We had Pigs Tail Mac & cheese and 3-meat bbq with green beans, mashed potatoes, & okra. The food was all very tasty! My husband loved the meatloaf with cheese-smoky flavor and a nice seared edge. I've been frequently this place for over twenty years, and always loved the food and charm of the place. It's the Southern atmosphere that makes the place unique on Oahu, there's no other place similar. A big part of that atmosphere is the music selection. In the past they've usually played Southern Rock and Country, or at least had it in the mix. The past year or so though, every time I go in, it's hip hop or pop on the sound system. I can go to dozens of other establishments on Oahu and hear that plus get decent food. A big part of why I go to DG, is not to hear that! Bartenders join is fine if there's nobody in the place, please bring back the Country music when there's customers, or at least get an electric juke box, so we can mix it up a little. read more

My most recent experience this past weekend has me regretting it lol Had lunch with some of the homies here this past weekend for a birthday. We specifically chose this place because of their special limited time Mardi Gras menu and it did not disappoint. I've never had the luxury of having a shrimp po boy despite always seeing it on TV and social media. I'm definitely not a New Orleans food expert but I know a tasty sandwich when I taste one. The po boy had really great bread, the shrimp was battered nicely and it came with crispy lettuce and tomatoes. The creamy sauce put it all together and made the sandwich even better! A couple of my friends ordered their jambalaya and brisket sandwiches. Forgive me for not snapping photos, I was uncharacteristically locked in on trying the food that I actually forgot lol. Both the jambalaya and brisket was packed with flavor! The price point of everything imo has to be the best deal for this type of food around. The service was quick and served with aloha, solid job. I used to love this place and it's been about 5 yrs or more since I've been here. Sadly, this visit will be my last as it was highly disappointing! First of all, I came in here because of an advertisement I saw on IG for the Crabfest in Oct 2025. The Crabfest is only weekly specials for the month of October and nothing really special. I feel the advertisement did not explain enough of what Crabfest meant for this business. We ordered a Crabfest bucket to share(party of two). The bucket costs a little over $200 and it comes with 1/2 lb of Dungeness, snow, and king crab with shrimp, fried soft shell crab, corn, sausage, and potatoes. They had no corn and offered to substitute it with another side, which ended up being fries (NO CORN FOR A SEAFOOD BOIL BUCKET ?!). The king crab should have been thrown out the night before, it was stale and tasted off. The potatoes were hard, the sausage could have been cooked longer, the seafood should have been hotter than how it was served. The establishment needs to be more attentive to how the food is served and its temperatures. The prices are not worth the food quality or amount on the dishes. I do not recommend this establishment as there are better options for seafood on the island. read more

I'm not normally one to come back and update a few times. But this really deserves it. The business reached out to me in the kindest way to apologize for what happened on our visit. We went back a couple times and enjoyed their bbq. Their bbq and sides are fantastic. Their corn bread can't be beat! I'm still a little afraid to try things off the actual menu, but again, the bbq is amazing, so I don't see a reason to. The service had seemed to get better, and that was so nice to see. It had redeemed itself so much that when a last minute promotion came up, and we needed a place that could hold 30+ people easily, I gave them a call. Ivory was so kind and helpful! She made sure we were all good to go, and let us pre order appetizers to come out as soon as people were showing up. They reserved the entire back patio for us. 37 people showed up, and we had the best time. The service was amazing. The food we pre ordered came out right on time, and was delicious! I came here for the crab fest but was disappointed because 3 of the items were sold out. I ended up ordering snow crab and king crab and skipped on the dungeness crab since that's too much work to eat. I came around 2:30pm and all the seats inside were taken so we sat on a table in the patio. The patio is covered but it got real hot with the afternoon so some of us got a tan on our back and legs. The staff took a very long time to take our drink order and when they finally took it, we waited another 15 minutes to get the drinks. We weren't a big group so it was odd that it would take that long for drinks. We ordered our food and waited another 30 minutes. The food came out and it was hot so that's good. The snow crab was very good but the king crab was overcooked and it was dry. We're just glad we had butter so we drenched the king crab meat. Their prices are reasonable but they need to work on their service and the bar and kitchen needs to speed it up. We had a really fun visit to Dixie Grill while watching the eating contest with Raina Huang! My mom, my son, and I enjoyed some food along with the event. My mom had the chicken fried steak with sausage gravy, paired with cheesy grits and mashed potatoes. Every part of her plate was delicious -- a true comfort meal. Our son had the mac n' cheese with French fries, which was wonderful to see made in-house (he has some picky allergies, so this was a huge plus!). I tried the Crab Cake Burger with a side of fries (I substituted regular fries for the sweet potato fries). While the burger itself was a bit bland and dry, requiring extra mayo and wishing for lemon wedges at the end, the overall experience was still enjoyable. One odd thing: my son's fries portion was about double mine! The restaurant was lively, and the event made the visit extra fun. I'm excited to come back and try more of their menu -- their fish and chips looked amazing at a neighboring table. Well...if I happened to have picked a time to go out on my birthday, today was that day. This time, I went to take my family over to Dixie Grill, and this time tried something different there. It was pretty busy, but you can certainly tell it was no ordinary Saturday, given how many people were eating at the time. The appetizers weren't too bad. We ended up getting the shrimp and the fried okra. The okra was very addictive and the shrimp was nice. Last time I remembered coming here, it was for the catfish. That time, I ate the 1/2 rack of ribs with coleslaw and brussel sprouts. And from first impression, it looked nice to want to dig in. My family had ordered a bunch of different stuff. My sister got the catfish, my mom got the crab cake, and my dad ordered the brisket. Overall, it was not a bad return to this place. Once again, Dixie Grill delivers on the food. Not bad at all. Maybe next time, I should consider trying out one of their desserts because it would have been nice to enjoy my birthday on a good note. After hiking nearby we dropped by this restaurant to try it out. Like the indoor outdoor feel of the place near Pearl Harbor. The outside has large picnic tables and umbrellas, the interior has a lively sport bar feel with music playing in background. Friend ordered burger and fries and I ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs with coleslaw and Brussel sprouts as my sides. Friend liked her burger, they brought 6 different bbq sauces to our table to try. We did a mini tastings of the sauces on her fries. I have a mixed review on my rib meal. Really liked the Brussel sprouts, tasty seasons. It was my first time here, and I ordered the Big Ed burger. Overall, the flavor was good. I liked the brisket! However, the bacon tasted a little burnt. The burger was also a little dry, and I felt like there could have been some sauce or something to balance out all the meats. I also felt like the serving of fries was a little underwhelming. From the Happy Hour menu, we ordered the Beer-Battered Onion Rings with Sriracha Sauce for $7 and Fried Calamari with Pepperoncini & BBQ Aioli for $11. Both tasted as expected but it was the sauce that made it better. Under "Seafood" I ordered the Southern Fried Catfish with 2 sides...Cornbread and Corn on the Cob for $23. For the catfish, there was only a thin layer of fish breaded with cornmeal. I could taste the crunchy coat more than the fish. When people order catfish, they want to taste the fish with light batter and not the other way around. Wished the fish was thicker. Under "Hot from the Smoker", my husband ordered the Turkey with 2 sides...BBQ Baked Beans and Mashers & Gravy for $19. For the amount of food that was given, it was like a child's portion. It didn't satisfy him so I gave him half of a catfish. Would never order this again! This is a regular place for us, but our first crabfest so we were excited about it. Two of us had the she-crab bisque. It had a lot of crab meat and was pretty filling. I am a sucker for deviled eggs but didn't care for these fried ones with sauce. The artichoke dip was good. My husband got the buttermilk pie and he liked it, but my two bites tasted like freezer burn or how things taste when they are stored uncovered in a refrigerator. hm....been more than over a year since we've been here. Decided to change up our regular Friday night spot and come here for drinks with friends for a party of 11. We were seated outside (covered), which is nice. There was a little area for the young kiddies to play while the adults can enjoy our time together. But our server, the attitude like we are inconveniencing her. The rolling of eyes and the tone was unnecessary. I was polite with my "please" and "thank you" when placing orders or asking for more napkins/utensils. When receiving the tab, we were surprised with the automatic 20% gratuity added. While we were in the bar upstairs for line dancing, we realized that there was no food! The bar told us we could order food and bring it upstairs. We immediately ordered some pupus to bring up. I had to go to the bar and ask for menus and they still didn't make it to the table. I also had to go to the bar to pay the bill. Our waitress finally showed up after taking orders from people seated after us. She charged us $6.00 for two sides that come with the three meat smoked special. The cost should be $27.00, the waitress charged $33.00. Check out the photo of the receipt and menu.. When confronted she tried to tell me they were premium sides. Premium sides don't exist on the menu! I paid for the sides. I had to ask for BBQ sauce twice before it arrived. The sauce arrived in screw top bottles that were filthy, caked with BBQ sauce! No squeeze bottles!!! I could hardly touch the tops...totally unsanitary. They don't provide you with knives to cut your meat. The $14 Mai Tai is very weak...not worth it! The boneless wings and fried calamari were delicious. The brisket was good, I've had better. The fried okra was good. There were very few brussel sprouts, mainly leaves. I've trained hostesses and waitresses in the industry many years ago. This is the first time in my life that I stiffed a waitress. I talked to the owner and suggested she retrain her staff. This means brisket, pulled pork, fried pickles, okra, crab, and more! The restaurant has indoor seating and a private room, but I liked the backyard feel of the covered picnic tables. Our group was taken care of by awesome servers who regularly checked on us. Our food and drinks arrived quickly and my pulled pork sandwich was delicious! I had fun taste testing my sandwich with the 6 different barbeque sauces they offered. They offer catering and can accommodate group reservations and private parties. Let me just say this loud enough for the people in the back: THE ED BURGER IS A LIFE EVENT. I didn't eat it--I had a full-blown relationship with it. This beautiful monster is stacked with a juicy beef patty and brisket like it's trying to win a meat Olympics. Add melty cheddar, crispy bacon, and fresh lettuce all hugged by a glossy bun, and you've got the culinary equivalent of a bear hug from a Southern grandma who misses you. The customer service? Next level. Everyone was super friendly, quick with the drinks, and made me feel like I was already part of the family BBQ. (Minus the passive-aggressive potato salad judging.) And let's not ignore the crisp little salad on the side--it's like the burger brought its own chaperone just to say, "Yeah, I balance my life." I've only been here for lunch though, and they have some pretty decent BBQ for the price. On my latest venture (today) I had the brisket sandwich and a side of fries. The sandwich itself comes with an overflowing amount of meat, a said of pickles, and enough coleslaw to spread on the sandwich. The waffle fries were nice and crispy, not greasy, and piping hot. You get your choice of 6 sauces on the table to add some spice to your meal. They also have one meat and two meat plates with a generous heap of each meat, the prickles, and coleslaw. Others at my table had the Brussels sprouts, which were roasted with bacon. Everyone recommended getting them the next time. Sweet tea is standard fare, but you can also get unsweetened tea in a big old 24 oz. cup. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful.
