Probably one of my favorite pizza restaurants in the Augusta area. Has a good atmosphere, and there large selections of beer on tap is great. It's a good place to go alone to enjoy the bar atmosphere and enjoy the many sporting events they have on there many TVs. Or, to take the family for dinner. The biggest issues with the place are parking and service. No matter how slow they have been the service leaves you wanting. I think their toppings are very good quality with the pricing being spot on. I would say that I wish they would put more sauce on their pizza because even with asking for extra sauce it comes out a bit dry. There are a lot of beer taps but many times they will be out or the kegs have become noticeably old. I will not knock them too much for this because at least they are trying in a town that has no idea what good beer is. I think the pizza is in general just as good if not better than mellow mushroom especially considering the pricing. If the service was better the place would get 4 stars easy. read more

They have an extensive beer list and the food is good when it arrives on time. We've gone here a ton of times over the years...does a single waiter have an accurate beer list, ever? How come only one person, seemingly, works in the kitchen? We actually love this place, but it's insane how many times we've sat down and we were told "pizza (a slice) is gonna take about an hour." servers are nice...basically apologetic from the get go. Is it a management issue? It has to be, right? If you don't have enough cooks on a Saturday night to make a slice for every seat, it sounds like a management problem. Also, what happened to the fish tank? It's a lot easier to keep two kids happy when they have something to look at. Is the other cook buried in there? This is supposed to be the go-to. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Affordable. Large portions. Food was delicious. Only problem I had was our group of about 9 received our meals at different times. Some were done with their meals before others received theirs. Our server said that there was a whole new staff in the kitchen and they had been having problems like this at the time. I'd give it a higher rating if we didn't have to chase our server down to get this information. Other than that, I enjoyed it and will likely return. read more

My husband is the pizza connoisseur in our home so we eat a fair share of pizza. This pizza is good but not great; cheesy, and a good choice of toppings. I do like their garlic knot appetizer. The atmosphere is chill and family-oriented. Saturday nights can get crazy in there (crazy meaning packed). The restaurant attracts both families and singles who want to hang out, eat pizza, and drink beer. They used to have big fish Aquariums with cool and rather large fish that our children enjoyed when they were smaller. They don't have those anymore. So glad we came here instead of another pizza place we were thinking of. First time there, they are open late which was awesome we didnt get in until about 10pm. Our server was friendly but she didnt really k ow anything about the beers. Every beer I ordered shed come back and it was out. The pizza was pretty amazing. I used to like this place....Food is good and lots of good beer. The reason for the low rating is that I along with many of the people I know will not go here anymore. They do not wish that we conceal carry our firearms in their establishment even though we are non drinking, law abiding citizens and that's just not something we are going to accept. been here once & ate in. we were seated immediately but the wait for the pizza was around an hour. we ordered garlic knots to keep our tummies from grumbling in the meantime but didn't get those--our server cancelled them when he realized the pizza was going to be out around the same time, which was appreciated. the pizza was good and they let us split the toppings half and half. however, it DEFINITELY wasn't "new york style" as advertised as on the awnings out front, as it's not the gigantic super thin variety with a delicious crispy crust that i've had in new york. maybe georgians don't know any better, but you're playing a dangerous game with all the well-traveled military families stationed at fort gordon that live in the area. the server was really nice, though visibly overworked. they could definitely use some more staff on the weekends. they do an active duty military discount but i didn't see it advertised anywhere--our very astute server noticed my husband's navy federal bank card and told us about it, which was super nice of him! it's really not bad, and we'll certainly be back, but it's not what i was expecting based on how the restaurant describes itself & the wait suuuucked. read more

Kitchen was slow and the food was overcooked. It had a smell of dirty water around our table, so I wasn't sure if our table was wiped with a dirty wash cloth or if the floor had been mopped with a dirty mop. There was also water on the floor behind us next to the service station so it may have been from that. Instead on fixing that, they just had a wet floor sign. It was quite slippery from the grease/water combination on the way to the restrooms. read more

Got great seats by the aquarium, so kids were massively entertained, which was awesome because it did take a little while for the pizza. But that is okay. Just left Pizza joint Evans at 1:00pm on my lunch & the place wasn't busy & I found a table easily. & after 20 mins of waiting on a server & then another 15 to place an order. Ugh! Then I approach the bar to place an order the bartender clearly saw me as my table was right across from the bar. When we went into the restaurant the service was SOOOOOOO slow. They have a big sign that says its "fresh" and it takes time, but this was pretty much ridiculous. I'm all for real pizza that takes time but I was starting to wonder whether they were rising the dough back there! The pizza is good however. We stopped going in, cause the slowness drives me nutty, but we order and pick up and its fine. Only once has a pick up been sub-par, every other time after that it's been great. read more

After eating here several times, I unfortunately have to say that I don't think I will be back. Last week, my boyfriend and I visited and ordered a medium cheese pizza with an appetizer. The appetizer was pretty good; however, the pizza was not up to par. We politely mentioned this to our waiter, whom agreed to get us a new pizza. By this time, a simple cheese pizza was no longer what we wanted, so we ordered the carnivore pizza. The waiter put in our order, told us to wait 7-10 minutes, and never once apologized for the dissatisfaction on our end. 15+ minutes go by, the waiter brings out our carnivore pizza, and says "I know this is burnt, but hopefully this does it for y'all." The pizza most definitely was burnt, as the crust was black and as hard as a rock. Clearly, our waiter acknowledged that this pizza was worse off than the first one we had ordered, willingly served it to us, and then walked away immediately and never returned to apologize/check on us. We got in touch with the manager who was super, super nice and understanding, and even gave us an "IOU" coupon for a free carnivore pizza on our next visit. We really appreciated her apologetic attitude and the encouragement given to us to come back, so today my boyfriend returned for his free pizza and to give this another shot, but was disappointed yet again. This time, the pizza was almost identical to the one we received during our last visit - burnt. As someone who has worked in a restaurant, I know things won't always go as expected, but if a customer comes in with a coupon making up for a previous poor experience, please ensure that they leave satisfied! read more

I had a very pleasant visit to The Pizza Joint this evening. Service was prompt, and kind enough to inform my party that our food would be taking longer than expected. Great beer selection - Tuesdays are the best days as drafts are less than two dollars. Food is pretty basic for a pizza restaurant, without much imagination, which is disappointing. FALSE ADVERTISING - This is probably the farthest from NY style pizza you can possibly get. As an avid pizza consumer from Brooklyn, NY I was very disappointed. Not only was this pizza not New York style, it was dry and the sauce could have been ketchup for all I know. Plus it's way overpriced even for New York pizza standards. Service is TERRIBLE!! Waited 55 min for our 20in pizza, our waitress just left us hanging the whole time and was snooty when we asked about it. We got the manager and she informed us there was a 45 minute wait on "pies". Not apologetic at all. The same thing happened the first time we ate here 4 years ago. Five stars for a pizza parlor. Good atmosphere, nice big booths, good food, a very unique style of pizza. The crust is thin and dense to hold the toppings but airy on the edges. Had a great time at The Pizza Joint (now referred to as TPJ) with our server Jeffrey and a friends. We arrived early and was greeted by a fun pair at the host/ess stand. Jeff grabbed a high chair as soon as he saw we had our tot with us. He was happy and just refreshing. He grabbed a Beer for my husband (WW HOP COCOA - it's at the bottom of their draft beer menu) and a double whiskey for me. My tot made the choice of a large bottle of chocolate milk. Jeff was even happy to grab samples of beers for our friends to try. We settled on our meal after some recommendations of Jerk chicken calzone for Daddy, a Sicilian Chef Salad with balsamic and a slice of the big one for Mama, and the tot got a slice of the Carnivore. Jeff was even kind enough to check in to see if the tot needed the pieces cut smaller so she could handle the slice. As a parent, I appreciate that. Jeff was attentive without being overbearing and the food was delicious. Crusts were crispy! Toppings were fresh. Salad was more toppings than lettuce which could go either way for me. I love toppings, but I do want the green stuff too. Tot ate all the toppings off of her pizza before touching the crust (darn that chocolate milk she sucked down earlier). Our friends had the large pizza that was split half and half and several different beers. It is their favorite place to go, and I wish we had discovered it sooner. It's perfect for a casual get together for adults and pretty good for kiddos too. This is a decent pizza place and beer stop. You can find better nearby, but if those places are packed, the Pizza Joint will suffice for your pizza craving. I'd even say this would be the better choice for anyone rolling with a group of young folks who would like to drink and get loud during dinner. Additional positives - the folks who work here have always been friendly and accommodating, they have tasty dipping sauces available, and it's a place where your kids can get loud without bothering anyone. Being from New Jersey, finding good pizza in the south has been a stretch. Finding The Pizza Joint was wonderful - delicious pizza! But tonight we ordered take-out and we were very disappointed. We spent a ton of money on 3 pizzas - when we got home we found that one wasn't cooked through, and one was so thin on one half that it was stuck the bottom of the box and completely pulled apart. So disappointing since we have always enjoyed their pizza - and therefore usually don't mind that it is so expensive. Hoping that tonight was just a bad night for the pizza chef. read more
