Stopped in here to get a bite with a friend from Tampa and a few locals. A good place for Pizza and Stromboli's. Also the beer selection is pretty good. They had Guiness on tap, my favorite. The waiter was helpful and friendly and got our drinks and orders in pretty quick. I had the deluxe boil and it was great. The dough was done up right, and the fillings were to die for. I was hoping they would have Moose Drool beer from Montana but no luck there. Overall good place for beer and pie, check them out if in the area. read more

PIzza Joint? Seems like first time making a pizza. Worst Service in Town. I can make a pizza at home - from scratch - faster than an establishment that is called the Pizza Joint. If you have plans or places to be after dining - cancel them - you are not gonna make it. Like eating with others, your family, friends? Plan on eating your item alone while your fellow guests watch you, then take turns every 20 minutes for another ordered item to arrive (even a simple slice of pepperoni), so you all can focus on that persons food and stare at them now as they eat. Don't take the gamble and hope the other guests food arrives so you can eat together... your food, if lucky to get it first, will be cold by the time your guests get theirs. Mind you, this experience I share is an order that took almost two hours. Here is the order: 1 kids spaghetti, 3 kids slices of cheese pizza, one small pizza, a slice of regular pepperoni pizza, and a reuben sandwich. Pizza Joint, me thinks not, bring a book, hell - write a book. You will have time. Want to talk to the manager about it, sure, voice your opinion to the poor waiter who is frazzled and has no support. Ask for the manager, and watch the waiter go to him and watch the manager hide and do the "im busy dance" You still wont talk to him, it will still be another 25 minutes till your food shows up.... and he will bring a plate and hide around the corner to hand it to the waiter and not make eye contact. Service starts at the top, and if management is weak, your establishment is weak. This is how it goes at the Pizza Joint...there are other places to get pizza and beer - save your time, save your sanity and most importantly save your $ - - We will be, lesson learned, you've been warned. read more

The wings and pizza are good. However the service is very slow. We waited a little over a hour for our pizza. The excuse we received from the manager on duty was, "we make it by hand." First let me say , I love supporting local businesses, it's what draws me back here each time. I really want this to be my go to for friends, fun, food and football. However, having just left, it's unlikely we will return any time soon. Unfortunately, they lost 8 customers today. We were all literally sweating from the lack of air circulation in the building. They tell you it's because you are near the windows but that's not true. Waffle House right next door is full of windows and it is properly cooled. The entire restaurant has poor circulation. The root cause is the building is poorly insulated and the air conditioning system needs to be replaced. Until this happens, it is unlikely we will return. On a good note, the pizza was good and staff was friendly dislike their sweaty brows! Morale of the story- take out!! read more

This place serves really delicious pizza. The downfall is that service here is horrible. I entered the restaurant at 4:23pm on a Thursday (not busy at all). I was asked if I wanted something to drink at 4:57pm. Took the waiter/bartender 16 minutes to bring me my drink. At 5:13pm she asked if I wanted to eat something. That's what I came for. As if I needed another reason to never go back to the Pizza Joint! Their food is great...everything else about it sucks. I used to defend them and keep going back to support a local business and looked past the poor service for the food and the atmosphere. Then they had the health inspection debacle a few months ago. Not good. Today I gathered up my growlers to return them for deposits and when I got to the Pizza Joint I was told I could get a refill but they didn't take return growlers! I was clearly told it was a deposit when I ordered it...do yourself a favor and head up the road a bit to Mellow Mushroom for Pizza and Tip Top Taps for your growlers...they both know how to treat customers! Worst thing is that it's been like this forever...they obviously just don't care. read more

We stopped in for lunch and to try out another pizza place nearby. My boss had told me that he didn't like The Pizza Joint and that The Mellow Mushroom had the best pizza. Well, I have to disagree. There is so much good to say about this place. The Pizza Joint is a great stop for great food and chill environment. As as you enter the resturant you get greeted by the host who has awesome customer service. All the waiters are awesome and are on top of there game. Never once did my wife or I had to ask for a refill, they know the menu inside out and make good suggestions and can accommodate your request. The menu is good....the only thing is I wish they had a little more for selections however with that said they have the pizza department cover. The Pizza Joint price are nothing to complain about what so ever. For the amount of food you get is insane. I have not yet finish what I oder at one time. We dined here on Christmas Eve. While we were excited they had pesto to put on the pizza, something tasted off about it, and we just figured it was our lack of additional vegetable on the pizza. It's not good. The pizza wasn't fresh. The service is excellent but the food isn't. Mellow Mushroom is better and the prices are similar. Both spots offer military discount. Been here 3 times over the span of a year and can report that the food and service were consistently awful. Co-workers and I kept giving mulligans based on reviews and that it was always packed. Pizza is as cold as a mother-in-law with dough so chewy it could co-pilot the Millenium Falcon. I can't understand the popularity, but then again, there are people that eat Tide Pods and even more that believe in a flat Earth....though flat earth would probably taste better. 4 stars to the food and beer selection! Food never dissapoints. Love the large patio seating. The service can range from awesome to "where the heck did the server go?!" It takes FOREVER to get drinks from the bar if you end up sitting at a table, so I usually order another beer long before I actually want one. Staff seems to bring food out as it's made, not the whole table at once, so if you are there with multiple people with different orders, be prepared to watch your friends chow down on their slices while your waiting on your calzone. This place is really hit or miss. There's one waitress I particularly like but I don't know her name and she seems new. But there are a lot of people who work here who have poor attitudes and are generally bad people. Many times the food comes to my table either burnt or cold and my drinks (beer, mixed drinks) sit at the bar for what feels like ages before someone brings them to our table. Unlike other restaurants, Pizza Joint seems laid back when it comes to giving good service and that's silly. I mean, most of the waiters/waitresses won't even greet people with a smile. Anyways, the food is good when it's made right and brought to your table before it gets cold, but I still have to wonder if they fixed their health score. I mean, they must've (since they haven't closed down) but you never really know... Oh, and I feel I should mention that the service is better in the evening. Okay, so we could all deal with the Pizza Joint in the 'mid 90's' downtown cause we didn't care, but we are all grown up now. Upgrade your bathrooms at this location, make sure the soap dispenser isn't broken off, and the toilets aren't stained and nasty looking. Basically, the whole restaurant. Very slow service, usually waiting for 45 minutes to an hour just for your food to arrive. Servers do a good job of ignoring you as well. Don't expect a refill on your beverage without having to wait 20 minutes. I used to love this location but it's seriously lost all credibility to me. It feels like they don't care at all about you. I'm giving a 5 star review because we had a great server (Bradley) and because the food was good as always. However the manager, Brian, was extremely rude. Bradley was talking to us about our next round of drinks, when Brian approached him and told him to clean off a couple tables near us because people wanted to sit at them. Meanwhile, Brian, went back to talk to employees who were drinking at the bar off the clock. Extremely unprofessional. It took all I had not to say something to this "manager" about his tactics after he interrupted a server at a table. Also the tables that needed to be cleaned are still sitting empty. It's a good place to go alone to enjoy the bar atmosphere and enjoy the many sporting events they have on there many TVs. Or, to take the family for dinner. We asked for 1 TV to be changed, the one no one else can see...tucked in corner of bar. Bar tender changed it... come to find out...it changed 5 TVs. The biggest issues with the place are parking and service. No matter how slow they have been the service leaves you wanting. I think their toppings are very good quality with the pricing being spot on. I would say that I wish they would put more sauce on their pizza because even with asking for extra sauce it comes out a bit dry. There are a lot of beer taps but many times they will be out or the kegs have become noticeably old. I will not knock them too much for this because at least they are trying in a town that has no idea what good beer is. I think the pizza is in general just as good if not better than mellow mushroom especially considering the pricing. If the service was better the place would get 4 stars easy. read more
