If you have a large breed dog, avoid at all costs. The vet will quickly label your dog aggressive if they are and I quote "German Shepards, Pitbulls, Rottweiler, Labrador Retreives are protective aggressive breeds that will maul your face off ." God forbid your dog bark, the vet will instantly clam up and become terrified while faulting you and saying your dog is dangerously under trained. Not something you would expect from a place that literally is meant to treat dogs. Be prepared to be scolded about your choice of dog breed though you're paying for a service. Honestly, don't walk, RUN the opposite way. Any vet that labels a "breed" aggressive clearly hasn't no business in the industry. Any animal or person can be aggressive if you push the right buttons. ***EDIT: Obviously, based on the above it is clearly to be concluded that I had no intention of bringing my dog back here. It's been two years and I'm still thinking about how terrible this place was. Inaccurately claimed my cat had a heart murmur after a 3 min check-up. Ended up costing me $300 in tests. We found this vet clinic via yelp. It had good reviews and close to home. We come here for Lenny's first check up and follow up vaccines. The staff, technicians, and Dr. Buckley are very friendly. For our visit, we usually wait in a room and talk to the nurse/technician first for notes. Dr. Buckley will then come in for exams, procedures, and questions. She is very patient and friendly despite how busy she is. She is also very helpful with replying emails when Lenny had some health problems in between visits. The clinic is very clean and spacious. And they offer you coffee or soda and offer treats to your puppy. read more

I had been going to another vet for almost 30 years, but they had really changed . Plus, it was almost two months out before I could get an appt. for my new kitten. A neighbor raved about Dr. B and the new office on Friend Street, so I made an appt. (which was much sooner than the other place) We were greeted like royalty with a little welcome chalkboard with my cat's name on it. All the vet techs are enthusiastic animal lovers that made a fuss over Shaggy. We were brought into a sparkling clean exam room that had toys for Shags to play with while waited. Mind you-at the other place- we weren't even allowed into the facility with our pets. We had to drop them off at the door and either wait outside or come back in 15 minutes. Very stressful for the pet and owner. Dr. B came in and immediately got on the floor to play with Shags and give him a look over. I have never seen a vet go out of their way to make a pet feel comfortable in all my life. For now, because of Covid, they do take your pet to another area to do the exam, but bring them back immediately after it is done so your pet isn't stressed. Dr. B and the staff are reachable by email and respond quickly. They always ask about your pet by name and make you feel like you're their only client! You also get cute photos of your pet next to a chalkboard on their first and "graduation" (all first rounds of shots finished) visits. The difference between here and the other place is like night and day. The energy, enthusiasm and warmth of this office is how pet care should be. read more

I am not entirely sure why we wasted our time and money here. First off, this place runs like a mill (pump and dump with appointments). My 3 year old dog deals with anxiety with new places and people. This is bad owner on my part but I could not believe my dog would anxiety poop and pee for every Pet's Vet visit she came to. She has NEVER done that before. At her last vet clinic, she LOVED her vet. Would always leave a happy dog. Her anxiety pooping and peeing at this clinic should have been a warning sign for me and I'm still hitting myself over not pulling her out faster. I just resorted to thinking she still needs to get used to Boston. The vet techs are not personable and I didn't really care for her main vet either (Asian lady who does not speak English well). They all were so quick to slap on medication as the answer to her anxiety, instead of taking the time to gain her trust. There was one vet tech who even looked annoyed with my dog for pooping/peeing and tried to convince me again to medicate her with Trazadone. But like I said, this place runs like a mill and they don't have time to form bonds and gain trust with high anxiety pets. This should have been a red flag. They changed their policy around so now you only get 20 min per visit and a 60 late fee if your greater than 5 min late. Let's also not forget they don't offer parking so you are paying at least 20 dollars out of pocket. I also was getting fed up with getting charged close to 300-500 dollars for ONE vet visit and no answers to problems were achieved. This clinic also is so quick to jump to the most expensive option to figure out what's going on with your dog without talking about OR exploring less expensive/conservative options. We are still relatively new to the area and I finally found a clinic in Charlestown (Hood Park) that stated all their vet techs and vets are trained to deal with high anxiety pets. Let me tell you, BEST DECISION I have ever made to transfer. I was blown away by their training and service. They allocate more than 20 minutes with each dog. The first vet tech spent a good 20 minutes on the floor with treats and toys trying to gain my dogs trust. It was SUCCESSFUL in calming her down. Then when the vet came in, she got amped up again. Instead or taking her outside and completing the visit (like Pet's Vet did) the Vet was SO patient and wanted my dog to see I trust him, so she should also. He worked with her with treats and toys. He was very well trained in deescalating her anxiety with other techniques. The whole exam was completed with me right there. And he laughed and disagreed with Pet's Vet suggestion to give my dog Trazadone (....FINALLY). Essentially, no anxiety pooping and peeing, just how I remembered her to be. And she left a HAPPY dog. The vet also encouraged us to do happy visits where we bring my dog in just for a treat. Lastly....let's talk about the AMAZING and REASONABLE pricing here. The whole visit cost me less than 150. So everyone should know, all of Boston does not charge insanely elevated prices for garbage treatment in return. The clinic also does not try to push expensive recommendations on you. They use that as last resort if all other conservative treatments fail. So reasonable prices and GREAT care for your pets is possible. PS. The vet laughed at The Pet's Vet recommendation to take my dog to a canine dermatologist when her problem was fixed with the recommendations he gave. And guess what? No specialist was needed. Also, I love the construction of our new vet's clinic. All exam rooms are clear doors. AMAZING decision for reactive/anxiety ridden dogs. My dog was less reactive as she was able to see all animals and people walking by and entering the door. Don't waste your time here. I wish I switched clinics a lot sooner. read more

I recently moved from NYC with my 4 y/o Boston Terrier, Fiona. She tweaked her back, but because of the move, I didn't have a routine vet quite yet. I called this clinic and was seen within a couple hours. I'm high drama at baseline, so I was extremely worried, but the vet, Sara, completely calmed my nerves and took exceptional care of Fiona. Truly the best vet we could have ever imagined finding being new dog owners! Dr Buckley is a gem of a vet in the middle of the city. Such a convenient location and never a wait at all. The staff are fantastic and friendly and make you feel great. They have a great online presence as well so using their website or staying up to date on their Instagram page is very helpful. When our dog was very sick they treated us with great care and checked in every day until they knew he was feeling better. It's great that we have to go less often now that our dog is fully vaccinated and much healthier- but we really miss going to see everyone! Boorito has been a patient of DrB for over a year and and a half and she has pranced her way to The Pet's Vet with cute excitement. Trust me, I have never had a dog that was SO HAPPY going to the vet, and I know it's because Boorito has always had such positive experiences with the technicians and Dr.B and everyone at the vet. Dr.B went above and beyond when Boorito got herself into trouble at the end of the year in 2021. You can tell her and her team absolutely adore animals and want to make sure they're well taken care of. Both Boo and I have always felt extremely welcomed and cared for when at the Vet. And believe me, Boo has gone here often enough for her vaccines, for her skin issues, her spay, and also for an ultrasound that finally showed she had a foreign object in her tummy. Even when all these wide variety of situations may have caused her to not want to go anymore, she continued to be excited to see DrB and her team. It is now with extreme sadness that we've had to say goodbye to DrB and her team since we moved to Orlando Florida. If I could have taken the pet's vet with me, I would have. I know they've set the bar really high for the next vet and I hope we're lucky enough to find one that is even half of what we experienced at The Pet's Vet North End. I brought my new puppy Chompers here for an exam and it was great! Dr. Buckley spent a long time answering all our questions and was great at explaining everything in detail. I didn't feel like I was being oversold on anything, she went through the pros and cons of everything such as elective vaccinations, timing of neutering, letting your puppy go outside before being fully vaccinated, socialization etc. The whole staff was very professional and treated baby Chompers like a king! Unfortunately, the service in this place has declined greatly. It breaks my heart that we need to change to a different vet. Especially, since we were among some of the first patients of this new clinic, I spoke with them on the phone they told me I can come over. When we got there, we noticed my pup is due for a vaccine too. They were expecting us to wait there after our arrival for about ~2 hours. The communication was dismissive and unwelcoming at best. The service we needed: 1- Is the vaccine due? If yes, proceed to #2. 2- Administer the vaccine. Both of these steps can be done by ANY technician, not even a vet is necessary. Setup: They have seen my pup from her 8 weeks old. They have ALL her records. Lesson: They do not care about the "retention" of their patients. I stayed with them even after moving about 35 minutes away to have my pup stay with the same vet. Unfortunately, the dismissiveness and nonchalance hurt us enough to leave. If the human connection and care are important to you and your pup, I would suggest other places. If it is not a high priority, I am sure the care is adequate and you will be supporting a woman-owned business. We had a much better experience later that afternoon with all her vaccinations and preventative care at our new local vet just a block away. read more

Our Husky Mina broke her tooth (a big one) and ended up with an abscess. She needed a surgical extraction ASAP along with a dental cleaning. Dr. Buckley and her staff were amazing. They were incredibly patient with Mina and with my questions. The night after surgery Mina was a bit agitated and went counter surfing.
