Really enjoyed our visit to the Pitch. We got pretzel bites/chips and queso to start and both were good. We shared a black and Bleu burger and the hot chix pizza for a main. I'd take the pizza over the burger any day of the week. Absolutely delicious. The fries are good as well. Loved the interior of this place too. Only issue we had was the waiting but we did have a big party so I'll cut them some slack on that. Overall it's well worth the visit and we'll be back soon. read more

The nachos are so good they too got a red card from the referee outside. Even the ranch scored a hat trick. It's almost as if a world-renowned chef runs a sports bar for fun. The only foul is the road getting to and from there. Those potholes are the size of soccer balls. But I'll grip that wheel like a hard man and come back soon. read more

A JAMES BEARD AWARD WINNER It's located at a very sporty soccer pitch hence its name with a huge swimming pool behind it and a full bank of windows to watch the players. I ordered a Detroit style vegetarian pizza, thin crust with a balsamic glaze drizzled on top. This was the second time we were here because I loved this pizza so much the last time we came through WV. My husband ordered a Reuben. It was full of real corned beef, juicy and not too thick. His fries with salt and pepper completed his meal nicely. I had a bite (OK a couple bites) and it was fantastic! But you probably want to know about the service right? Well, our server, Keeley was fantastic; she took great care of us, checking on us many times during the evening. We were there for a couple of hours as there was trivia night so we had a great time. Unsure what happened in the kitchen but this is one of the worst quality boneless wings I've had for a sports bar and such few given for 12$. Will never be ordering the boneless wings again. My family was driving through this area on a trip to the east coast and I think this place is perfect if you need a place to stop with friends or with kids. It sits in the middle of an outdoor sports complex so there is a playground, swimming pool, and soccer field. The place has indoor and outdoor seating with a nice view of the area. I was super happy with this find. The food was tasty and unique. We started off with pretzels, cheese curds, and the corn fritters. For our meals we got burgers and a pizza. It's not terrible. Not terrible, that is, for a low priced, casual dining establishment with no pretensions. For a restaurant operated by an "award winning chef" it is a disappointment. The menu is generic and the quality of the ingredients is indistinguishable from what you get at virtually any sports bar or or casual dining restaurant Evidently, winning a James Beard Award has much more to do with marketing and schmoozing than it does with creativity or food quality. It's maybe a half-step up from strip-mall chains like Applebee's and Chili's. If I ever happen to be at Shawnee for an event, I'd probably give it another go rather than drive several miles through traffic to get a meal but, I would not consider ever making a special trip to eat there again. read more

Food was really good, service was good and the food came out really fast. I always appreciate the yelp reviews for good places that I might normally not try. This place is next to a busy soccer complex, so I might otherwise avoid it on a Saturday/Sunday, but we were next door and hungry and it didn't disappoint. I went to the Dunbar location, and it was super busy. But we were seated within 10 minutes. Our server Carly was amazing! First, she was very nice and explained any questions we had about the menu. Whewwwwww y'all. We went to The Pitch WV for date night dinner and were blown away. The atmosphere is ale house meets ski lodge, perfect ambiance for a sports bar. They use the app Untappd to display their most current beer selections (download before you leave the house if you can), with a full service bar upstairs and downstairs. The restaurant overlooks the pool and fields at the Shawnee Sports Complex, which is very "country club-sequel", hold the uppity. Restaurant was clean, seating comfortable, all employees wearing masks, social distancing in place, plenty of parking. We really went in because date nightttt. We started with the Pepperoni Balls and Cornfused for appetizers. Deep fried pepperoni balls with marinara sauce; Southwest corn fritter with sweet potato tots, pulled pork, topped with a scallion crema, a spicy honey sauce for dipping. Both were cooked to perfection. My husband had the 8" Deep Dish Mountaineer Pizza which was SO good. The marinara was obviously made with love. A nice touch, the mushrooms were local to WV. I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich with chips. THIS is how you do Buffalo sauce people. Not too buttery, nor was it one of those sauces with just heat and no flavor. The homemade potato chips were dusted with their "special dust" which is some kind of chili sugar. WHOA. I asked for chipotle ranch to dip them in and couldn't stop myself from continuously eating them. The tomato was THICCCCCC, and the lettuce crisp and fresh. My husbands LIT was a little off, not enough mix to liquor ratio we think. My "Porter? I Barley knew her" was soooooo good. Perfect temperature, the correctly shaped glass for a porter. It's hard to find a good local porter and they've done it here. ‍ Tasha was our server and she was A1 y'all. She was ON it. We will request her moving forward. Overall, we give this place a 9/10. The burgers my wife and I had felt like it had too much toppings but still really good! Recommendation take less topping off and it would be even better!
