I have been going to perfect start for so long, it's ridiculous that they don't know how to make their drinks or food. Hot coffees, cold coffees. Frappes. Mochas. Iced drinks. They never do it right. When I ask for a mocha frappe and they give me an overpriced noncaffeinated drink, it's so overwhelming. When I ask for a red bull smoothie and I get a smoothie with no red bull, again, so overwhelming, because it's so expensive. I ordered a hot sandwich and it was cold in the middle, like dude?? You literally have a microwave right there and you don't even finish the job. I try and try again, "maybe theyre having an off day," or "maybe it's a new barista". I have consistently been going to the newer knik location of The Perfect Start these last few days and they have exceeded my expectations each time I've ordered their coffee. It's always been delicious and very flavorful (iced coffees mainly) I will definitely continue going here! Service on point as well. read more

I stopped by here early this afternoon for a pick me up while driving through the area. We had no logic in picking The Perfect Start other than it was alongside the road we were headed down. Since this was a drive thru coffee shop there isn't much to say about it. It had two windows with a single employee working the shop and she quickly and efficiently got my coffee out to me. As per my normal order I went with a large Americano for my coffee drink. The coffee here was one of the better coffees that I had while in Alaska. It had a strong and rich flavor that was quite good. As a matter of a fact my wife kept stealing sips from it. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. We got our coffee and were on our way quite quickly and the coffee was good as well. read more

I live in Anchorage and the drive to this place was a good 40 minutes almost an hour if you count traffic. I have recently seen a post about this place and I was fascinated by all the colors in the smoothie. Little did I know this smoothie had Red Bull in it and I must say Red Bull never tasted so good. The staff was very inviting and they tell you that they have and could make any flavor you could possibly imagine. By now I've tried to think up a flavor that they couldn't make but I failed. It was so good I went a second time. The second time I went I tried their fitbox! I chose the steak fit box and I felt they needed to work on their seasoning. I loved the seasoning on the steak but felt otherwise when I had the yam and it was a little on the salty side. All in all the smoothie was worth the drive for anyone who is into drinks with colors- the real unicorn smoothie is right here!! Look no further. read more

It has been 3 years but I still vividly remember waking up in the morning and walking out of our hotel room on a chilly morning to this place. A small kiosk in the middle of an open space on the roadside, there is nothing fancy about this place. The lady inside greeted me as I arrived and I got a double espresso and a lemon cookie. I am really disappointed that there is no consistency with pricing. Staff at one location will charge me 4.25 and another 4.50 it's really a royal pain and I will probably discontinue my patronage of there locations due to this constant inconsistency. read more

They have food! I wish more coffee shacks had a food menu but this place is amazing. I usually always get a rainbow smoothie. My choices are typically cherry, grape, lemon, and desert pear. Don't stop there though. Please don't be a creature of habit like I am and check out their menu. They can probably make any type of caffinated drink you desire.
