I always liked Leeward Drive inn to me the food is good when I lived in Kunia and my kids had field trips I used to go there to buy their lunch They loved the school lunch, me is the breakfast or the plates depending how I feeling I get the BBQ hamburger steak plate. Come to think about it I pretty much tried all the menu the chicken is Ono Service is good sometimes get busy over there but it's a good place for lunch or takeout

I received a prompt from YELP about what people were saying about NOODLES from Leeward Drivers Inn and how good they were. I looked at the menu and it looked interesting with a lot of good local plates. I decided to go check it out for myself. It was 8 pm on a Wednesday and it was well lit up with plenty of parking for pickup and takeout with a few metal picnic tables in case you wish to eat there. My wife ordered homemade Kalua pork with cabbage. I ordered the fried noodles and for an additional $2.99 you can select a meat so I added bbq chicken. My plate total cost was about $20 and my wife's was about $22. There was a sign at the order window that stated if I show them a 5 star YELP rating I would automatically get a 10% discount but at YELPERS know, you are NOT ALLOWED to take any free gifts for yelping. It could distort ratings. We got our take out containers and I was shocked how heavy the bag was. It was a two man lift just about. There is no way 1 person could eat this much at one sitting. The bbq chicken was delicious and the noodle was perfect. I was very happy with my plate and will definitely go back! My wife loved her freshly homemade Kalua pork and cabbage. We didn't know that with the plate came additional fried noodles, Mac salad that was delicious along with lomi lomi salmon and haupia. It was just a great meal. And she also said to put it on the list of places to order takeout. They also serve breakfast plates at night and through the day as well. I felt the quantity and quality for the money was a great deal. And I was glad that YELP alerted me to checking it out if you like noodles. But they have so many more options to choose from that though they promote the noodles you have so many other good choices that you should really come here to see for yourself. You won't be disappointed and bring an extra heavy duty bag cuz those plates are heavy!

Needed a place to eat in Waipahu after hubby's softball game that would be open after 6pm, so I looked up options on Yelp. Reviews for Leeward Drive Inn made me hunger for fried noodles so we headed there after the game. Had eaten there before years ago and I thought I remembered the fried noodles being more like fried saimin and that I really liked it. Ordered the fried noodles with a side of teri beef (reminiscent of my fav fried saimin place that closed years ago). Hubby ordered the beef curry bowl. His was piping hot and plentiful for the price, with a decent amount of beef. He actually had enough for lunch the next day. He liked it (or he wouldn't have offered on his own to eat it as lunch the next day). For the price, it was a good choice since he said it also tasted good. It was local style brown curry (not Hawaiian style yellow curry). My fried noodles were not like fried saimin - I guess I my memory was faulty. It had diced/chopped kamaboko and char siu that was mixed together and there was a decent amount in the noodles. However they had no flavor, which seemed odd. The noodles also didn't have much taste. None of the saimin seasoning that fried saimin usually has (but it didn't say it was fried saimin so I can't fault them on that), however it still had very little taste. So disappointing, because I'm all for almost any type of fried noodles if it's tasty. The teri beef wasn't juicy, with no extra juices to flavor the noodles so that idea was a flop. Also not tender... For the price I was disappointed since it wasn't very flavorful. I only had enough left over for a small lunch, not like other fried noodle places. Service - generally ok for a fast food take out place, but just ok. Our cashier was polite to us, but I did overhear two people who also ordered drinks and had to ask for their drinks when their food was given to them. First person had to ask twice. Second person reacted with annoyance (understandably) when he said he didn't get his drinks and cashier responded a little curtly that she was "getting it now." Seating - There are two long metal tables with attached bench seats to either wait at for your food or eat at. Benches are not comfy because they are metal, but you do get to eat there if you want, which we did. There's a sign that says 45 minute limit to eat there. Lots of phone in/on line orders were being picked up so this place is popular. Maybe it's just the fried noodles that's a disappointment, since hubby's beef curry was good. If I come back, will try something else. They have a decent amount of items to choose from. It's really hard to see the menu behind the glass because of its location (behind the two tables) and the glare. You can scan the QR code to pull up the menu, which is probably better and the prices have already gone up since the last menus posted 5 months ago (that's just how it is now days). UPDATE - after I posted, I noticed there was a question asking if they had changed their noodle source. Several responses indicated the noodles weren't like before - so I guess I hadn't imagined that it was better before.

Comfort food! Just food that comforts the soul. I came back to eat the beef stew that reminds me of my dad's cooking. I love how large the drink portion is. I also gave their guava turnover a try. It is absolutely delicious. I also had to eat their Hawaiian honey cone a second time. It was delicious and messy and just how I liked it. The beef stew was a generous portion. The burger was hot and sweet and perfect. Everything about my meal was wonderful.

Went today after seeing ads on instagram and reading Yelp reviews! They have a massive menu best to figure out your desire before getting in line to order! Their food is really 4 stars! - BUT the homeless guy parked on one of the tables was the biggest turn off! He not only smelled poorly but was asking people to buy him food! Allowing him to sit in front of the order windows and asking patrons to buy him food was totally the biggest turn off! We got the ultimate plate - fried noodles- excellent, Kal-bi ribs - oh man so so good , sweet & sour pork - I'll skip it next time, hamburger w/ gravy very good, fried chicken- so good. The Kalbi was very skimp 1very small section. The plate was massive and lots of left overs. Next time I'd get a 2 item mix plate and get the Kalbi and fried chicken in my opinion the top 2 best items! The fried noodles is also a great selection. Cheese burger- I loved their hamburger w/ the addition of tomatoes lettuce and onions would make it perfect! Fried rice and 2 eggs - really good fried rice highly Our order sat on the counter and it wasn't until my husband asked about our order did they bag it up and hand it to him! A real disappointment! A few suggestions: check out their menu before you get there. If you've waited more than 15 minutes check on the status of your order especially if they aren't busy- outside seat is limited and if the same homeless guy is parked on one of their tables you're going to want to find another place to eat! But the food is good and plentiful and one plate could feed 2 people.

This lace is a popular local plate lunch spots on the island. They are located in the Waipahu are but still able to sell plate lunches at a clip of $20+, haha. No matter when I come here, there is a consistent flow of customers and during peak hours tons of people waiting for food. Their plate lunches are massive and comes with a ton of food ~ main dish, rice under it, Mac/potato salad, cabbage salad, and their famous fried noodles. Their Teri beef is one of my favorites on the island. The Teri beef always has so much flavor and nice and juicy. Their fried noodles is what draws crowds. A bed of fried noodles slightly flavored and topped a generous amount of char siu, fish cake, and green onions. You can get the special fried noodles that adds bean sprouts for bit more. It's a take out window only with a few large shared tables outside. Don't expect fancy when you come here, as there can sometimes be questionable customers or peeps hanging outside.

    Leeward Special
    Teri Y.

I'd been meaning to try Leeward Drive Inn for ages, but every time I was in the area I had other plans. On this day, it was after 2:00 pm and I was super hungry! I was pleased that there wasn't much of a line, and ordered the Leeward Special--it was HUGE and I had enough food for several meals. I loved the giant portion of what I think are hand cut fries, and the pork sandwich was tasty. I'm only removing one star because despite there not being too many people waiting, my food took around 45 minutes, and I had ordered at the walk up window, not eat-in side. Had I expected that long of a wait, I would have gone elsewhere, since I was on a work lunch break. There's a parking lot, but things get a little crazy in that lot, so if you go, pack your patience, and don't plan to be in & out quickly. Other than that, the lady at the window was very nice. I'd go back when I have more time.

@fortunefoodfinds: "Hope y'all are have-INN a great Memorial Day weekend! A Chicken Katsu x Kalbi Plate Lunch Combo served w/ 2 scoops of rice, mac salad, tossed salad, n' fried noodles + a Cheeseburger n' Chili Cheese Fries from Leeward DRIVE-INN in Waipahu. When it comes to celebrating a holiday, eating good is the one thing I know how to do!" SERVICE: friendly n' fully staffed INTERIOR: n/a, takeout only EXTERIOR: on the corner of Pūpūkahi n' Pupupani, limited picnic style table seating (4) WAIT TIME: 5 mins before placing order, then received food after 15 mins PARKING: free lot OVERALL COMMENTS: plate lunch combo was huge, more than enough to feed two. Chicken katsu was crispy n' came with katsu sauce. Kalbi was so tender n' very well marinated, delicious. Loved that it came with a lot sides, they are known for their fried noodles. Cheeseburger was simple but was moist n' flavorful; it's nice when you come across a good mom n' pop burger. Chili cheese fries was also a huge portion n' they did not skip out on the chili. The soggy fries worked really well with it, inhaled it all. The best part was that my kids enjoyed everything just as much as me n' da hubz did. We even had leftovers to take home. Comfort food that is worth coming back to again n' again!

Came again and it's still so good! This time we got fried chicken and garlic chicken plate. Yummmm, the garlic chicken is so yummy! Sweet sour Korean chicken type beat. Very good. Not dry Aunty gave me gravy for fried chicken and it's so yum :) Comfort food for a happy tummy

    Spareribs was okay!

Mediocre food. I ordered the lunch box and the ultimate mix plate. All the rave for the big fried chicken? Also the fried noodles. I don't know what was special about it. It tastes okay to me but not memorable. I think I was just turned off on the long wait time of 30 minutes, but again it was lunch time. I'll go again and try something new. Overall it was eh okay. The food have already been prepared and I know it was not freshly done, but why it took so long just to put it together. I believe 3 stars for the fast overall. Mood: not as satisfied as I would want to be Again? Yes, try different plates that are more popular

Expect to be waiting 45 minutes or so. I was first in line and ordered a bbq plate and ramen. Ordered around 1:15pm and it's almost 2pm.. almost everyone who ordered behind me got their plates already. Not sure why I keep getting bad luck when I come here ‍

Ono plate lunches that are big enough to share. Popular & busy spot in Waipahu... expect a wait (even if you call-in the order). Plate lunches come with rice, mac salad & fried noodles. So good!

She ordered the chop steak - I thought tasted ok, but it was seasoned heavier than my mom would like. Portion was right for the price. I got their signature Loco Moco burrito - SAD. It was $20, majority rice and mac salad, no meat. I needed a knife to cut the burrito in half, there was no counterperson or anyone available to ask for a knife, so I kind of looked around their register area and found a random one on the side, cut the burrito in half, DEFINITELY NOT how they showed it on TV, if the counterperson came back, I probably would have asked for them to swap it out. We were sitting for about 25 mins - nobody came back to the counter? If it wasn't for the counterpersons unfriendly attitude I was planning to buy their signature dessert to go, but I was turned off by the whole experience AND he didn't come back out anyways until literally I was throwing our containers away. From start to finish, the experience was amazing. Everything tasted great, and the student who served us made us feel very comfortable. They checked in often to see how the food was and whether we needed drink refills. The service was truly five-star. We loved every dish, especially because the flavors were well balanced and never overpowering. The blueberry scones were not too sweet and paired perfectly with the cream cheese. The salad starter was fresh, and the phyllo was crunchy and flavorful on its own. The crab was delicious and well prepared. For the main course, I had the pork loin with apricot and prune. I could choose what I want to eat and I could go back for seconds if I want lol. Our waiter was great, he changed our silverware and topped off our drinks without us asking. The ambiance is great - it's clean and stylish. The standout dishes for me were the bbq pork with cornbread, the lilikoi tart and the Japanese potato salad. Hope to come again next semester.
