Had a reservation and requested a table, not a booth. This was confirmed on 2 separate phone calls. Arrived and was rudely told they were full and we would have to wait 45 minutes or more. They said they could seat us sooner if we wanted a booth. We had 5 people in the party and one gentleman cannot sit in a booth. I reminded them that we requested a table and the manager became very rude telling me that request was not made and he walked away abruptly. Needless to say we left. I have brought dozens of people there for the first time but never again. They could have handled it much better and professionally. We're done!! read more

We go every year for Thanksgiving as it is just the 2 of us. They have a full menu as well as a traditional Turkey Dinner. The Turkey dinner with stuffing, sweet potatoes, and green beans was outstanding as usual. BUT, what made it EXTRA special was our server named Mason. so warm and friendly. Prompt and courteous. The restaurant was very busy. But Mason kept us informed and always checking on us. I've been in the service industry so I know what it is like. This was a great experience. We met another couple here as this was a half way point. The food was really delicious. Goat cheese appetizer was great and had some good spreads to go with the bread. Cocktails were also tasty and arrived quickly. My wife's scallops were very good and I really enjoyed my duck. Our friends had the pork chop and black grouper special. It was my dates birthday and we decided to visit The Perfect Caper where we first ate some time ago. We were greeted with a warm smile and our server was so attentive and friendly. I had the crappy scallops and oh my gosh!!! It was beyond fantastic. My date had the fillet. Done perfectly and seasoned With just the correct amount of spices. Eat here if you want good food this is a published exceptional chef establishment and the food is very fine and well prepared. There are two main seating areas. For a cozy lunch you can sit in the bar area where they have a couple tables. Or the main dining room that has booths and tables tastefully decorated. On the menu there salt and pepper calamari, the pasta dishes and the interesting treatments of pork beef chicken make for a wide choice but all things you would love to eat. You don't have to look at the menu very long before you have over five things you would love to have and you have to narrow that down and we like that kind of choice. There is A very nice wine list and most liquor is available. The service has always been very pleasant and unobtrusive. Also the atmosphere is generally very mellow and no devices like TVs and loud music so it does make for a very relaxing experience. We like this for special occasions we like this one while we're driving from Fort Myers to Tampa this is a great halfway stop for lunch! After lunch you could take a stroll in the heritage park or go to fisherman's wharf and shop your heart out so this is a very nice destination for daytrippers! They have got our attention right from day one and we have never been let down. A very large parking lot and the entrance seems very accessible to most anyone no stairs or steps. You can glimpse at the kitchen through a window and you will be reassured by the delicious magic going on a well run kitchen. I am so trustful of their cleanliness protocols and I never see any debris or mess everything is perfect well that's why they called at the perfect caper probably! We've been loyal patrons of the (not so Perfect) Caper since they originally opened and WE Will NEVER GO BACK. The owners no longer live in Punta Gorda and they have been letting the service, food and portions go to CRAP since they left. We've given them countless chances over the past several years in hopes that it would return to the fantastic restaurant it once was. It's sad. The menu never changes, the portions/quality go down and the prices go up. Thankfully Punta Gorda has a number of better restaurants to frequent in place of this high priced piece of crap. read more

My first time eating in the restaurant (visited the bar previously a few times) and hands down it's the very best restaurant in Punta Gorda to-date. It had everything we were looking for. The four of us arrived early so we started off in the bar with happy hour drinks. Loved the $5.00 cab. We soon moved into the dining room but we were not rushed. My friend ordered the Duck A Deux Facons at $33. She's been here before and this is all she ever orders. I suppose once you find something that works well, why change? My other had the buttermilk fried Momma's Chicken at $33 and I stole a bite. Oh my! Crispy on the outside and succulent juicy on the inside. I ended up having more than a bite. I ordered the delicious Pappardelle & Mushroom pasta. I can't imagine a more perfect pasta and at only $24. I shared with everyone and they loved it too. We had a lovely table off to the side and you could tell patrons were really enjoying themselves because it was quite loud. Loud, delicious, and fun. This place does not disappoint!!! Expensive but well worth the money. We started out with PEI mussels. The appetizer was large and delicious. I had the crabby scallops-very good. They are served on a bed of "black forbidden " rice. Not my favorite but I appreciated the theme-Asian. There was a serving of bok Choy with this entree. My husband and I split a chopped salad -yummy. He had steak and was not disappointed. I am sorry I don't remember our server's name but she sensed that we did not want to be rushed and actually asked for permission to orchestrate the arrival of our food. Went to Perfect Caper on May12 th with my Husband. I had the Grouper and my husband had the scallops. Grouper was fantastic and the scallops were incredible according to my husband. Dinner was perfect the wine was good and we topped our wonderful meals with dessert. We both had the Creme Burlee. It was awesome we didn't really need it but we don't get it often and it was so good. Our sever was also good and attentive. Great night and can't wait to go back! My 4th time eating at Perfect Caper, and this time Chef/Owner Jeanie Roland was in the house. She stopped by our table, sat down, spoke with us and even signed her book for me. She was very personable and easygoing. This time, for a starter, I tried her Thai Curry Mussels, which she once beat Bobby Flay with. It was a great dish with plump Mussels and the sauce at the bottom was awesome. It came with duck-fat Frites with three different dipping sauces - a house-made Ketchup, roasted pepper aioli (I believe) and a garlic aioli. For my entree, I stuck by the Moroccan-Spiced Lamb Rack, which I usually order. The quality of Lamb used in this dish is wonderful. The Perfect Caper never disappoints and meeting Chef Jeanie Roland this time made the night even more memorable! read more

The menu is dated and boring, as is the atmosphere. the hostess informs people of the time they need to leave by...which was unbelievable to me. its their job to time the meal appropriately so one table is finished before they make the next reservation, and it's rude to inform a table there for a celebration, before the meal has even started, they they have an end time. you make the choice to do that, Perfect Caper, and now my choice is to never return. read more

The only restaurant I have EVER eaten at where I was told the chef would not butterfly my steak to be well done. Not even the top steakhouses in Chicago have ever done that to me. We went in August while visiting our condo and had another less than stellar experience. Their goat cheese plate is amazing and I would honestly get that as a meal. Their table bread is very good as well. I did not enjoy my steak and neither did my friend. My mom did like her scallops but the black rice it came with had a strange texture. The happy hour menu is a good deal but limited. They need more servers, we saw our busboy more than we saw our waitress. I know fine dining choices in this area are limited but I think there's a lot they can work on. Also, we reserved through OpenTable and when we got there the hostess argued with us about the time and number of people. Your restaurant was half empty anyway, who cares? We stayed the night in Punta Gorda before our flight out early Tuesday morning and when looking for a walkable restaurant we discovered The Perfect Caper. It's an easy 4 min walk from Marriotts Springhill Suites. We are both vegan and after looking over the menu saw few options, however when we asked our waitress for suggestions she happily told us the chef has a special vegan dish he prepares. It was excellent, in presentation, and taste. The coconut curry sauce was a perfect addition. The rice and mushroom dish was accented with asparagus, bok choy and French green beans. The restaurant is on the back side of the building so you need to pull into the parking lot. We looked for it briefly when we were in Punta Gorda previously and unfortunately didn't find it. EXCELLENT LUNCH We were in Punta Gorda the other day and decided to give this restaurant a try based on the very good reviews it had. It is, indeed, a great place. My wife had the Tenderloin Tacos, and they were served with a beautiful piece of tenderloin - I mean a nice chunk over 1 inch high and about 2 inches in diameter. Nice. I had a superb Bean Soup and a 1/2 Chicken Salad Sandwich. Delicious. Any downers? Well, the decor is a bit tired and retro. It clearly needs some perking up.
