Loved this place for drinks and a board. Played jenga! Relaxed atmosphere delicious drinks great vibe

Attended a mixology class at The People's Stand with Dallas Black Bloggers, and it was an absolute vibe! From the moment I walked in, the music, energy, and setup were perfect. We made a cocktail using their in-house strawberry-infused gin (my fav fruit ), and it was so smooth and delicious! The DJ kept the energy up all night, and we even had a little charcuterie break between rounds. Such a fun, interactive experience with amazing people and great drinks. If you're looking for a fun night out in Dallas or something different to do with friends, definitely book this class. 10/10 recommend -- I'll be back! Reese the GM was AWESOME!! Friendly folks, good music, the sports are playing, and the drinks are nice with the outdoor balcony vibes! The staff shipped up a Rico suave and the passion fruit kicked in the aftertaste. Overall nice drink! I haven't been here or tried enough things long enough so take what I say with a grain of salt

Came here on a Saturday night for my birthday celebration. Upon arriving, it was pretty chill and there was a class happening. We found ourselves a place to sit and began ordering. I had the sacred death which was as good as the first time I've had it. This place consistently makes great drinks! Their bartenders are quite skilled and the waitress was a vibe! She took care of us! We played games, vibes to music and enjoyed some great beverages! This spot is a no brainer for a good time!

The charcuterie board was amazing enough for 3 or 4 people. Cocktails were great and service was outstanding. Ambiance was nice. Couches added a nice comfortable homey feeling. Take a sweater or jacket it was very chilly.

I love the art in here

Drinks and charcuteriiiieee! Came here for the first time for a poetry night and had a blast! The ambiance was very fitting and motivational for my personal aesthetic! Cool and collected and the SERVICE! The SERVICEEE!? AMAZING! My server was absolutely amazing! Accommodating! They mean it on their menu when they say they will make whatever you like and request because they truly will & DO! Highly recommend!

What an awesome experience!! Came in to take their evening cocktail making class for my friend's bachelorette party. We did not stop laughing and smiling the whole time. It was such a fun experience that People's Last Stand offers. Our teachers were so amazing and friendly and really helped us out. They also have options for non alcoholic if you have someone in your party that cant or doesnt drink. The drinks were very tasty and you definitely get your moneys worth in terms of strength of drinks. I would highly recommend for date night, birthdays or any type of fun gathering. The bar is super cute too so we hung around afterwards to hang out. Will definitely return whenever i'm in Dallas next!

My friend dragged me here for a cocktail making class and at first I was opposed to going but I'm so glad she made me come! It was sooo much fun! The teachers were brother and sister which is cute and they were lit! The drinks were really good and they made the class such an enjoyable experience! 10/10 recommend if you're in Dallas and looking for something to do as a date or just as a fun experience

Talk about the best spot for a girls day! Went for a private cocktail class, it was the best time! Staff were great & very welcoming. The drinks we made were perfect 1 vodka based & 1 tequila based. Loved that they played music just for us at times. The place is uniquely designed, love their picture selection. I will definitely be back to hangout or attend another class.

I had a really great experience at The People's Last Stand. I went to celebrate a relative's birthday with a cocktail making class and the class offered an opportunity to make two cocktails. I loved the music selection they played during the class and the instructors were great.

Word of mouth and Yelp have sang praises so we finally made it happen. The lead up is insane. Park under the building, take an elevator up, walk through the beautiful alcove and there it is - Sixty Vines. Swanky, dark, and sultry - a bit much for my taste, but I get the idea. Our waiter was nice, but could not get wine to our table. Like - acted as if there was some Harry Potter issue going on, just could not get wine to our table. And I know that's a lot to ask, but also shouldn't be, considering it's a wine bar. The place was dead - 5 PM on a Monday and he even prefaced by saying as much, and suggesting we try a few, but every time we'd order a glass, or heaven-forbid a flight, he'd disappear for literally a half hour. I get that people get busy, but wine at a wine bar just feels easy. We had the zucchini and the truffle fries - they genuinely banged. Zucchini could've used a little more love and care, but the fries were crazy. I could've eaten them all night. Had a few great wines too, but again, crazy how long it took to get to my table - and I could see the taps! No one was busy. Real Bummer. I told him several times to bring some red before my main so I could enjoy something dark with the red sauce, and low-and-be-freaking-hold, I finished my BRAISED PORK with a Sauvignon Blanc. Did I do something to offend? Was I being punished? IDK. The Braised Pork Pappardelle and the shrimp-garlic pasta thing was fine. The shrimp one being really garlicky - probably a bit too much. For some fu**a** reason, they both came to our table on the colder side, again, why? We literally had plans to go through a few reds and bubbles, but after two hours of this, we said "let's leave". So we paid and bounced. It's a fine place, I guess, it just really flopped for us. James T. put it nicely, "So middle of the road, absolutely and unmistakably average." Just hurts after months of this place being talked up, getting a baby sitter, driving an hour, and dropping $150 for this place to miss the mark. If service was better this could've been a 3-4 star review. Really makes a difference. I'll be at Hudson House & Barcelona Wine Bar if you need me. MGMT: Figure the service out - please. I'd be happy to try again, but I need to know my food will be hot and the wine will flow - again, it is a wine bar after all.

Once arriving you are welcomed to complimentary bubbly while you wait to be sat. Service here was great for how busy it was. Here is what we ordered - **Starters** Korean Fried Cauliflower: I was the only one that ate this and omg it was really good, it satisfied my cauliflower craving lol 10/10 Truffle Parmesan Frites: these were outstanding 100/10! The freshly grated Parmesan on top was chef's kiss. Tuna and Avocado Roll: this was fresh and paired nicely with the sauce. 10/10 **Entrees** I got the Joey Classic Steak (on accident lol) but I'm not disappointed. The steak was cooked perfectly. The "crispy mashed potatoes" were unexpected lol. They were more like mashed potato eggrolls/flautas, but tasted fine. Id give this plate a solid 8/10. My cousin ordered the New York strip and she had just about the same notes on her dish. 8/10 My other cousin ordered the Steak Ravioli Blanco, she cleared her plate so I'm going to assume that she really liked it lol. 10/10 Lastly our waitress brought out a complimentary dessert since we were celebrating my cousin's bachelorette weekend, this was such a nice gesture, I think it was cheesecake and the flavor was delicious so 10/10

I ended up only ordering a drink and an appetizer because I was so disappointed I didn't want to go further. $23.75 Joey Martini - just a simple dry vodka martini w Kettle One. But the description lured me in with the promise of a fantastic martini with an "extra martini on the side". What I received was a half of a martini with the rest of my martini in a shaker next to it. The martini was fine but nothing special. Not the first time I've overplayed for a drink but I do feel a little funny about the way their menu sold me then undelivered. $19 Hummus - The food was an issue for me though. When I order Hummus, I expect to receive hummus. Like the dish should be 70-80% hummus with some light toppings and some good pita bread. What I received was a pretty plate but very little actual hummus and a disaster of pita. First, they made a pretty plate circle of a small band of hummus then filled it with extra stuff to make it APPPEAR as if the center was filled with hummus yet there was zero hummus except for that small outer band. I estimate 49% hummus and the rest tzatziki and garnishment. Don't get me wrong, very aesthetically pleasing and tasty "extras" but the menu item isn't titled "EXTRAS with a little hummus". It's titled "Hunmus". And the pita... oh boy, what a mess. Proper pita is lightly grilled - served warm with a nice sponginess yet bite friendly approach. This pita was way over saturated in their butter/oil, and crisped up to the point there were burn marks and char on every piece. Horrible pairing with hummus and JOEY should know it. I feel these other reviews may be fake honestly as the prices are insane and the execution quite poor. Be careful. $45 for a $15 meal isn't worth it. Go somewhere else - I'm including a pic of the "hummus" reveal so you see what I'm talking about

Began with a signature cocktail, The Bracco, frozen, not sweet, refreshing with a delicious punch of grapefruit. Perfect for a hot evening in Dallas! You MUST get the biscuits with butter and homemade orange marmalade. It's a must. Salty, buttery, and with a sweet/sour tang of good marmalade. GET IT!! Split the wedge salad. Yes, you should split it. It was big! Plenty for two to split as an appetizer easily or you could add some filet to it for an entree. Will do that for lunch. And probably split that too! The giant bacon cubes and quality blue cheese crumbles are my reason for living. Entrees we tried (this time. We'll definitely try more items next visit): got THE crab cake. It is big. More crab than cake, which shows the quality. Wasn't a fan of the butter sauce, I thought it was too heavy for the delicate crab and would just ask for it plain with just some fresh lemon but the cake itself was perfect with jumbo lumps. Came with fries. Fries and dipping sauces were excellent but may ask for a different side option to keep it lighter. My daughter had the miso glazed salmon which came with potato puree with buttermilk....omg the only fault with it is that there wasn't nearly enough, and a jalapeno slaw, which was crispy and creamy with a little kick to it. Perfection! We also tried the side of creamed corn. Not sweet. Definitely savory and not too heavy, which was nice, with a little mild pepper kick. Desserts we took home because we were stuffed which were the carrot cake and the chocolate pie. We'll eat those tonight while watching tv. I have no doubt they will be great too. Definitely make a reservation. They get crowded. It does get noisy as well. Oh, and hopefully you'll have the best server Jemima. During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Between the atmosphere, welcoming service, and well-crafted drinks, it's definitely a place I would return to the next time I'm in town.
