It seemed like the restaurant was dealing with a huge rush, but they were both so calm, cool, and collected the entire time. We had an item missing from our order, and Des was incredibly attentive about it, checking in with us and following up until everything was taken care of. She was genuinely a great server and made what could have been a frustrating situation completely painless. And of course, the food is always amazing! My favorites are the hot honey, burrata & sausage pizza and the house salad which is seriously one of the best salads I've had. The buffalo cauliflower is also delicious, although I wish the portion were a little bigger! Great service, great food, and a great location. Parking can sometimes be a little challenging, but it's worth it. Again thank you, Des! We really appreciated you taking such great care of us!

Despite the long lines and obvious influx of customers, they all maintained such positive attitudes. A special shout-out to Des, who went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening. She checked on our table several times, and when a few items were missing from our order, she made sure everything was corrected right away. We also won a trivia question that earned everyone in our party a free beer flight, and the bartender was friendly and helpful as well. It's refreshing to see that genuine hospitality and great customer service still exist. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back!

The first time I came by, he actually remembered that I called the day before & he ran out of pizza unfortunately. I told him I would come back the next day, and he was so accommodating about the pizza situation that he discounted my order for me. I love love love their deep dish pizzas! Perfect size and very generous with the sauce and meats. I don't know where I'll go to get my pizzas now as this place has been my go-to spot for a while. Thanks for everything & I wish you good luck in your endeavors!

First, a huge shoutout to Hector, the owner, who was incredibly kind and friendly over the phone while placing our order. He made the whole process seamless and stress-free, which is everything when you're planning a kids' party. The pizza itself was AMAZING. As someone who is plant-based, it's so refreshing to find a pizza spot that isn't exclusively vegan but still offers delicious, well-thought-out vegan options. That can be hard to come by and Perfect Pizza absolutely delivers. Every pizza we ordered was a hit. Even our non-vegan guests were shocked at how good the vegan pizzas were. They couldn't stop talking about them! We'll definitely be coming back again. So grateful to have a place like this that truly caters to everyone.

Elijah and Eric hooked us up and let us taste their mojos, which is their version of fried potato chips. And it's very good! Crispy and just a little bit thicker than chips. The pizza had a great doughy crust. The wings were crispy. And the salad bar had great options and was fresh. I was surprisingly delighted by this place. We will definitely be back. It's a laid back, diner type vibe.

This may have been my first visit to a Shakey's where I wasn't wearing a baseball uniform…read more I think the last time I went to Shakey's (not this location) was after a Little League game--one that I played in. That was [insert ridiculously large number here] years ago. There used to be Shakey's locations everywhere. If you played sports as a kid way back when, your team went to Shakey's to celebrate a win. Or you drowned your sorrows in pitchers of Coke or Root Beer after a loss. The location in Escondido is massive. The main dining room is humongous and they even have a nice video game room. The pizza is about on par with Pizza Hut quality and that's fine with most people, especially if you have young kids. And, of course, what visit to Shakey's is complete without some Mojo Potatoes? Basically, they are well-seasoned thick potato slices. I like them and there's also some added nostalgic value there. On the negative side, our food took forever to make which was a bit of a drag. Also, there were multiple uncleaned tables on a Saturday night that remained uncleaned during our entire visit. My guess is the restaurant was short-staffed (both front and back of house) which doesn't make a lot of sense on a busy Saturday night. They've got beer and a salad bar (now that's a real unicorn these days) and you can even get anchovies on your pizza (save your hate, they're good). They also have TVs everywhere so if there is sports being played somewhere, this is the place to watch it. I probably wouldn't return for the pizza and certainly not for the dirty tables. The Mojos are solid and if you have young children, are looking to catch a game, or if you want some decent nostalgia, it's worth a visit. Bonus points if you come dressed in your old Little League uniform.

Every time I'm in the area my friends and I come here because the food is so good. We usually get the lasagna which is fantastic but this time I got pizza. The pizza is delicious. Mostly dark throughout, red & white checkered tablecloths, chianti bottles everywhere. I was solo and upon entering I was offered what appeared to be the worst possible table in the place, a half banquette staring at a wall. I declined that table and found something more suitable and comfortable with better lighting towards the rear. I immediately began by ordering a half carafe of chianti which came filled to the brim. I also requested some bread. The waitress brought out a couple of empty plates and small dish of butter packets. No bread, but I have butter. Go figure. For my dinner I ordered the Lasagna with meat sauce (half-order) and a meatball. The bread wound up coming out with the meal. The lasagna and meatball were good sized portions, but nothing came out properly hot. Not even the serving dishes. Everything was just varying degrees of lukewarm to warm. This is a problem that plagues most Filippi's in my experience. Poway is probably the worst. Aside from the food temps, everything was tasty and flavorful. While there are other Italian establishments in the area, this one continues to offer fairly reasonable prices and expanded operating hours which I appreciate.
