(just note they accept zelle & check for payment, not cc, so be aware of your bank's transfer limits or come prepared w a checkbook.) from then on our point of contact was alexus, who was also rly responsive. she was our liaison w her rental vendors so we could get linens, also at a rly reasonable price then on the day of, ashleigh was the coordinator on-site & the courses came out quick. the food was just as good as the tasting & got so many compliments! each guest i talked to had a different favorite course (including hors d'oeuvres & dessert) which just proved they were all great. (*i will say, the portions were smaller, but since food costs in general doubled between our tasting & the wedding, it was understandable. guests were still full but just didn't have as much to-go) ofc the day was such a blur, so we were a little bummed that we weren't able to enjoy our sweetheart meal to the fullest. but the great part was, chef tho invited us back to the restaurant so we could have another meal! they timed it w another couple's tasting, so the menu was different from ours but still delicious. it just further cemented that you can't go wrong w any of their dishes [now, were there a few minor hiccups along the way? sure. if we could go back in time, we'd know a 6' round table fits 10 guests more comfortably than 5'. we'd know "complimentary" services are still subject to sales tax & gratuity, so it's more like they're heavily discounted vs 100% free. we would've relied on our bar to serve the soda. & we would've specified how to cut the cake so we wouldn't have run out as early (but to be fair this was prob our coordinator's fault). but ultimately these were all minor issues compared to how great the food was & how happy we were overall.] tldr: def recommend! hott was easily the best thing about our reception!

After browsing several sites looking for suitable caterers, I landed on Hott Catering. I sent out emails to several caterers as backups, but Hott Catering was the only one who replied. Luckily it was the caterer I was most hoping for. I also knew I was pressing my luck since most caterers were already booked. Alexus called me the following day, and she sent me the details of the different options they had, and asked what day we were interested in having their service. They ended up having another party to serve the same day, but said hey have enough staff for two parties, and I would have a different chef (other than Tho). After talking with Alexus we chose the Family Style Gold Package that was the following: Appetizers: Snow Crab Soup with Asparagus & Quail Egg Thai Style Black Tiger Shrimp Cocktail Salad Main courses: Grilled Whole Scallop Top with Cheesy Baked Crab Casserole Lobster Tails with Chef's House Special Sauce Crispy Swai Fish Filet with Spicy & Sweet Passion Fruit Sauce Marinated Beef Short Ribs Stewed with Herbs & Red Wine Sauce Served with Japanese Udon Noodles Shanghai Roasted Chicken Drumsticks with Organic Turmeric Rice Dessert: Sweet Pearl Dessert with Pandan Aroma I decided to do a tasting with them at their Pho restaurant in San Marcos where they had us taste the meals we were interested in, minus the dessert (that was originally a Taro Pudding), but that we switched out for the Sweet Pearl Dessert. Everything was unbelievably delicious. I have two nephews that have dairy and nut allergies, and one of them also have an additional allergy of egg and sesame oil. And a sister in law that is pescatarian. Alexus was so kind with my requirements in trying to accommodate me with their dietary restrictions, which was about $140 additional charge for each. She threw in an extra plate for free that included a lobster tail for both of my nephews when I asked about it since their meals did not include the lobster since it typically includes dairy. She said she would add in the lobster tails for free, which made me relieved and grateful at the same time. I was worried how my nephews might feel if they saw everyone receive the lobsters. They also were SUPER gracious in letting me add an extra special meal for my husband's cousin who was allergic to gluten-free very last minute despite the contract having already been finalized and all the initial payments were made. When it came to the day of the party, everything mostly went well. There was a bit of a mixup since it wasn't Tho that was the chef because the servers did not realize that the free lobsters were included the contract. I had asked them about it, and they went to ask the chef and came back and told me that unfortunately the remaining lobsters were already cooked with dairy which made me incredibly disappointed since I had told my nephews they were getting lobster tails. They went back a third time and came back to clarify with me that actually they were wrong, the remaining lobsters were NOT cooked with dairy yet. I'm so happy it was all resolved but it stressed me out a bit at the time. My nephews and my sister in law were served after the food had come out for everyone else first. And for a 12 and 9 year old, patience is definitely not their strong suit when being hungry. I wasn't sure if my husband's cousin was served separately but I imagine so. Looking back, I think I might have gone the buffet style way. The reason being was because there were many children at my party that I chose not to order meals for with HOTT catering and it made the seating along with how the food was served confusing for both the servers and the guests that were parents. HOTT catering supports buffet style, family style and individual plate and it was just messy in the end. The dishes were all delicious (to me) and there was so much food! Many people packed home the overflow of leftovers! I wasn't sure how it went over with my husband's family who are not used to East Asian flavor and cooking, but I can't speak to their taste in food =). It was also very hot that day out in Ramona so it added to the chaos. Alexus was excellent with communication, incredibly responsible, and understanding. Tho was an excellent chef, and their other chef was also very nice, though his accent was slightly stronger. Both my husband and I were communicating with the servers and the chef going back and forth so it was a bit chaotic as we didn't have a party planner. They catered a party for us at the The Thursday Club in Point Loma in March and dazzled everyone. When we were trying to choose a caterer we were attracted to Four Seasons by the imaginative and creative flair of Chef Billy Burd's cuisine and by their very positive reviews. One thing that caught our attention about the reviews was that many of them were fairly long. Apparently reviewers were not satisfied to give 5 stars and a paragraph of praise, they really wanted to testify. They felt that Four Seasons was special and they were motivated to let you know just how special. After experiencing Four Seasons catering service we can understand that sentiment. The culinary experience Four Seasons provided was marvelous. The dishes were imaginative, taste tempting, and a delight to the eye. Guests loved the appetizers that were passed: shrimp wrapped in basil and pancetta, mushrooms with escargot, parmesan crusted artichoke hearts. The stationary display had a choice assortment of cheeses and a selection of cold seafood that included jumbo shrimp, smoked salmon, ahi poke, and a sashimi platter all beautifully presented. Suffice it to say the buffet was equally spectacular. Chef Billy takes pride in the quality of the products he sources. The filet mignon for example was gorgeous. The shrimp served in the seafood display were so tasty that they made you stop and take notice. This was a once in a lifetime kind of party for us so we pulled out the stops when we were choosing items for the menu. It's very much to Billy and Sierra's credit that part of their response was to say that and they would be happy to offer some more budget friendly variations. We appreciated their inclination to work with clients to find good solutions to their needs. We enjoyed meeting with Chef Billy one time early in the planning process, but other than that, all the planning and coordination was handled by Sierra. She is fantastic and a pleasure to work with. She gave us recommendations on the initial approach to the menu, on down to details like the serving schedule, linens, and the table floor plan. We communicated mostly through email which was very productive because her emails, besides being congenial, were always clear and complete. And it was amazing how quickly she would reply, usually the same day. When it came to the final week before the party and it was time to summarize all the various emails and discussions Sierra nailed it, she recapped everything perfectly. The Four Seasons staff were wonderful. During the set up time they operated like clockwork. During the party they could not have been more charming and gracious. This is another major point to Billy and Sierra's credit. It takes care and effort to assemble a team of this quality--a group of individuals who interface harmoniously not only with the guests, but with each other, and with other vendors such as the florist. The whole event flowed thanks to the staff. When you are planning a special event you hope to create a joyful and memorable experience for all your guests. At the time of writing this review I believe the venue has been bought out and have an exclusive contract with a different catering company, but we still got to use Toast because we booked before that happened. We originally got quotes from a few different companies and went with toast because they were on the cheaper side while still having options we wanted! They were easy to communicate with and answered emails in a (mostly) timely manner. We personalized a lot of options: beer battered fish tacos, station style set up, carne asada made gluten free, vegan options at all stations, plated salad, water carafes on each table, etc... Some of these thing we did have to confirm multiple times and the beer battered tacos were still being confirmed going into the day but all of our choices ended up happening and were amazing! People are still raving to us about the beer battered fish. They were attentive with allergies and made it a point to have options for everyone. Wedding food is often hit or miss and being honest we were expecting mediocre food but honestly everything was amazing! Ending the night with tray passed churros was truly the best part. They did start cleaning up semi early and took water glasses away a bit earlier than necessary but we understand cleaning up takes time.
