We both the chicken katsu and ebi fry lunch special and we added 10 piece katsu-kushi and 2 pieces of the mushroom katsu kushi (I think I honestly do not remember). The chicken katsu and ebi fry lunch special was good, the curry was pretty flavorful. It reminds me of golden curry I'd make at home. The katsu was crispy as expected. I liked the rice too, the perfect kind to soak up the curry and pair with the katsu. The Katsu Kushi was fun to eat as it had a good amount of variety. I enjoyed the mochi quite a lot, the beef was a bit tough to eat, and I would note that the soft shell crab was extremely fishy. Like INEDIBLE fishy. I don't know if they always have it like that or if it was just an off one. Either way it was NOT pleasant. Had a BOGO 50% coupon and was hungry for Tonkatsu so I made reservations. Arrived at 5pm and was promptly greeted and seated. Surprised there was another party already there. Place was filled by 5:30 or so. Go early is you done want to wait. Servers were great. Very attentive and helpful. They wanted to be sure we understood what the two salad dressings and two tonkatsu sauces were. They checked on us several times during our meal. I requested no onions in my miso soup. When it arrived there were onions. I was just about to pick them out when she rushed over, apologizing for forgetting, took my soup and brought back a fresh bowl with no green onions. Our drinks came quickly (hubby's was Orion, mine Toki whisky in the rocks) and both were great. The plate with pickled cabbage, kimchee, kimchee takuwan also came quickly. Everytime I've been here the food has been pretty good. This review is for my visit right now. I tried to order the 10 piece kushi katsu moriawase. Waitress tells me she's out of asparagus, so I thought I had to pick a substitute. No, she can't sell it to me because she cannot substitute anything. I can see not being able to substitute if customer's are asking, but you're the one out of one thing in the dish. I really enjoy this place for a comforting meal! The two times I came here it was pretty early so didn't have to wait for a table. For my most recent visit, I ordered the ebi fry and pork loin katsu. Both the ebi fry and pork loin were crispy yet moist on the inside. I also like it with the sauce that you get to make by grinding the sesame seeds. The cabbage with the dressing is a nice addition for some freshness! We also ordered some kushi-katsu on the side such as zucchini, Maui onion, soft shell crab and a beef and chicken one. They were all pretty good but a bit pricey for one stick each. Overall, a filling meal with some leftovers if you order kushi-katsu in addition to your entree. The portion size was good for me since I wasn't super hungry but if you are hungry I recommend getting the regular size. I also ordered the shishito pepper kushikatsu which was ok. Expensive for the price. My meal did come with cabbage salad, there are 2 dressings. Our server gave us more cabbage too. My husband got the ebi curry and he really enjoyed it. Catching up with the recent Kdramas on Netflix had me craving tonkatsu. Been wanting to try Koromo for a while now and this did satisfy the craving. Super convenient as it is at Pearlridge mall - phase 2 (they keep changing the name) parking entrance. We did get there around lunch time so we did have a 20-min wait which was fine as my sister had a few minutes to shop at the Korean skincare store. Before giving my phone number to get on the waitlist, we did notice there were tables outside and also counter seating but for some reason, those sections weren't open. And honestly, because of the Kdrama series I just finished, I wanted to sit at the counter. And so we waited 20-mins. Our server was super sweet and attentive and answered our questions. Even for the weekend, the lunch menu is available which is good because it is less expensive and it's a half portion. No leftovers to carry around while shopping. My pork katsu was cooked perfectly, moist and soft. Many other places will over cook it and just too hard to cut into and eat. My sister enjoyed her chicken and shrimp curry katsu. And the veggie katsu skewers also very good. It was fresh when it arrived. Not oily and not burning hot. But do be careful biting into the mushroom, it's juicy. The restaurant is super cute. As I made a reservation for lunch, our table was waiting for us when we arrived. I had the pork loin tonkatsu for lunch. It came with sesame seeds to crush and mix with the two tonkatsu sauce. I enjoyed both sauces, but favored the more tangy sauce. The pork loin was fried perfectly and the meat was juicy. It had a good balance of fat that kept it tender. It took some time to come out but they kept us occupied. They let you grind up your own sesame (to pair with the tonkatsu sauce) and it's UNLIMITED CABBAGE! They kept topping us off! Ambiance was a few steps above casual. It's clean and nice in there. Upscale I would say. Just a fair warning it is a little expensive, some dishes pushing $30-$40 per plate. The sesame dressing we usually crave was available at the counter, but it had a surprisingly sour kick that had my eye twitching with every bite. My spouse had the same reaction and ended up preferring the darker shoyu-based dressing, which had a more balanced, flavorful taste. Definitely not what we expected, but it worked out! The curry was delicious hot, fresh, and satisfying. The pork loins were tender, juicy, and had minimal fat, which we really appreciated. We also tried a few side kushikatsu: mushroom, short rib, and zucchini. All crispy and tasty additions to the meal. I ordered the PORK LOIN KATSU TEISHOKU 190g (6.7oz) for $28.25. Each set comes with thinly-sliced cabbage, Kimchee, Tsukemono, Seasonal Miso Soup, and your choice of white or brown rice. The tonkatsu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I loved all the sides, especially the kim chee radish. Service was very pleasant. We got the katsu curry, a small pork loin katsu, and a 3 piece chicken katsu. The meals come with shredded cabbage and two different dressings - miso/sesame. Both good as well. Something about having a pile of finely shredded cabbage that is refreshing. The teishoku meals came with miso soup and rice. And the regular menu items also came with kimchi, pickled daikon, and pickled cabbage. All of it was good and filling. We took home two bento containers and the sweet server gave us extra cabbage because she heard my daughter say how much she liked it. It was a Monday during an odd time, 2pm, but was still busy. We ordered a few kushi katsu items to share, a tonkatsu and kaki (oyster) curry katsu. All items were delicious, but the oyster katsu really surprised me. It was hot, fresh, salty, sweet, juicy and was great to dip into the delicious curry. The curry is very reminiscent of what Curry House curry used to taste like pre-Covid. Nice simple ambiance and clean. I usually don't dine at a Japanese restaurant and eat Katsu (cutlet) in Hawaii because I always compare it to Japan. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. We gave her our orders and in no time we were served. For starters we were served miso soup which was good. I was pleasantly surprised how tender my Katsu was. The thinly sliced cabbage is always a great complement with rice. You might ask, If I enjoyed it so much, why give a four star? It's because I didn't get free refill on my Coke. I had to pay an extra $3.75 for a refill. Also, in Japan you can get more rice, cabbage and miso soup at no charge. All in all it was good. Would I return... maybe.
