We went to Picklemall yesterday (on a Thursday evening) and it was packed! I am sure the rainy weather had something to do with it, but I guess we are not the only ones obsessed with playing... In fact, the "open play" that we thought we'd be able to jump into was all booked up for the evening. Luckily, one friend had a court reserved, and another one randomly appeared with another court reserved as well... So, we all got to play and get a little exercise! While there, I was introduced to some of the Picklemall staff including Chance, Hector, and Zach. I created accounts for the entire family and learned about all kinds of programming that Picklemall offers. I was quite impressed to learn that members and non-members are both welcome to participate in on-site events and programming including tournaments, clinics, social events and more. It sounds like there are options for players of all skill levels too. I've since learned that if you use the Picklemall app, you can easily get access to your gameplay footage, which sounds super cool... We are already planning on returning soon. See you there!

Ben Seeger is an amazing instructor! He is prompt and introduces himself. He explains and…read moredemonstrates as he's teaching, and he always asks if there are any questions. He uses terminology congruent to the game, then explains what the term mean. He's patient, and praises attempts, all the while reinforcing the fundamentals and always keeping the basics in focus. He repeats key concepts and explains how they build on the play of the game. He's concerned about safety making sure proper footwear is worn, sunscreen is applied, water beaks are taken and repeating if a ball is missed or on the ground, let it go so not to roll an ankle.

You don't have to be a world-class athlete to have a good time, and that's part of what makes it so addictive. My first visit was with my wife and some cousins and aunts visiting from Iowa. We spent the afternoon playing a few spirited games of pickleball--which I absolutely dominated, for the record--while enjoying some snacks and drinks before heading inside for dinner. The food was surprisingly good. I'd describe it as elevated bar food that actually delivers on the flavor. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was energetic without feeling overwhelming, and the entire place just had a welcoming vibe. We'll definitely be back... and back... and back. The atmosphere is what really makes this place stand out. It's open, energetic, and gives everyone options--whether you want to jump into a game of pickleball, play cornhole, or just relax on the lawn and chat. It made networking feel natural instead of forced. The food and drinks were both great, but what impressed me most was the staff. It didn't matter who we asked for help--everyone was friendly, attentive, and happy to assist. That level of service really elevated the experience. I've been playing pickleball casually on and off over the years with my family when time allows…read more.. an evening here, a weekend day there, during some downtime on an out of town trip, etc... We'd mostly just hit around until recently when we started playing a bit more competitively and more often... and that's when I realized how much I love the game and that I want to learn, improve, and play more often! Practice could only get me so far as I had never really taken a lesson... I'd been following Seidwinder Pickleball for awhile and know Andrew from his involvement in the local community. He's an excellent baseball / softball coach, and super patient with the kids. I signed up for his "Pickleball 102 - Advanced Beginners/Low-Intermediate - RISING STAR CLASS," that took place at the Phoenician on a recent Thursday morning. It was a fabulous experience! I appreciate the Seidwinder class philosophy that they teach their clinics just like they do to the resort guests... with a mindset of making the most of your time together and squeezing in plenty of tips and tricks to advance your pickleball game. They limit the guests to 8 maximum per clinic and in the one that I took, there were 5 of us total. Andrew had a great balance with getting us moving and doing all kinds of drills to teaching and demonstrating. He is super positive and personable and a pleasure to learn from... as promised, we had some doubles play time at the end of the two hour clinic focused on positioning, strategy and shot selection. If you're in the market to learn the basics of pickleball or to take your game to the next level, I highly recommend Seidwinder Pickleball. Thanks again, Andrew!

"Where the dinks are pristine and the screams are Olympic-level"…read more Pickleball Backyard is the Disneyland of dink rallies -- seven beautiful courts so well maintained, you'll think you're playing in a tennis pro's dream journal. The staff? Superstars. Engaging, helpful, and somehow always managing to look cool while chasing rogue balls. The common areas are cleaner than my conscience after returning a serve just out and not calling it. Bathrooms? Spotless. Like, "I'd eat a post-match hot dog off the floor" clean. (I didn't, but I considered it.) However -- and I say this with affection -- when the competitive folks show up? Oh boy. It's less backyard and more Pickleball Thunderdome. Every point is a life-or-death struggle, punctuated by screams of "YEAHHHH!" like someone just won Wimbledon... and custody of the dog. But hey -- if you can dodge a ball and an ego, you'll have a great time. Bring earplugs, bring a good attitude, and bring your A-game. This place is a smash hit (literally).

There was a torrential downpour that day and the outdoor courts we were supposed to play on didn't work out for our women's doubles bracket. Thanks to some quick thinking by Nanna B and the tournament organizers, they found Pickleball Backyard and we were still able to play! My daughter and I made it, albeit a bit late, but it all worked out... We found the courts to be great, the employees super nice, and the overall facility more than adequate. We utilized the restroom, took some photos on the podium, and refilled our water bottles. They have some snacks / vending machines and I hear they are open 24/7, which is pretty cool! It is a bit far from home, otherwise I'd say we'd be back soon and often. Thanks again PB!

Love this little park!…read more I live close by and run/walk the nearby canal often, but never thought to review it until now... My family recently took up pickleball and GR Herberger currently has four pickleball courts. The park also has two tennis courts, two sand volleyball courts, some picnic tables and benches, a private parking lot, public bathrooms, a grassy area, and easy access to the Arizona Falls and the aforementioned canal. So, I've been frequenting this park more often and I'm so grateful it exists! Note: If you do intend to play pickleball, there are some rules for rotating it in to keep it fair for everyone... If you're seeking more of a playground park for kids to play, Arcadia Park is a super quick walk across Indian School as well.

I've also attempted to utilize it on multiple occasions with no luck, but hoping that will change in the future. Based on my experience there, the courts are beautiful and there are some light concessions available. Plenty of parking as well. It looks like there are now clinics and open play offered throughout the week, so that may be something to look into in the future. In the past, the process to check availability was to call or text the GM directly, and the times that I was looking for just never worked out. With pickleball now a huge part of life for my family, I'm sure I'll be back soon!

There were a few homeless people around but felt safe inside the courts. I saw lots of families out on the playground to multiple courts being used. Plenty of parking but only a few that are shaded under a tree. Water stations throughout the tennis courts and access to bathrooms. They have racketball courts, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, corn hole area, playground (with a canopy cover for the aun), basketball and tennis courts. We will be back for sure.

This was our second project with Steve and his team at Apex courts. He did a Tennis court for us in…read more2020. Now, in 2024, he did a Pickleball court for us. Steve is an expert. He knows sports courts. He has the complete team: demo, concrete, painters and electricians. He has people who will get approval from the city. Also, Steve is very prompt in answering his texts and emails and communication throughout the projects was very good. He personally shows up whenever some issue comes up during the project. His other team members also communicate promptly by phone or text. We have referred him to a couple of our friends for their projects. We will use him again for our next project when time comes.
