Yes, they do not left people come in and browse the store, due to being immunocompromised from cancer treatments. Be compassionate, empathetic, and understand that they have found a way to keep their business running safely for their health. That is their decision, not yours. They are always incredibly helpful. Ask them at the window for what you are looking for, ask them for help, and they will gladly do everything for you. They made some amazing fish suggestions for issues I was having inside of one of my tanks, instead of using chemicals, and it worked. I loved the fish so much that I went and bought more of them. It changed my entire stocking than what i originally wanted, and I couldn't be happier. People, don't be a stick in the mud. Ask for things and people will help you. Don't diss a business because of their concerns for their well-being. Don't be afraid to have a conversation with people (you know that lost art ever since the smart phone was invented). I would not trust any other place in town for my fish needs. Not after seeing how meticulously well they keep their fish tanks (because the water in the bags of fish I get is crystal clear and I haven't had ANY diseases or issues with all of my fish). They also have a wonderful variety of freshwater plants and fish. I have had a lot of difficulty finding many species that I've been wanting to stock my tank with, especially plants, and wanted to give this place a shot! The owners were very helpful, and explained to me the situation involving being let into the building stating they are both immunocompromised, so I understand where they are coming from. It doesn't hurt to call to let them know you'd like to stop in, next time I will wear a mask! Despite a lot of reviews about smell and uncleanliness (from circa over 5 years ago), I did not see or smell any such issue, and I am a bit of a clean freak in terms of smells associated with pets.

My dog immediately choked up kibble, and within about 30 minutes of getting him back to my hotel, I had to request input from my vet back home and immediately take him to the ER Vet where he had to spend the next almost two days. He had aspiration pneumonia. They of course denied the entire thing and when I went in to view the camera footage they had, they had a clip of the footage that was about 1:30 seconds long that had been cut to not show me going over to my dog where he has choked kibble up. I called immediately when I got to the hotel room, as I didn't want to react immediately due to the emotion involved. They of course have denied everything. I've stayed quiet about this incident for almost a year now because I honestly thought maybe they'd own up to their (maybe) mistake and do what was right and help cover what I had to pay for. I am active duty military and have to travel to Lexington frequently for clinical. I trusted this business with my furchildren and they failed. I just truly hope that next time this happens, the outcome isn't different. Had I waited until the next day to take my pup to the vet, he most likely would not have survived. Within hours he was on oxygen at the ER vet. I've been dealing with their insurance company since January and they will not be covering anything. This is honestly, the outcome that I expected, as both Uptown Hounds and The Hanover Group did not display much professionalism. The worst part is, they won't even refund me the amount of services that I paid for and will never receive for my dogs. I truly hope no one else has to deal with this situation.
