Since we stayed at the Wuksachi lodge it was super convenient to have dinner here. I ate here twice. First night I got the broccoli and chicken fettuccine and the second night the trout. I thought both were great. The pasta did need some extra spice (so for red pepper flakes). Our table was right by the window which gave us fantastic views. I thought the service was great both times and enjoyed the pace of the evening. I look forward to coming back someday! read more

A cozy lodge restaurant with a lovely view of the mountains. I'm surprised to see this restaurant has as low a rating as it does because we had an excellent meal here! Perhaps we just ordered the right things? We got their Grilled Salmon (which was phenomenal) and their daily special, which was a Beef Stroganoff (which was good). I'd definitely come back here again just to enjoy the salmon! We also had a dessert (Mountain Berry Pie a la Mode). It was good, but I probably wouldn't pay money for it again. But would satisfy a sweet tooth craving if you have it. Pro tip: request a window seat table if you can! read more

If you're staying at the lodge in Sequoia National Park, this really is the only game in town for a restaurant. You don't want to drive those 30 miles of narrow twisty roads--it us a solid hour each way back to town. I really don't understand all the really super low reviews for this restaurant because it really is fine. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than, you might get in town, but they had to haul all the food up all this way. And haul all these workers up all this way, so it's actually a pretty good deal for what you're getting. The beer is cheaper than what I paid in Bakersfield. There are entrees as low as 9.99. I quite enjoyed the chicken pot pie. We did think the chicken marsala was a little bit dry and probably won't order that again. But so far, it's actually a really promising experience. Wow--we didn't expect a park lodge restaurant to have such good food... actually one of our best meals while roadtripping on California. We had the grilled chicken sandwich and black bean burger. Both really hit the spot. The black bean burger was two parties with cheese. I got the macaroni salad as a side, which was very tasty. When we saw they had no fries --just chips-- we were expecting a boring package. But they actually fry their own potatoes to make them and they are great. Also the ice tea was fresh brewed and very refreshing. Service was friendly and we even got a free postcard of Sequoia. read more

Pizza Deck: Lucy needs new job duties & should not be behind the bar at all. She does not know how to pour a beverage. Multiple experiences with her over the week have left me very disappointed. I don't want to hear it's "your company policy" when the next drink I get from someone else is perfect. She needs re-training. She also can't roll in the cart from outside without losing the paper plates - as she threw the whole stack in the garbage she mentioned this happens all the time. Learn from your mistakes and put the plates on the cart where they won't fall off. The ham sandwich is not good - avoid that one. The rest are pretty good & a pretty big. Unfortunately the chili option was unavailable every day I was here. The 12 inch pizza will feed 2 hungry people. The $9 salad is single serving, small side salad size. Inside we had the trout almondine and roasted cauliflower with curry sauce. Both very good. The breakfast buffet is fine - it's a lot of food. It is unclear if you pay at your table from our waitresses comment when dropping off the check, saying we didn't have to wait for her. But we had to wait a while anyways for her to come back and run our card. Also irritated with Lucy in the morning getting a breakfast burrito to go. She's lucky there was a breakfast burrito with bacon in the case as she charged us ahead of time before seeing what was available. Got there a little early and had to wait for our table -- it was surprisingly busy for a Monday night! We grabbed seats at the bar and ordered the Sequoia Signature Margarita, which was awesome. Our bartender, Brent, was fantastic and recommended the Apple Bourbon Pork Chop -- and wow, he was right. The sauce was spot-on, the pork was juicy and perfectly cooked. (Apologies for the blurry photo -- my excitement got the better of my camera skills!) My friend ordered the Trout Almondine and the Roasted Cauliflower and Vegetable Curry with Chicken. The curry wasn't very spicy, but it was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. For dessert, we shared the Crème Brûlée and the Chocolate Torte. We couldn't resist digging in before taking pictures -- both were some of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Big compliments to whoever made them! 1) if I'm going to pay $19 for a burger, I'd generally expect it's not a thin Costco premade patty. Made it even more hilarious that they asked how we wanted it cooked. No way in the world to make that thin puck of beef medium. It was well done the moment it came out of the freezer and hit the microwave. 2) the poblano soup was actually pretty decent. The lone shining star. 3) we decided that wuksachi, translated, means "terrible pie." Never in my life have I left pie on a plate. 4 of us working on one slice couldn't finish. As the only restaurant around, I was pleasantly impressed with the quality of food and service here. We've been here the past two nights and I had the Duck and Ribeye - both were delicious! The Burger, Chicken wings and Trout Almondine were also good. Finished with a nice scoop of ice cream. Prices were okay, considering they have to bring everything in a long way. Servers Rebecca and Leslie are amazing, and the Manager is very kind, especially when they make a slight mistake. The restaurant is beautiful, not too crowded, and with gorgeous views. There is now table service in the dining hall again, but plan to dine earlier, or wait a bit for a table as it fills up quickly. You can easily snag a drink at the bar while you wait, but there is limited indoor seating while you wait (this is a smaller lodge). This is not fine dining, but the food was genuinely good, if not complicated/fancy! Our filet was cooked perfectly to medium rare and was a quality cut of meat. The summer salad was huge and had very fresh fruit in it - easily could be a light meal on its own. I liked it so much I ordered it twice. The lunch pizza is better than the evening pizza but both were hot and fresh. We had two wraps with chips - the chicken salad and the hummus wrap - and they were both ok with the hummus being the winner. Cocktails were good too. For being the sole restaurant in the only hotel located in Sequoia National Park, this place is as good as it can be. With that being said, wait times for food is not normal. Expect to wait a little bit, as folks from both the hotel and those visiting the park may be coming together at peak times. The service here is what you expect. There are more visitors than wait staff so they can be overwhelmed at times, but they try their best to keep their cool demeanor and ensure you're having a good time. They ID every single person, regardless of how you look. They will ID you. Don't take offense to it, and please follow their rules. The food here was good. My wife got the chicken pot pie, which she begrudgingly gave me a bite of. Very, very good. I got the chicken wings, and they were as expected -- your typical buffalo chicken wings. The dining hall is a big open area with very high ceilings. There are also big windows that line the walls so you can see all the trees outside. Ambiance was *chef's kiss*. We stopped by the peaks restaurant in Wuksachi Lodge for lunch while we were at Sequoia National Park. We had to place an order at the counter and get an order number. This took around 15 min since there were several groups ahead of us. They bring your order out to you, but water is self-service. We chose to sit indoors since it was a very hot day. There is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. We got a great table by the window and could look out into the national park while we ate. We got the baked acorn squash. The other vegetarian options were the soup of the day, 2 salads, a personal pizza where you pick the toppings, and a vegan hummus wrap. The baked acorn squash was delicious! It had a quinoa and goat cheese filling and was very flavorful. The roasted carrots and brocolini it came with were well roasted and had good flavors. You can pick a soup or house green salad with it. We picked the salad, which was ok (didn't like the dressing much). My husband also got the chicken wings, which he said were pretty good. Overall, the food was much better than what we were expecting and it was surprisingly very vegetarian friendly! It is a little pricey though! read more

The Peaks is a restaurant located in the same building as the Wuksachi Lodge in Sequoia National Park, CA. While it is extremely convenient for it to be in this somewhat remote and secluded area, it is quite disappointing that they were not open when they told me they would be for breakfast one morning (9/10/20). The night before, my family and I had dinner and drinks here, though. For draft brews, they had Lagunitas IPA, Blue Moon, Bud Light, Stone Brewing, and a few others. I tried the General-Sherman IPA ($8.50) because I typically enjoy IPAs. It was good! My brother was given a sample of the Gen-Sher IPA. He wasn't a fan. Lol. So he stuck to Bud Light ($7). Our kiddos shared a sausage pizza (12" for $17) which they thoroughly enjoyed. My brother and I each got a brisket plate with potato wedges ($18.95 per plate). The brisket BBQ sauce was infused with Gen Sherman IPA. Of course, it's pricey, but the convenience factor is huge (when they are actually open when they say they will be) considering the long, winding road that leads to the lodge from Three Rivers. The staff was real nice. Social distancing and masks during COVID were required. Dogs are allowed in the lobby and on the outdoor lobby. read more

I'm honestly surprised this place is so poorly rated. I think if it were in a normal town or city it would deserve the 2.8 it currently has but when you consider how remote it is and that it is in a National Park you should cut it some slack. It's decent food at a reasonable price in a place where they could easily charge double because you have no other options. My wife and I visited after spending 3 nights in the nearby national forest. Service: Pretty average but they were friendly and brought us our food in a reasonable amount of time. The ordering process could have been smoother, but we were glad for the wine and pizza after making camp meals for 3 nights. Food: Also pretty average but again, we were going out to eat in a National Park so we were happy to get what we did. We split a pizza which was more than enough and cost about 19$ and each got a glass of wine which wasn't garbage and only cost 8$ a glass. All seemed pretty resonable given the location. Ambiance: Actually pretty nice! There was a lovely deck with heat lamps and umbrellas for various weather conditions. We had been hiking for days so we chose to sit inside, which was a large dinning hall with a fireplace at the end. Great views out the windows with simple chairs and tables. read more

At first, I was going to order the seafood chowder in the sourdough bread bowl, but once our server said it was like a Manhattan chowder, I downgraded to a cup. Thank goodness he gave me the heads up! I took two spoonfulls of it and then had the bf eat the rest. Very fishy. The chopped salad was a good sized portion. It was not overdressed and the white corn was a nice touch. Service was friendly and helpful. Friend waited over an hour for them to pour a bowl of chili. When he went to check on it, they didn't even realize he had ordered and paid. Gave it to him then. Once seated, the views were inviting, as was the decor and historic photographs on the walls. We enjoyed the filet mignons and a soup plus salad. Each was delicious, but I suggest ordering your meat one temperature above what you like as the cook on both was rare when we asked for medium-rare. It's still delicious, though. The meal was wonderful until dessert - Avoid their creme brulee. It lacked any flavor, the custard was grainy, the sugar crust was very, very thin, and it was served in a soup cup..it should be served in a shallow dish. Quick and Friendly wait staff Burgers cooked to order- perfectly medium rare. And big too!!! Great potatoes Salad- not over cooked potatoes. French fries not so much. Despite the limited menu (several items were unavailable on a few evenings) and long lines to order dinner, we still enjoyed dining here several times during our stay at the lodge. The staff is extremely pleasant, our meals were prepared quickly, and overall the food was delicious! A bit pricey for the amount, but considering it's the only real dining option in the park, we were fine with it. Our favorites were the Caesar salad and personal pizzas, but the chicken teriyaki and chicken pot pie were good too. (French onion soup was just ok.) I also appreciated that cold water was available for self-serve, it allowed us to refill our glasses quickly (we drank a ton of water at dinner after hiking all day.) This place would be so much better if they could take orders more efficiently. We had about 10 groups ahead of us, and it took 45 minutes to get to the front of the line to place our orders. Not hyperbole, literally. They were out of many things, but nobody knew till they got to the front of the line which added 5 minutes to every order while people figured out backups. The staff could have put out a sign (besides the tiny one by the register) or walked down the line letting people know what items were available (less than half the menu). There were two women at the front, but one was mostly standing around, while the other woman took orders and poured drinks. Here are some ways you can improve: Two registers. Walk down the line taking orders while people wait to pay. This gives you the chance to inform people about what is available and answer questions without blocking. Move the register away from the taps so someone else can pour drinks before or after payment. The register area is crowded and dead ends, figure out a better arrangement. If you follow even half of these ideas, you can cut down the time spent in line by an order of magnitude. read more
