She found Leroy's Southern Kitchen & Bar in Punta Gorda, and let me tell you this place isn't a restaurant it's a whole Saturday night experience! I walked in thinking there had to be a festival, birthday party, or somebody famous in town. Nope! That's just how they roll every Saturday. Live music, people dancing, everyone smiling I started wondering if they slipped happiness into the sweet tea. Now the wife ordered the Nevermind Pressed Burger with extra cheese and black coffee steak sauce. NEVERMIND?? More like Never mind my diet! One bite then another then another and suddenly her plate looked like the dishwasher had already been there. The burger was cooked perfectly, juicy, cheesy, and that steak sauce should be illegal in at least 12 states. Meanwhile, I ordered the 10 oz. Skirt Steak with jasmine rice, carrots, green onions, and their house made Asian marinade. Listen whoever made that sauce I need the recipe, your autograph, and your retirement plan. I was this close to asking for a to go cup so I could pour it on my cereal tomorrow morning. Mama mia that steak disappeared faster than my paycheck after my wife says, Let's just stop at one more store. Then dessert happened. We saw our neighbors order the homemade Banana Nilla Pudding special. My wife looked at me with that look that says, We're getting one. Fellas you already know that's not a suggestion. Well she got one. I got exactly three bites. THREE! ‍ By the time I looked back, the jar was cleaner than the windows at a car wash. Dear Lord now I understand why my doctor keeps telling me to watch my sugar. That pudding almost had me scheduling my next A1C appointment from the table. The live band had me singing songs from back in the day don't ask which ones. Some of y'all are detectives and I'm not giving away my age! And a huge shout-out to Athena! She knew that menu like she wrote it herself. Friendly, funny, attentive she made us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit. So thank you, Uncle Leroy! Between the food, the music, the atmosphere, and my wife stealing 97% of the dessert, this was the perfect way to end an unforgettable Father's Day getaway. Five stars. Come hungry leave happy and if you order the Banana Nilla Pudding, order TWO. One for your wife and one that you hide under the table. Trust me.

We ordered a Cuban sandwich, Crunchy Cod Po Boy, Roast Beef Hoagie with cheese and a PEI Mussels Provencal. The Cuban sandwich, Cod Po Boy and Roast Beef Hoagie were fine. The side order of potato salad has a little too much vinegar. The star today is the PEI mussels Provencal. The PEI mussels are not huge, but they were well prepared with garlic, capers, herbs and white wine. My other favorite lunch dish is their Fisherman's Chowder. We finished our meal with Peanut Butter cheese cake and a key lime pie. They were delicious! Another fine meal at F M Don's!

So many bites were bad. I asked the server what was up- she figured it out. It's not shells it's SAND!!!!! They're not cleaning the clams well. Bro. Rookie mistake. This is why I never order scallops. I hate when they're sandy. And now clams?!? I have to stay away from clams?!? Sheesh. She asked if I wanted bread- I said yes. I wasn't sure if the bread was included? It is not included and is an up charge at other restaurants (The Perfect Caper is an example of that, as well as Ortigia). She gave me one piece. It was delicious, served warm and crispy, and the whipped butter was fantastic. I asked what the butter was a Wisconsin country cream. Clean ingredients. Lots of salt. Yum. I also got a small cup of their soup. Amanda said their soups are always good. The soup of the day was braised beef noodle. It was really good. I could see having a bowl of that and a piece of bread and being totally happy. I was torn between the meatloaf and the Portuguese stuffed shrimp. She recommended the meatloaf. Oh boy. That was a great choice; it was huge. Smothered in bruleed cheese and sauteed onions. Lots of gravy. Lots of skinny green beans and a big scoop of mashed potatoes. Wow! What a meal. So good. I got my leftovers wrapped up. I took a piece of the birthday cheesecake home. It was listed on the specials menu. It looked really nice. However, it was not my favorite and actually, I would not recommend it. It's not cake, it's cheesecake, but the sprinkles just ruin the texture and flavor of the cheesecake, which wasn't a great cheesecake to begin with. Skip it. When the bill came, I was surprised the Quahog was on there. Especially because it was so ill prepared and I complained about it. But whatever. I thanked Amanda, paid, finished my cocktail and left. Parking is on the street or in the parking garage structure on the road behind them. Bathrooms are in the back along the long hallway, I didn't check them out. They have a large bar up front and what looks like a room they could do private events / meetings in. They have a new summer menu where all items are $20. I think that's a good deal. They have a lot of great sounding items on their menu and I heard the shrimp Mozambique is amazing. Maybe I'll get that next time.

The pot roast was a little dry but a still a solid choice. The inside was a lot larger than it looked from outside. The inside decor could use a refresh but the great service helped us not to notice.

The food was good. The Blueberries were very sweet; the Fajita wrap was tasty. The Cod was Lightly breaded and fried with power slaw, Pico de Gallo, and remoulade. This is a nice place for lunch or dinner with an excellent water view. It was fun sitting by the water and watching the boats! Service during the week dates are fine! We never been here on the weekend!

We've enjoyed many steak and cheese hoagies over the years, and this one left us disappointed. Overall, the service and atmosphere were the highlights of our visit. While the food wasn't a hit for us this time, the staff was pleasant and the restaurant itself is clean.

A Night to Remember at The Perfect Caper Sammy and Joe hadn't had a night out in what felt like forever. Between work, life, and their little girl, dinner dates had become a rare luxury. But tonight, as their daughter slept peacefully at Grandma's, they found themselves stepping into The Perfect Caper, ready for a well-earned evening together. From the moment they walked in, they were greeted with warmth. A kind man--who they assumed was the owner--welcomed them with a smile, quickly finding them a table despite the restaurant being packed. The atmosphere was lively yet cozy, and as they settled in, their excitement grew. Their waitress arrived, full of energy and charm, knowing the menu like the back of her hand. She rattled off the specials effortlessly, throwing in some great recommendations with a touch of humor. "You have to try the pork belly tacos," she insisted with a wink. A few other staff members even stopped by to chat, sharing their own favorites, making the whole experience feel incredibly personal. Sammy and Joe started with the sweet and spicy calamari, tender and flavorful with just the right hint of heat. Then came the pork belly tacos, rich and indulgent, the sauce and guacamole perfectly balancing each bite. They clinked their glasses, savoring the moment--just the two of them, no baby bottles or bedtime routines, just good food and even better company. For the main course, Joe ordered a 6oz filet, cooked just the way he liked it, served with crisp green beans and a side of lobster mac and cheese drizzled in buttery goodness. Dinner at Perfect Caper in Punta Gorda last evening was nothing short of extraordinary. Every element--service, food, and drinks--was executed to near perfection, providing an unparalleled dining experience. The appetizer selection was a tantalizing introduction, featuring foie gras club, salmon tartare, warm goat cheese, escargot, and focaccia. Each appetizer was a revelation in its own right; the foie gras club was so superior it eclipsed all memories of its regular counterpart. The warm goat cheese provided a melt-in-your-mouth experience while the perfectly baked focaccia was the epitome of perfection. However, it was the escargot that undeniably took center stage, delighting our taste buds with its exquisite flavors and textures. These starters were masterfully paired with a chablis wine, a thoughtful choice that elegantly underscored and complemented the diverse flavors on our plates. The mains continued this symphony of flavors with crab scallops, duck n' frites, accompanied by side dishes of lobster mac n' cheese and salmon. The crab scallops, set atop black rice and bathed in a light lemon butter sauce, danced with vibrant flavors. The duck could have been better while the salmon--according to Mohit--was unparalleled, the finest he had sampled in a significant span of time. Our beloved Chateauneuf du Pape accompanied the main courses, its robust and sophisticated profile enhancing and elevating the culinary delights it accompanied. To conclude our gastronomic journey, we indulged in desserts paired with a 40-year-old port. The chocolate bread pudding and a uniquely heart-shaped raspberry financier graced our table. The Perfect Caper is one of those restaurants that reminds you why dining out can be such a special experience. The atmosphere is elegant without feeling stuffy, and every dish seems to have a thoughtful, creative touch. We started with the Caprese salad. While the menu advertised heirloom tomatoes, ours was prepared with colorful cherry tomatoes instead. The flavors were still wonderful, and the portion was incredibly generous, featuring an entire burrata wrapped in prosciutto. The creamy burrata, salty prosciutto, and sweet tomatoes worked beautifully together, although I do think the presentation could have been a little more polished. The highlight of the evening was the Duo of Duck. It's easy to see why the duck is one of the restaurant's signature dishes. The combination of crispy confit and perfectly cooked duck breast created a rich, flavorful dish with great texture and depth. Every bite was memorable, and it was one of those entrées that makes you slow down and savor it. To finish, I ordered an espresso martini made with Baileys, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Smooth, creamy, and just indulgent enough, it delivered that wonderful combination of coffee and dessert in a glass. What I loved most about The Perfect Caper is that it feels like a restaurant where the kitchen genuinely cares about the details. Not every dish was perfect, but the creativity, quality ingredients, and overall dining experience made for a wonderful evening. I've been to The Perfect Caper for dinner about a dozen times over the last 18 months. This is a first rate restaurant. The menu is varied and interesting. On my last visit, I had the beet and avocado salad as an appetizer. I know, it sounds an unlikely combination, but it was delicious, and the presentation wonderful! The mussels and fish are always super fresh and done to perfection. And do not miss out on the bread, which they make there. The service is consistently good- during the meal, there has never been a time I wished the server would come by, and no one did, or I felt like they were hovering too close (never rushed). I like the interior as well- but I like a darkish restaurant, so be sure to bring your specs for the menu if you need them. The little bar is nice, too, friendly, low key, and the drinks are great. The only reason I did not give this restaurant 5 stars is because I've had a little inconsistency on the filet- sometimes exactly right, other times a bit overdone (I order medium rare). Update to my review from a few months ago, the owners have obviously not taken into consideration my suggestions on the "hat rule" as I was told by a friend that he was forced to remove his hat while again pointing out that 2/3rds of the staff are wearing the same style hat. Maybe this restaurant should move to Miami or New York City where it would fit in better. If you are going to have such high standards for your customers, then your staff, certainly the food, and the decor should be held to even higher standards (they are not), again in this case the management doesn't understand the area and clientele that they serve. Unfortunately for my friend, he was one of a few people I know that didn't hear my story before he went there, now he is making sure that everyone he knows hears about how imperfect the Perfect Caper really is. On a side note he had a large party as I did the night I was insulted there, they to left and went to the Celtic Ray down the street and had a great time. read more

The BEST restaurant in Charlotte County! Chef Jeanie Roland has been a James Beard Award semi finalist for best chef in the southern US. Food is beautifully prepared, uses quality ingredients, lots of organic products, innovative use of ingredients. Great bar. Good wine list. Generally really good service, can get a bit long when busy. The Caper can be pricey, but they have a great, seasonal Prix Fixe menu, 3 courses for $20. Fabulous value. Live music 3 nights/wk. This is a wonderful restaurant for a special occasion or just because you're hungry. Can come dressy or casual. read more

How do you leave a review of a restaurant, Perfect Caper, who can tell you to leave and NEVER return, after you have been with friends for dinner? We just got home from the Caper at 10:00 pm Friday, April 11 and are shocked that we are not welcome there, EVER!!!! Gabriel, the manager, was told to tell my husband that we should never return to Jeannie's restaurant. TOO BAD, gonna tell everyone we know in PGI and around about our experience. Last night was the third time we have been to the Perfect Caper.....We chose this restaurant for our 35th Anniversary because the food is awesome....The wait staff is excellent. Last night we had Noelle....We have had the salmon, fried chicken,Tempura shrimp and last night I had the Sea Bass special and my husband had the duck.....Unbelievable.... It was $30, very filling, and delicious. My mom had a Cuban. She took half home. Her special cocktail was excellent and so were the homemade chips. You can't eat the view and ambience. It was super relaxing. Our waitress was extremely friendly. It was a little bit of a walk to get there.

We were taking my friend with out of town guest to Village Brewhouse for the first time. It was in…read morethe 90s and with a wheel chair and a cane we were so much exhausted getting to middle of fisherman's village. We asked for indoors to get my 89 year old friend and 3 other seniors out of the heat. We stood inside a bit No where to rest to get seated. They finally took us to a table. We were exhausted and hot. Waited 20 minutes no one came to our table to offer us drinks and welcome us. So one of us went to find someone. The manager came and took our drink orders mostly water on ice and had to wait on that . Manager also took our orders but was 50 minutes to get our food. We got lots of appetizers and meals and had to ask for utensils to eat . Our waiter didn't check with us. And we kinda took care of ourselves then had to run someone down to get our bill.. Only thing good was they sang to my 89 year old friend for her birthday.. we were by the door so it didn't cool off much . Mostly younger people that seam to be having a good time. . We even had to ask for utensils after the food came and they were walking away. After the meal we had to chase down our bill cause not much attention to our table. . We were sitting by a hot open door with lots of traffic and a wheelchair. If this in non season I would hate to come in season.

The atmosphere was your typical Florida bar restaurant theme, it's what one would expect. We ordered wings, big strawberry salad, loaded fried cauliflower, grouper, and a chicken breast sandwich minus the bread. The chicken was tender and good, the wings were not the best but ok, the cauliflower app was all around tasty and worth it, and the fish was pretty decent for a brewhouse. Overall for this type of restaurant I think the food was good. Compared to other restaurants I've been to that are similar to this it's decent quality.
