Entering/exiting to park here is SKETCHY. You will be crossing over the drive-through, so use caution! I went inside. It was sparse but homey. Baristas were really friendly. I got a drip coffee and it was A-OK, the focus here really seems to be on espresso-style drinks. I'd recommend getting an Americano instead of drip. read more

Easy location to reach. A prime location for those headed toward Anchorage and needing, probably, the last coffee spot before Peter's Creek/Birchwood/Eagle River. Friendly baristas. Fast. We used the drive thru. When we arrived there were three cars in front of us. We were up to the window in under two minutes. They made my order exactly as asked. EXACTLY! I asked for JUST A SPLASH of cream with my espresso shots and that's exactly what they did. (Most places grossly over splash). We ordered two drinks, espresso and an Americano. Service was prompt and attentive, even though the drive-through window had about 10x the traffic of us few unrushed inhabitants of the room. Every cup of coffee comes with a large sunflower sticker featuring the words, "Keely's Coffee House. Located in the strip mall across from Walmart." Which really has to be about the most effective, accurate, and helpful use of the few words a business has for a slogan anywhere. Options for moderate to unabashedly excessive caffeination abound. We went with a bullet proof coffee and a Ghirardelli Azteca mocha. Both were great. Plus a breakfast burrito and instant oatmeal, which if not competing for awards in culinary innovation certainly hit the spot on a rainy morning. Lightning fast wifi. First know drive thru is only option. While standing in the drive thru I was forced to listen to childish employee chatter about a person who doesn't manage their money while one employee was on her phone. Mind you 3 cars behind me in line. I ordered a 12 oz latte and croissant egg and ham sandwich. No one washed their hands, both girls have long hair that fell forward into drink making areas and was touched frequently. As I was leaving the phone girl decided to dump some coffee grounds out of the portafilter. Sandwich was soggy soft, over heated, not a flaky croissant. This coffee shop is a convenient middle-ground for me to meet my friends that live in Wasilla. I meet my girlfriends here every now and then to chat and catch up and have a great coffee. The staff is very friendly and competent. They make great coffees and smoothies (I'm sure they have more to offer, but I've only had the coffees and smoothies). The atmosphere is relaxed, and they won't bat an eyelash if you come in and park it, enjoy your coffee, and continue hanging out. They even have a nice selection of board games if you want to stay longer. There is a drive-up window for those that don't want to go inside - which I think is a MUST for a coffee shop in Alaska. We have lived near this cafe for about two years but it always seems to be driven past. Finally stopped in today for a quick lunch. I got a strawberry banana smoothie, it was a little on the sugary side. I didn't watch them make it, so I am guessing it is made with syrup versus actual fruit but I honestly didn't ask. I also got the avocado melt to go. They wrapped each half separately which was nice. The sandwich was a little greasy but I think it had more to do with the amount of sauce. This particular sandwich basically fell apart as I was eating it but it was very tasty! Would definitely recommend but grab a fork to eat everything that falls out!! I think next time I would ask for light aioli or maybe on the side, but otherwise was excellent! It was quiet atmosphere, with oversized chairs and couches and a few tables. Definitely would be a great place to read or work without too much distraction. read more

My first AK review after living here 3 weeks. The service was friendly , they seem to know their product, and my cappuccino was excellent.

These ladies are awesome!! They were a breath of fresh air with smiles and bubbly personalities. They were totally happy to accommodate my dietary issues which I was so grateful for. I got a no sugar added smoothie, two eggs (no bread to make it gf) and a delicious coffee with almond milk. They were plenty busy but never made me feel rushed or like I was being a pain. I often feel guilty for having so many dietary issues and asking lots of questions before I order and these two were totally happy to make me happy. I so appreciate that. Do you like country music? It's all country all the time on the radio at the Espresso Café. Other than that, the coffee was great, I had a red eye, folks in Alaska call it a sludge. My breakfast sandwich was good, the food isn't where they are making their name and the sandwich was just good. The service was wonderful, the girls are happy to help and make sure your visit begins and ends with a smile. The owners are so sweet! and this is one of the only places where the baristas are consistently cheerful and give fast service. I love the set-up, but the drive-thru is weird and i feel like i'm going to wreck my car pulling up because it's kind of in a silly spot. There's a huge ol' crack in the middle of it. I met my business partner here for a meeting and had the hot apple cider. It was sooooo yummy! Perfect for this chilly fall weather. I also had The Bomb sandwich (apples, cheese, bacon, yumminess). It was really the bomb it was so good! They were out of the normal cheddar they use for the sandwich and the young lady who made mine came out and suggested other cheeses. I'm glad she did because I tried something new and it worked! I ended up bringing my husband home the turkey club (avocado and pesto). I ate half his sandwich, I couldn't help myself! I only gave them 4 stars because when I went back the next day I got a strawberry banana smoothie and it needs some work :/ However the one bad drink won't stop me from going back for more!! Everytime I walk in I am in LOVE with their decor. It is so gorgeous inside. Not to mention they always have the best coffee and food around. The baristas are always super friendly and I often hear them call customers by their first name. Unfortunately I don't come in often enough for them to remember me, but regardless they are always polite to me. Coffee is great. I had a cream mint mocha because they were out of peppermint flavoring. Atmosphere is comfortable. I liked the music they had on. The furniture is comfortable. One large couch, two large soft leather chairs, and about 4 tables. Not a large area to sit but very nice. read more
