    Inedible crusts.

Friendly, local place and live music some nights as well. They also give back to the community. I live locally and typically get pizza at Ramuntos and Goodman's American Pie. Village Pizza in Ludlow is also a choice (New England style ). It's been a few years since going here and figured we'd give it a try instead of dealing with ski crowds in Ludlow. The pizza was inedible: overcooked , some crust burned and petrified, crust was tasteless and the few pieces of ham on my Hawaiian pizza tasted spoiled. My husband's pepperoni and mushroom pizza was also burned and tasteless. Very little toppings were on either. There was plenty of corn meal on the bottom of the pizza; some of that was burned too. This is probably the worst pizza I've ever had since moving here 10 years ago and it's unfortunate because I'd like to support local but will not be going back. Should have read the reviews first and braved the crowds in Ludlow.

My husband and I were spending his birthday weekend in Chester, Vermont and arrived right around dinnertime. On our first evening in Chester, we decided to have dinner at the Pizza Stone. It was a Friday late afternoon; about 4pm. There was only one other table being occupied and the place was nearly dead. But since it appeared to mainly be ran as a bar that also served pizza (as opposed to the other way around), we figured it would pick up later in the evening. We were fine without the crowds anyway. The place was straightened up, but I wouldn't say "clean"; it's an older place with a lot of funky, dusty memorabilia lying around. My husband and I aren't drinkers, so I ordered a water with lemon and he an unsweetened iced tea. We generally order an appetizer, but instead just decided to go with the pizza only. We got a "build your own" with pepperoni, mushroom and extra cheese. They have a lot of different combinations to choose from, but we weren't feeling that adventurous just yet. Generally when we try a new place, we get a basic and go from there. The pizza was out in a jiffy. A woodfired crust, it was very thin and flimsy. I like thin, but prefer a more crispier crust. The sauce was good; not great. It had a familiar flavor to it that I feel like I've had elsewhere. The main problem with the pizza, aside from it being flimsy, was that it was extremely oily. It had an entire yellow layer of oil that sat on top and drained down our wrists with every bite. Aside from that, it wasn't the worst pizza we've ever had. We finished it, but I left feeling a bit disappointed. My overall opinion was just that it was 'okay'. If ever in the area, I wouldn't visit again. Prices were high for one large pizza with 3 toppings and 1 unsweetened tea at $22.62. Service was just okay, which seemed to be the theme for our entire visit.

Very nice establishment , pizza is ok , the kids liked it , but don't expect NJ or NY. The wings were good and their maple hot sauce was really nice. Staff was friendly and there's a little bar and lots of table space. There was live music on a Friday night so a nice place to be. Takeout was a one hour wait but they seater tables right away. There is an option for pies you bake at home and you can have that right away. If I'm in Chester VT again I would go back. Pretty much the only game in town for pizza so it's the best by default!

Looking for a fun atmosphere and GREAT pizza? As my brother quoted "YUM" best describes The Pizza Stone! We ordered the wings, so amazing, the HOT are HOT but the Maple Tang are truly delicious! Both our pizzas were perfection, the Maple Tang and the Sausage green pepper! Don't miss this place!

This place was awesome for casual apres-ski pizza and beer. We went on MLK weekend after skiing at Okemo and the vibes were great - the place was full but not too crazy and had fun live music. For two people, we split two small pizzas and a half salad, plus some good VT beer. No bud light here. Service was great, too. Would definitely recommend!!

Very cool vibe & good food!

Calzones are good, pizza is less than impressive and overpriced. Good selection of beer.

Miserable, rude waitress. She nearly bull rushed us out of the place even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Pizza was just so so.

The cinna stix with maple cream sauce were decadent and the calzone was enormous, hearty and satisfying.

After giving this restaurant three separate chances since they opened, I can confidently say I won't be returning. I really wanted to like this restaurant because there are so few choices in the area and I love supporting local businesses. But I just can't. The service is ok (although I felt like we were getting rushed out when they removed my dinner companion's water glass after dinner). The decor is genuinely lovely, but the overall experience feels designed for snobs and status‑seekers, not people who actually care about good food at a fair price. And to be clear, I can very well afford the finest of restaurants but I still expect if I am paying a premium that the quality of the food be commensurate. It just isn't. I would have been better off at Leslie's Tavern or the New American Grill. Each visit has left me regretting the decision to try again. I kept hoping they just needed time to get into a groove, change up the menu or improve the vibe but nothing has improved -- if anything, it's gotten worse. My pizza arrived with a blackened, burnt bottom and was completely inedible. They did replace it, but by the time the new one came out, my dinner companions were nearly finished. That's not a minor inconvenience -- that's a kitchen that's not paying attention. And the pricing is simply indefensible. Examples: Six small shrimp with cocktail sauce: $19 And these shrimp were very small, tasteless and water logged. One can of flavored seltzer: $9 I was not in the mood for alcohol so my choices were limited. I should have just stuck to water but I am sure that would have elicited a look of disdain. The food is only okay on its best day, nowhere near good enough to justify the cost. And standard level dinner conversation needs to be whispered given how close people are seated near one another otherwise, the scowly looks are sent your way. Not fun. And the menu is just boring, it hardly ever changes. One companion ordered a pasta dish. They were left hungry after consuming it all to the point we were offering them our pizza slices so he could feel full. Portions are inadequate. After three visits, I've learned my lesson. I'm not going back. I wish them luck and I hope they take my comments to heart and make changes. Or not. It's their choice.

It was a very short drive and the parking facilities were good .. the interiors and seating were good too. Lots of space inside to sit and drink. Service was good, and the waitress was always smiling and took care of us well. Being a brewery one thing that surprised me was they just had one IPA on the tap.. just one IPA.. can you believe it? I was eager and waiting to drink a home grown New England/Vermont IPA but all we had there was one variety... it was a hazy IPA and don't get me wrong. It tasted really well... but I wish they had more options. They also had a wheat ale and some wine varieties.... Even in the food front, the menu was limited and less options.. We ordered chicken wings, and it was ok. Sauce was a bit sweet .. one of the sauces was really good and spicy . Overall, it fell short of my expectation and wish they had more food and drink options.. 3 stars ...
