A lot of parking. Waitress was very nice and came by to fill our water and ask us how our food was. The wings were cooked very well-crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The beet and kale salad was incredible with the toasted hazelnuts, grilled kale, goat cheese, roasted beets. Very good portion. Delicious and highly recommend. Wasn't highly impressed with my entree. Were have read a number of recommendations for The Phoenix. Thanks to the car's GPS we were able to find the restaurant and the parking lot. We were seated immediately and given menus. I have forgotten the name of our waitress; but, she was the kind of waitress that I want to serve me at every restaurant. She was appropriately friendly, professional with a nice sense of humor. I ordered Fried Chicken Sandwich with fries and my wife ordered The Phoenix Hamburger with fries. This just might be the best Fried Chicken Sandwich that I have enjoyed. Next time I am going to order it with Buffalo Sauce. The fries passed the Good-When-Cold Test so well that I asked our waitress to take them away to keep me from eating all of them. Nice open restaurant. We have been here twice with large family gatherings & both times put in the large back room for family tables. We had brunch here and dinner here. The groups were satisfied with their food but nothing remarkable to note. We've tried- salads, french onion soup, burgers and fries, fish n chips, chicken n waffles, chicken wings, meatloaf, Pomodoro pasta, and the most notable dish was the Chicken Marsala. The chicken Marsala was excellent. Great sauce, whipped potato and chicken. I've only gone here twice and both times were great! I don't know why I don't go often enough because they have an amazing happy hour and great food/drinks. The first time I went was for happy hour. I had a margarita and calamari. The second time was for a birthday party in the rented room. I had a mimosa and their sirloin steak. The steak was only okay but everything else was wonderful. I will start with the positive. It was near our hotel. We opted todo takeout and the ordering was seamless although she had to ask the chef several times "if it was ok" for me to order the prime rib special. This comes with baked potato and veggies. The veggies were good. Now the bad, I have never in my life paid $104 for two prime rib with a loaded baked potato and veggies. Wow, ok maybe it is a large cut, nope, average, the au jus tasted like beef broth. Where was the seasoning? There was no seasoning in the thing- if it wasn't for the horseradish. The Phoenix was recommended as a good place for a steak that won't hurt your wallet (much). And it offers quite a lot of options for those who don't eat meat. We had a table for three reserved for 6 on a weeknight and while we were seated almost immediately, the restaurant was quite busy. - Blackened NY steak: Nicely blackened, not 'melt in your mouth' but very good. It's not a huge cut. Maybe Blacksmith, Brickhouse, Bos Taurus or Kayo's might offer a marginally better steak but they also charge more. - Salmon piccata: excellent rendition of salmon. - 'Chefs' vegetable side: a bit disappointing, actually. Green beans needed a little further cooking and the carrots & broccoli were bland. Needs seasoning and maybe another choice of vegetables. I think the chef phoned this one in. - Baked potato: perfectly cooked. Love the all-booth seating in the dining room. A bit loud in the restaurant. Music is unnecessary. Great service. Tap list is pretty extensive for a restaurant. I like that they have details on each beer on the back of the menu. Speaking of, why do restaurants only give a table of three one drink menu? We went in here around 6:30 on a Sunday and sat in the lounge so we could watch football. We were surprised to see the generous Sunday happy hour with menu items a few bucks off and a few added items not on the regular menu. I enjoyed the beer battered halibut. It was 3 nice pieces that tasted good and weren't soggy or too greasy, they came with some shoestring fries and some lightly dressed coleslaw. My wife had the blackened halibut tacos. She really enjoyed it. It was a small serving of fish (but only $13). The best part of the evening was watching the staff deal with some drunk guy at the bar. He told the bartender that he didn't believe that he played football in high school. He kept dangerously leaning back in his stool on just two legs. The staff kept telling him he needed to stop. At one point I heard the bartender politely tell him that he was no longer enjoying their conversation. It was great entertainment. read more

A group of four of us came on a Saturday and sat I. The bar. We ordered the Buffalo Wings, Taco Salad and the Chicken Piccata. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Each of us ordered a Long Island and although they weren't super tasty, they were strong and worth the purchase. We had eaten all over Bend and this was the best food experience this far. We have been eating here for years now and the food is always delicious and the service is great for a NW restaurant. The french onion soup here is amazing and not to be overlooked. We have tried many dishes over the years and they seem to consistently do a great job. The chicken piccata is probably my favorite dish here. The pizza is very good as well as so many of their other menu items. The only thing I would change is the 3 piece fish and chips; I would love it if they put like a 5 piece option on the menu. I would gladly pay more to get more if their amazing fish. This place is often pretty busy so I would recommend getting reservations. read more

The food here isn't bad. They have good happy hour type foods. Drinks are always fine and it's usually not terribly loud which is nice because two of our friends are hearing impaired. 1 star because of the obnoxious waitress that seems to be there every time we go. Hispanic lady with a smart mouth that thinks she's witty. We go here fairly regularly and enjoy the food and atmosphere but would love to go without the sarcasm, banter and low brow insults . What's happening at THE PHOENIX Restaurant? Is the pandemic affecting their business too!? For the past 3 years, it had been a go to restaurant for me. Last night we ordered FISH & CHIPS and the Phoenix Salad and 2 sides of Coleslaw. Picked Halibut as the fish instead of Cod, and got 3 skinny pieces of fish, fries n a scoop of coleslaw for $21. The coleslaw smelled sour n tasted a bit weird, so didn't eat much and threw out the rest. PHOENIX salad, which is usually very fresh, looked like it was sitting out for a few hours. The portions which are usually enough, was meager. Price of this meal.....$40 including tip. I realize this pandemic is making it difficult for all businesses to secure quality help, but if prices are increased to get quality help, I would be willing to pay the increase, but not if the food quality suffers. I'm sad for this restaurant. Hope they can bounce back so I can continue to support them. I'm not so sure this is going to happen. Hope I'm wrong. read more

I love this restaurant. I have lived in Bend 20 years and this is the best restaurant in the area! For starters they still allow reservations which for young families is amazing. Their menu is so diverse you can please everyone, and I have NEVER had one thing at this restaurant that wasn't delicious. The portions are more than fair, especially for the price and the service is excellent! The restaurant itself is clean, spacious and offers a pleasant ambiance. First time eating out in Bend. Went for the solid four-star rating and was excited to visit. For the five years I have been following the keto diet I have had no problem finding a good keto meal practically anywhere. I explained my preferences to my server, and picked the burger -- which starts out at $13. I of course did not need the bun, or the fries on the side, and they could not substitute anything else to round out my meal. An extra salad would have been an extra $3.50. So I had a fine-tasting "seven-ounce" burger, done to my request which was medium rare, with a scant few onion slices, some sad thin tomato slices, a few small pieces of somewhat fresh lettuce, the pickles were useless because they were sweet & sour -- which we had already discussed, no sugar for me; a tiny amount of bleu cheese sprinkles -- which I paid an extra $1 for, a small chunk of avocado, which added another $1.50, and two decent slices of bacon, at an extra $2.00. This burger was $17.50. I decided to tip $3.50, so my bill was $21.00. Everything was tasty, so I gave two stars for tasty. The restaurant interior was lovely. Service was good. But really? THIS was a twenty-one-dollar meal? Seriously??!!! Also, this is my "OMAD," my one meal a day meal. My twenty-one-dollar one meal for the day. I will not be going back. I will find a little hole-in-the-wall burger place somewhere that actually serves an actual MEAL for $21.00 when I order a meal. Sheesh. read more

Our first time there we sat in the bar and had amazing halibut and shrimp tacos. So good and a great vibe. Last night we were excited to go back and made reservations for the dining room. The bar is much better if you want to talk, it was so noisy. We ordered the salmon in an Asian sauce. It was swimming in it and I had to trade with my husband as the sauce was loaded with sugar. When I moved to Bend five years ago, I did not know of any restaurants in Bend. The Phoenix was near me and my dishes, pots and pans were still in boxes. I went into the Phoenix not knowing the restaurant. The hostess greeted me and made feel very welcome.. The service was great and the food was wonderful. I am so glad I did.
