not return. read more

Place is fine but last two times I have gone to wash my dog there is an employee smoking right at the entrance. Pup and I turned around and left both times. Pretty sure there is a rule about smoking within 100 feet of a business entrance. It is gross and so unprofessional. Losing business over this can not be worth it to the owner. read more

I have been a client for 4 years. I have seen the business change hands 3 times. I normally have a great experience considering I have a Husky that is not real fond of bathing, this time he did GREAT! It was not until check out that things took a turn. I was asked to have my doggie get on the scale, totally normal routine. I said "He's 85 lbs" the employee needed him on the scale anyway. There was a doggie behind the gate at a check out. My doggie went to see who is behind the gate. He stood for a few seconds sniffing the gate and curious about the doggie on the other side. No barking no bad behavior cues just curios. I was asked to pull my doggie back away from the gate and get him on the scale. I said to the employee, "oh he's friendly". The employee response was........but this is a "SHOW DOG". I politely got my 86 lb dog on the scale. Next time I visit, I hope "SHOW DOGS" are not more important than family dogs. read more

Wash the Dog is a great place to take your smelly doggie. They have everything you need to get your pup looking and smelling great. The shop was a little messy when I first came in but they had it cleaned up quickly. The tubs are setup perfectly and have steps for easy access with a collar setup so they can't jump out. The grooming tables have very nice driers and all the brushes, nail trimmer, etc you might need. I paid extra and one of the groomers trimmed my girls nails for me. The cost was very reasonable especially considering all you need to bring is towels (they offer towels for a charge). I was not expecting them to provide all the extra equipment so it was a nice surprise. Will definitely be bringing our girl back in the future. read more

Very very disappointed. Had never been here before and will never return. Called the day prior with a few questions that were answered by a very nice lady. Brought our three leashed dogs to the location today and when my husband walked in with one of them, he was treated quite rudely. Instead of being greeted kindly, she snapped to 'take the tub in the back, the rules are right there'. He advised her that we had three dogs and asked if they had any kind of cage or containment for our third dog while we washed the other two. The same lady (short haired lady on a scooter for some sort of leg injury) snapped that we had to 'contain them at all times', that we couldn't "just let them wander around", this of course was not our plan. He was very nice when he asked but she was Just very rude and curt and had a nasty attitude to a new customer. And no, they weren't busy during this time, maybe 3 or 4 dogs. We left immediately and luckily got our pups in for a full grooming (instead of a self wash) at another location downtown Puyallup. I would never return here, ever. And I had such high hopes being as how nice the gal was when I called the day before. Oh well!. There are plenty of other places around that will be happy to have three more sweet dogs (and nice people) as clients. read more

Unless you are desperate don't go there and even then bring your own soap if you do feel so inclined to spend a ridiculous amount to wash your dog. The only thing this place has going for it is a convenient location. We used to go here often when they were at their old location, they had walk in stalls that my old large breed dog could easily get in and out of. At the new location these are gone, replaced with waist high stations with some sort of step that doesn't look very stable. On this visit the soap was so watered down it was pure liquid (the consistency of water), luckily we had brought our own soap just in case. There were no full size towels provided, I had to ask and was given one and it was stained and ratty. If anyone has ever tried to dry a soaking wet dog you know, one towel isn't going to cut it. I was going to do an add on service and was told my dog didn't need it (he's been having his glands done at the vet for years, because he does...) and her grooming team had already left for the day. She told me I should have asked for it when I walked in. Another person came in wanting a nail trim and was told the team had left early, we were there around 2PM, they are supposed to be there until 3PM. This person was told they should have called in advance to confirm. There was no accountability on her part, everything was "you should have done this". Her team were the ones not adhering to the advertised service hours. My experience with checking out is the reason I will NEVER go here again. My retriever mix is 134lbs the stores baths are priced by weight and XS - XL have the weights listed next to them at the bottom it says Giant Breeds (St. Bernard, Newfoundland, etc) are $30 but there is no weight listed. My dog is not a pure giant breed and by the sign should be charged as an XL (60lbs+, $25). $5 is not a huge deal and I wasn't going to argue with her but said "customer feedback, you should put the weight for giant breed on your sign like all the other weight classes have listed". Her response was she felt like it was self explanatory, I continued by saying "customer feedback" again and she was rude and uninterested. As a small business owner if you don't appreciate your customers and provide sub standard services, you will probably struggle. She very clearly did not appreciate her customers so we will not be back. Other reviews echo this poor customer service and the bad attitude people experienced from the owner. read more

Just don't go. We were first people in the store on a Friday. The tubs still had hair all over the inside and in the drain. Most of the "shampoo" and "conditioner" bottles were close to empty. The quotes are because the ingredients are the consistency of water. The grooming stations were covered in hair trimmings along with the floor. The grooming tools look like they were bought at the Dollar Store. My husband and I brought our two dogs and were asked several times by her and her full-time groomers (as the shouted across the store) about "why didn't we come in on Wednesday when there is a discount on having multiple dogs". We made another epic fail when we asked for towels. More shouting across the store between the owner and the groomers "you read the web-site and still didn't bring your own towel!?" It was a $2 charge and we didn't want wet towels in our vehicle. The owner then gives us hand towels...not bath towels, little hand towels. Yippee. Next epic fail was after I finished bathing. I started to take my dog out of the tub and head to the grooming station. The owner bellowed across the room and then ran to pick up and dump my dog back in the tub. "I'm a small business owner and I don't have insurance for that!" There wasn't a sign or any previous instruction on how things are done. The store is loud. The owner wants to the hear the blaring radio over the blowers. Also, there is a $1 charge for using a charge card. This is not on the website. read more

We have tried several self dog washes in the 5 years we have had Ramzi. We enjoy the self washes since we don't have to bend over, can get Ramzi's belly well washed, and don't have to clean up at home. Wash The Dog came up on google when we were looking for one close to us. I believe the only parking is on the street, which is free for 2-3 hrs depending on where you park - and it isn't hard to find. The price here is comparable to other self dog washes we have been to in UP, Federal Way, and Tacoma. As with some other places, they have you weigh your dog at their shop before checking you out on your first wash. We brought our own shampoo since Ramzi has atopic dermatitis and doesn't do good with changing products. Another thing, you can control the water temp. The only down side to this place compared to some others was that the dryers are only located at the grooming stations, so if you have a dog that doesn't like baths to begin with (thats Ramzi) then it might be difficult to relocate them up (and by that i mean i have to pick up my 65lb dog who does not stay still, and some lady there was staring at me LOL) to the grooming table to get dried when all they want to do is run out. Up side to the grooming station is I can clip his nails (with their supplies) without him making too much of a fuss. If i want to be (and i will here so others have a heads up) nit-picky I would say that the staff could have showed me where the supplies were and how to turn the water on at the bath, but i'm sure most of you can figure that out on your own too. read more

I was visiting my daughter and took her German Shepherd, Daliah, to a local dog park. Daliah got pretty dirty so I went to Wash The Dog to give Daliah a bath. What a wonderful clean place. I was immediately greeted and asked if I needed help, which I did. The person there, sorry I can't remember her name, was so helpful. She explained what each of the shampoo's and conditioners does and told me to use the entire bottle for a dog Daliah's size. She spent time with me to make certain I was really getting down into the coat. When it came time to dry off Daliah the fur was flying. The person helping was there vacuuming up the fur.
