Both my sons have attended The Playhouse preschool. My oldest attended for 2 years and my youngest has been with Kyle for 5 months. Both boys have definitely thrived in the environment. I couldn't believe what my oldest learned. He was the first in his K class to count to 100 and he was able to add, subtract, and multiply by the time he was in K. Our youngest has really come a long way verbally since attending preschool. Most important is the community and friendships that they have made. My oldest son's two best friends are friends that he met 3-4 years ago from preschool. Some of the families have become like second families to us while we don't see others as often it's still so fun to see each other at sporting events or out and about. I won't say that the transition to public school was smooth for my oldest son because he just wanted to go back to preschool. But I really don't see that as a bad thing. When I had questions about education for my eldest Lynn gave me the most helpful assessment of my son's educational needs that I've ever received. So while it's only a year or two of my kids life it really feels like it has had a lasting positive ripple effect and I'm so glad my kids have this important opportunity to be little. read more

We were so fortunate to find Kyle and wish we had found him sooner. When we first contacted Kyle, he answered all of my questions, was very kind when we went to visit and included our older child in the visit, and was extremely accommodating. We had to move our youngest son to The Playhouse Preschool, earlier than we had expected and the entire process was great! Kyle helped my youngest with the transition to a new place. They worked on and through my son's emotions, talked to him and treated him like a person when he's only 2. Kyle and his assistants are talked about frequently in our home. They have helped and supported the potty training process, they celebrate the children's successes, and meet the children at their level. After starting, my 2 year old came home using full length sentences, singing songs, talking about friends, using manners consistently, and expressing himself so much more! The other kids are kind and love one another. The other parents are just as kind and welcoming to these young developing friendships. We are so grateful to have found Kyle and look forward to our son developing and growing even more over the next few years! read more

I really wanted to like the Playhouse. Kyle/Randy sounded very confident in his ability to prepare kids for kindergarten and I was so excited to send my toddlers (age 3.5) to the Playhouse. It was their first experience in a school setting. They've always been at home with us. But what seemed to be missing from the childcare dynamic was "care." Kyle/Randy kicked them out after two half days -- a total of seven hours. He described them as "inconsolable and defiant." When I asked for more information, he said one of my kids wouldn't keep the seatbelt on in the buggy and was upset when he wouldn't give her more crackers. (I agree with the latter; she already had crackers.) My other child was very sad at being left with someone he didn't know. Both said "no" to various requests, which is something he didn't want the younger, impressionable kids to pick up on (as if kids don't eventually learn the word "no" anyway). Neither of my kids was violent. Neither was destructive. Their behaviors were totally normal for their age. Kyle/Randy also insinuated that they have no boundaries at home. I spent weeks questioning our parenting abilities as other educators and parents assured me it was wrong -- abhorrent, in fact -- to kick kids out of preschool after just two half days. It can take a month or longer for them to accept such a huge change. Yet, seven hours was enough for Kyle/Randy. Sure, the academics at the Playhouse sound great. But if you have children who could be even somewhat challenging, I wouldn't suggest the Playhouse. They want easy and they clearly don't understand that kids aren't always -- or even often -- that. read more

My family has been with Kyle and The Playhouse since 2020. Somehow, we were lucky enough to get a spot at this amazing in-home preschool/daycare in the height of COVID when we moved up here. At the time, our daughter had already been in a similar school for about a year and a half, and we were worried about finding a place that could match where she had been. The Playhouse exceeded our expectations!! Kyle provides a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for children to play and learn. Our daughter, who is now in Kindergarten, absolutely thrived when she started school last year in TK. Her teachers were so impressed with how ready she was for school, both socially and academically. I know her readiness for and success in school so far is in large part because of the environment and experience at The Playhouse. She made so many friends and learned so much! Our son (age almost 3) is now at The Playhouse, getting to follow in big sister's footsteps. He had a bit of separation anxiety at the beginning, but Kyle navigated that so patiently and always kept us in the loop. Now any time we get in the car, he's ready to go to "Big Kyle's house!" In the five months he has been there, I can see such a huge difference in how he communicates, the things he has learned (letters, numbers, shapes, songs), his ability to share and interact with other kids, and the list goes on and on. I can't say enough good things about Kyle. It is obvious that he cares so deeply for the kids at The Playhouse. My 2 and 4 year old sons have been attending The Playhouse preschool for a few months and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Lynne and Kyle are the best that there is. My boys have absolutely thrived in their care. My boys were getting ready to start at a larger, top rated daycare after being on a waitlist for several years. I kept getting this nagging feeling that there was somewhere else that they were supposed to be. From my first conversation with Lynne, I knew that The Playhouse was the place I had been searching for. There is not a day that goes by that I'm not extremely thankful that my kids are getting the absolutely best care from people who feel more like family than childcare providers! There are so many things that I love about this school but just to name a few: 1.) There is excellent communication and excellent follow through. 2.) There is a strong focus on health, nutrition, and general wellness which aligns wells with my own families values. The kids spend a lot of time outside, in the backyard and going on walks and to the park. I find this to be so huge and something that I would be doing with my boys if I were home with them during the day so I love that they have the opportunity to explore, get fresh air daily, and do activities like yoga. I love that Lynne and Kyle are so passionate about health and that so much of that is naturally incorporated into their program. 3.). My boys have learned SO MUCH since starting. In particular, my 4 year old has improved tremendously in math, reading, and writing in just a few months which really surprised me because he went to another preschool for the last school year. I have no doubt that he will be well ahead in terms of kindergarten readiness next year which is a huge weight off of my shoulders. 4.) Lynne and Kyle have been SO FLEXIBLE and accommodating to my boys unique and individual needs. My boys absolutely adore both of them as well as Miss Summer which speaks volumes because my boys are very very vocal about who is good to them and who is not good. 5.) Lynne is extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and educated in her field. It is obvious that she has an investment in the lives of each of the children that she has in her care and it is so refreshing and reassuring to know that my kids are spending the day with people who genuinely care about them and go out of their way to meet their physical, mental, social, and emotional needs. 6.) the whole group of kids that attend the school are just really outstanding. My kids have made so many friends and have not had a single complaint about anyone. Lastly - I wanted to add (because there is a review on here regarding potty training) my son had just turned two when he started at the playhouse. I had just potty trained him in the two weeks prior to starting and he was at the height of a regression related to fear of the toilet because of an issue he had had with constipation. Lynne was absolutely outstanding in helping our little guy get through his regression and back on track. He has had a total of 1 accidents since starting at the Playhouse and I attribute that to Lynnes experience as both a provider and parent. Long story short - this preschool is absolutely outstanding. As someone who a few short months ago was reading through hundreds of reviews, Facebook pages, doing phone interviews and tours and searching high and low for a place that deserved to be with my boys during the week - it was an absolute Blessing to find Lynne and Kyle and I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone. read more

The Play House is such a special school! Lynne and Kyle are very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating! I really love how serious they are about Hand washing/hygiene as well as their sock policy. It really eased my mind when my son first started when my daughter was a newborn. They will send you pictures on occasion which was very special! My daughter started going to The Playhouse right after she turned four. Shes now five, and I couldn't be more comfortable with her starting kindergarten in the fall. Her excitement to go to school every day has given me so much joy and it all started with The Playhouse! She came from a large play-based center and could spell and write her name within a few months with Kyle. The environment alone is absolutely amazing. I chose The Playhouse for a couple of reasons. I was referred by a close friend that used to be an assistant years ago. She insisted I check this facility out because of the amazing teachers. The curriculum that's being used to get these kiddos ready for school. I saw my daughter quickly and efficiently absorb all of this knowledge just in the first couple months of starting. They presented new things in such a fun way that the kiddos are excited and eager to learn. I would absolutely recommend The Playhouse to any parent. Mr. Kyle is a great teacher and has a wonderful program! He has so many engaging activities for the kids! My daughter is always excited to go to school. He takes them outside as much as possible in his wonderful backyard or at the park! He has a great temperament with the kids! I can't say enough good thing about The Playhouse. We started our son in the preschool program when he was 3 1/2 and now he's ready to go to TK (truly he's probably ready for Kindergarten but he has to do TK due to his birthday). The progress and development in our son over the last year is unbelievable. His letters, words, writing skills, and social development are a really impressive. He loved going to The Playhouse everyday. He made tons of friends and his social development with kids his own age over the last year was really great to watch. Big Kyle and his teaching assistants care about each child individually and developed such a great relationship with our son. Our son cried on his last day of preschool. My son attended the Playhouse Preschool full time from summer 2017 until going off to Kindergarten in the Fall of 2020. If I could have kept him with Miss Lynne longer, I would have! Based out of their home, the staff has created a wonderful environment for kids to learn and thrive. There is a daily schedule consisting of circle time, calendar, phonics, math, science, art, and many other subjects necessary to get your child kindergarten ready. The spacious and gorgeous backyard allows for the incorporation of outdoor play and gardening into the daily schedule. Meals and snacks are provided and consist of healthy and balanced nutritional choices. My son, who is about to start Kindergarten, is not turning 5 until the end of July, yet he already recognizes all of his letters and letter sounds. He is able to identify rhymes and beginning sounds. This is not something I have worked on with him, so I know that the credit goes to the excellent preschool program he attended. The staff is well educated in child development methodology and continuously seeks out additional learning and training opportunities to stay up to date. Furthermore, Miss Lynne is a stickler for rules and staying within compliance of mandated guidelines. This gave me peace of mind that all safety rules were being observed while leaving my child in someone else's care. I can't recommend the Playhouse Preschool enough, you will be hard-pressed finding a better place for your child. read more

I hope nobody else's poor child falls into the toilet or is mistreated while (successfully potty training at home) to then completely terrify them I to not wanting to ever go on the potty again, now a year later and still my daughter cries when I try to get her to go back to "potty on the potty". She is beyond terrified and her story remains the same miss Lynne "didn't hold her hand and she fell into the potty" my daughter would not have made this up. So a year later and I feel parents should know, I understand things happen but I asked Lynne about this numerous times and she began to tell me my daughter is just scared? Mind you she was NEVER scared before. So now she is also not truthful when accidents happen. Good luck hope this helps, also if anyone knows how I can help my daughter I would really appreciate it. I knew the moment that I toured the preschool and met Lynne that this was the place for us. My daughter has been at The Playhouse for almost a year now and absolutely loves it! Lynne and Kyle have a top-notch operation that encompasses everything that we value for our child: learning, play, health, wellness and building friendships and good manners. We had transitioned from a larger daycare/preschool facility and I couldn't be happier...at Playhouse they do lots of really creative art projects, have super healthy & fun meals for the kids, and have holiday events for the kids (just to name a few bonuses). I also feel that my daughter gets much more attention than she ever did at her former preschool. There are not enough good things I can say about this Preschool and teachers! I am a mother of three littles (6, 4 and 2 yo). I too value the importance of quality care as much as everyone else. After having our first born, I had searched long and hard for an amazing school where my child would be exposed to academics, art, socializing, playtime...one where my child would be truly looked after but more importantly a place I could trust, a place I would know my child felt safe and welcomed at. I was lucky enough to find all of this in this preschool. I had interviews set for a few different schools, but cancelled them after my first few conversations with Mrs. Lynne. She was very polite and always reached out to me very promptly each and everytime I had a question or concern-and this was prior to her ever meeting me or offering a spot. After many conversations, we finally had set a trial day for my child to come and be introduced to the school, to spend the day to see if it would be a good fit. I was hooked from that first day. Although I had fears leading up to this day of leaving my child in the hands of someone else, I knew immediately this was not just "someone else." Both Mrs. Lynne and Big Kyle greeted my child with such warm compassion. Stepping foot into this preschool you can see how all the children that attend receive the same loving care. These teachers truly do share a love for the children and families they care for. I have never once questioned my child's happiness or safety in this school! Parents that have more than one child, I assume you can agree that each child is uniquely different than the other(s). My children are no different. Lynne and Kyle not only welcome individuality and personal creativity, they recognize it, encourage it and celebrate it with each child. In a world that tries to make everything fit a mold, they applaud the children in their care for thinking outside the box and teach the importance of accepting others creative expressions. From art based projects, to farming, gardening, academics, learning of animals and various plants during their daily walks, to teaching the importance of rules and how to respect others, to yoga and nutritious foods...let me just say your child will be exposed to so much and your little one will be excited to share the knowledge they learned in preschool! I will never forget the day I went into labor with my second child. My oldest was in school that day. Lynne and Kyle adjusted their curriculum around that day to talk about babies, giving each child a pretend baby doll so each one would be able to hold their own 'new little brother or sister.' They always communicate well in regards to goals they aspire to with your child and their progress, as well as any concerns they may have. When my oldest was of age to enroll in Kindergarten, he was very well prepared! The Playhouse is awesome! We have had our child (a toddler) at a few other daycares\schools over the past 2 years and we are so happy that we moved our child to The Playhouse. They understand child development phases and needs. They work with each child individually along with building social interaction and teamwork. We noticed a few days after starting our child at The Playhouse that his speech was already improving rather than plateauing like it was at other daycares. The Play House is a gem among stones. I do not know where to start. When it comes to my children, settling is not an option.I have been referred to as someone with "unrealistic expectations" when it comes to looking for child care for my children. While I do not think this is necessarily a bad thing, I started to believe those who told me that and I wondered if perhaps I needed to give up and just find a program that was the " least bad". That is until I met Lynne and Kyle @ the playhouse. I knew something was different from the moment that I first contacted the Playhouse. She explained that she had a waiting list but still treated me like I was very important and spent quite a lot of time speaking with me and answering my questions. She then told me that when a spot opened up, she would contact me and set up a meeting so we could interview eachother. Some of you may think that is snobby but I like that she interviewed me and my child! I do not want the people that raise my children ( and are practically their second family) to not be picky! I like that she selects personalities that she thinks will jive and creates a group that she believes will help the children thrive and reach their fullest potentials. Not too much longer, she called me for our interview. I was so excited. I was so unhappy at my previous daycare that I had cancelled and was having to pay for daily childcare at my house which was so pricey. When I walked into the Playhouse, I immediately felt at ease. My shoulders let down and I let out a sigh of relief. FINALLY. My mama bear " spidey senses" went off saying "THIS IS IT!". The warmness was immediate and after looking around, I could see that she really really cared about learning. The first thing she did was set up a couple of activities for my daughter to play with. She had sensory activities set up for my daughter so we could talk. Silk putty and Slime was on the table. Markers were next to the activities in a cup. My daughter immediately goes for the markers and tries to start coloring on the slime. I tell her, no honey! Don't mess up the slime. Lynne replies. No, let her do it! We want her to express herself! I put it there because she is welcome to do so. WOW! My 2 year old instantly felt at home. We started the next day. She was so happy when I dropped her off and almost seemed disappointed if I came too early to pick her up! ( GASP!) Since then my 8 year old daughter has been also been going to the Play House after school. My oldest and I do not jive when it comes to doing homework. It got so bad that her grades begin to suffer. Now, she does her homework daily after school with Lynne and Kyle. They have the training and the extra patience to really help her thrive. Since she started the PlayHouse, her grades have went from C's and D's to all A's. The teacher asked me during our parent teacher meeting, what had changed? I kid you not. The PLAYHOUSE is the reason! Obviously, most of us want to be with our children during the day instead of having to pay someone else to take care of them while we work. But many times that is not a possibility. The Playhouse takes away the guilt and the worry. They truly love the children. They truly care. Lynne has a degree in child development and is often asked by the district to train other daycares. She and Kyle constantly go to workshops where they strive to learn more and more. This isn't a program where some mom didn't want to leave her child at daycare and decided to open one so they can be home with their kid. ( Not there is anything wrong with that!) I just was looking for more of a specialized and educational daycare experience. This is a program that has been well designed, has professional and educated teachers, and who truly loves and cares for each and every child. You will not be disappointed!!! If you are looking for an all day child care or for after school care for your older child, this is ABSOLUTELY the best. Take it from me. read more

Our daughter attended Playhouse Child Development center and we couldn't be more pleased. With a background in early intervention and child development, I was very specifically looking for a preschool that understood child development philosophy. I was looking for a program that allowed my daughter to take calculated risks, develop a sense of independence and exploration as well as learn pre-academic skills in a play-based setting. Children do not learn the same way adults do and require thoughtful, facilitated play that teaches in a play-based manner. Lynne and Kyle have really perfected this! My daughter always ate nutritious foods, felt safe and developed a sense of self. She's progressed in school and was very well prepared for kindergarten. I love that the kids get outside for as much as possible during the day including walks in the neighborhood (they have a great buggy that holds up to 6 or so kids as well). My daughter came home with open-ended art work, was awarded for coming up with her own hypothesis to various problems (even if they were incorrect). I also appreciate that Kyle and Lynne have continued to attend educational seminars and classes to keep up to date on the latest research in the early childhood education field. The Play house Child Development program is a wonderful learning environment! It is a small in-home in a quiet area. One of the things I love the most about The Play house is that there are children ages 18 months to 5 years working together. This helps the younger children learn so much more then having them separated into their own age group. I personally worked here for almost 6 months and admire her teaching style. I believe The Play house is one of the best learning environments I have taught at. Our child has been going to this preschool for a few years part time and we highly recommend this school. Ms. Lynne does a great job and having a good mix of play, learning, social time, art, and different experiences. We met Lynne and Kyle when we moved back to Lincoln and needed to find childcare for our 2 boys who were 2 and 3 years old at the time. We met with them and then cancelled our other childcare facility tours because we knew we had found the right place. Our boys have now both gone through her program for the last 3 years and have learned so much. Our now 5 year old is reading full books before he has even started kindergarten and our now 6 year old is thriving in first grade. Three years ago my husband and I had the opportunity to meet Ms. Lynne and enroll our son in The Playhouse Child Development Program. I knew it would be the right fit for us from the start. We have enjoyed watching just how much our now four year old has learned. His younger brother joined him a year ago and loves "Shishin" (Ms. Lynne) Kids are never too young to learn and I've been surprised many times at what my kids come home telling me. From the science experiments and talking about the weather, to the vocabulary words used in everyday conversations. The kids are also learning and enjoying all of the active outdoor play they receive. Ms. Lynne finds ways to motivate and engage each child. We love that our boys can play and learn together in a small and intimate setting. We appreciate the challenge and skill involved in the work she does and applaud the dedication.
