A big shout out and kudos to The Pond House. We held our High School Class Reunion there last night consisting of 21 people. It was phenomenal! Everyone raved about the food which was delicious and generously portioned. Everyone from the hostess, the wait staff, the kitchen staff, etc were exceptional! We even had 2 attendees who arrived late and the staff was able to promptly take their dinner orders and get their food out to them in a timely manner so they were able to eat with the rest of us. I have been eating there since it first opened they use to serve a T-bone that came on a plate by itself, have never ate anything never had anything from there that I wouldn't eat again. We stayed at the lake for the weekend and our last night there we ate at The Pond House. Had we eat here our first night I would have been there every night! The food was absolutely AMAZING!!!! There was not one thing we ordered that wasn't good! There grouper nuggets appetizer was 100/10, the shrimp was 100/10, their sides were AMAZING! We did not get one thing that wasn't PERFECT! I have not eat anywhere that even comes to this place!! We are so excited to get back to Lake Seminole just so we can eat here again! The Pond House was recommended by multiple people so we made our way out of Bainbridge and found this cabin like restaurant off a dirt road in the middle of no where. We were told to get there right when they opened at 5 otherwise we would wait for a long time. We had a table right away at 5 and within 20min, there was a line out the door. I went with the combination plate just so I could try a variety of options. I had the smoked pork chop, fried catfish filet, and a baked potato. It was all very good and the portions were massive for such a reasonable price. Our server was very friendly which seems to be the norm down in the south. The food took quite a while but the place was packed including a table of 15-20 people next to us. Overall, one of the better local restaurants according to the locals but average for tourists. My wife and I like to try different places and The Pond House looked to be a nice treat. We live in Tallahassee, so it's an hour drive, and the GPS had us going the back roads. It was a beautiful early evening and prior reviews recommended arriving at opening, so we left at 4pm. It turned out the GPS gave a nice country ride, which made the trip more enjoyable. The drive was about an hour long and put us just northwest of Bainbridge, GA. Off the pavement and on a short dirt road was The Pond House. Already the parking lot had a dozen cars, but only large parties were waiting outside. Nice quant place in the country, which was strange, it explains the hours of operation. We were greeted by person at the register and were nicely surprised when we got seated immediately. The restaurant has one large open area and one smaller area for seating, we got the larger. Nice open beam interior with fireplace. No booths, just tables and chairs. The restaurant isn't large, so if you have a large party I would call a day/s before and talk about a reservation? We saw one party of 10. Our server was really nice and asked if we had questions. She also returned to the table throughout our experience. Could not have asked for a better server. Rarely my wife and I ordered the exact same thing, but we did. Drink; Tea Dinner; Rib Eye (med rare) with baked potato and green beans. (We chose not to order an appetizer, we saw the size of the steaks coming from the kitchen, but they looked good coming out). There are crackers on the table to munch on prior to the main course, next time I'll order a salad instead of the green beans. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and as tender as the finest restaurant. I noticed a LOT of juice on the plate, a lot more than I would normally see*. The Rib Eye steaks were tasty, but quite salty. But that didn't stop us from enjoying, just more salt than normal. The baked potato was foil wrapped, obviously not microwaved, and extremely hot. The green beans were wonderful, hard to chose the next time; green beans or the potato. Served with dinner was a yeast roll each, good for soaking up the juice. No room for desert, but they had cobbler's and ice cream and key lime pie. Maybe next time. Dinner for two ended up just under $90 without tip, $110 with. * After getting home, I had a hour to think about it, I'm guessing the cook poured Au Jus on the steak. I think that's where all the salty taste came. But I'm guessing. Next time I'll ask and have it left off, or less salt seasoning added. I can see this review going 5 stars. My wife and I both agreed (OMG) that we would go back. Maybe leave a lot earlier and check out the area before dinner. No wifi and I didn't have phone coverage with T-Mobile. Out in the middle of a dirt road outside of Bainbridge is this log cabin-esque smokehouse/seafood restaurant. I was referred to the Pond House by a workout buddy. The decor is that of a cabin. Overall, it seems to be a small place. There is fireplace. The chairs remind me of classic days with old wooden chairs. They fit in with the decor but I find them uncomfortable. The menu has a solid combination of appetizers, BBQ, steaks, seafood, and desserts. I chose fried pickles as an appetizer. It took a while for them to come out. Service seemed to be slow and that.was a theme of the night. Anyway, the fried pickles were cut really thin and if it wasn't for the dill flavor, I would swear I would have been eating potato chips. BBQ is my favorite food so I went with the rib and pork combo. What I liked about the ribs and pork was that both were real easy to chew. What I didn't like was the chargrilled flavor. It seems that way makes the BBQ taste more greasy to me than smoking it. But overall, the BBQ was ok. I have had better and definitely a lot worse. The sauce was homemade with apple cider vinegar being a main ingredient. It went well with the BBQ. My 2 sides were slaw and sweet potato. The slaw was diced and mayo-based. It was about the sweetest slaw I have ever had. My sweet potato was small but my expectations might have been too high as I was thinking massive Outback-size sweet potato. The sweet potato was more like home than Outback and I prefer Outback. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet but my waitress left me sitting with an empty glass for too long more than once. I couldn't tell if she had too many tables to serve or was just not on her game. I would eat the Pond House again. I was told to get a pork chop or steak. This place has something for everyone in beautiful, comforting rustic setting close to Lake Seminole. We were looking for a restaurant to accommodate our party of 12 on a Friday night at last minute and this lodge like restaurant opened their doors for us and rolled out the welcome mat! This place has an upscale rustic feel to it with a menu that satisfied everyone in our group. Not really any vegetarian specific dishes but the salad and sides are very good. I will eat chicken when vegetarian main dishes aren't available and gladly the chicken was prepared well. It's hard to make chicken breast savory and moist but they managed to do it and even remarked to others how good it was, preparing to just pick at it. But If you're here for the meats, they have everything under the sun. But - last night my wife and I had our heart set on the filet mignon. not for $44 for one 8 ounce piece of meat. Sorry pond house, I can't afford your food any longer. It's good but overpriced. The wait to get in at the Pond House is going to be long if you're not there when they open but when you get your food you will realize it was definitely worth the wait! My husband ordered the fried shrimp and enjoyed it. This is the amazing part - I ordered the filet mignon medium well and it was a perfect medium well. My daughter ordered her ribeye medium rare and her steak was perfectly medium rare. Whoever cooks their steaks definitely knows what they are doing. They were also seasoned well. The sides were good too. The small yeast rolls that come with your meal are also very good but don't eat too many or you won't have room for the main course!! read more

We heard this place had great seafood and steaks. We arrived shortly after opening and were seated immediately. The others had steak and they really liked the steaks but the sauce was way too salty. I love seafood and since we were told the seafood was great I went all for it. I had the fried scallops as my appetizer. They were cooked to the correct doneness but were flavorless. My entree was fried catfish and shrimp with salad and cole slaw for sides. The sides and shrimp were perfect. Unfortunately, the fried catfish I was very greasy and the hush puppies were overcooked to the point of being very dark brown and almost burnt. The desserts were good, but they were served to us with half of our entree plates still on the table. The server was very friendly, but was obviously overworked. The table never did get cleared until after we left the restaurant. Because the steaks were so good we'll probably come back but next time I'll have the steak with the sauce on the side. read more

All the great reviews indicated a great dining experience was in store. Waitress was excellent, as were the salads, sides, and cobbler with rich creamy vanilla ice cream. Now on to the disappointment. Our ribs and chops appeared to have been cooked over a raging fire. Ribs were overdone. One pork chop was burnt the outside, and dry on the inside. I have no idea how anyone ever found this place to begin with, but apparently if you cook good food they will come. I ordered the pork chops, and the waitress let it be known I had made a great choice. They were definitely good pork chops. Huge and very tender with a nice smoky flavor and red eye gravy on the side. A little too salty for my taste though. And apparently you can't rush the smoking process, as it took our group an uncomfortably long amount of time to get the entrees... at least 30 minutes. This is our go to place to eat. The best cooked steak anywhere around here. Our church has our Christmas party here every year and they do a great job on a Saturday at lunch. The log cabin is great for all seasons. It has a fireplace in the winter but you better get here when the doors open to get a spot by it. I first heard about this restaurant at a Summer Church Camp from a speaker named Kevin Johnson. Kevin went to Auburn University which is where I am from. He spoke about how he and his buddies went to the Pond House and got lost. Most importantly he talked about to pork-chops, grits, and fries. Weeks later, 5 of my closest friends and two others started out on our adventure to Orlando with one thing in mind: we MUST stop at the Pond House. We arrived and parked in the grassy field (it was unknown to us that we had set foot on holy ground). We were waited on by Carlisle and we knew it was going to be heavenly when she brought out the sweet tea and rolls and left a pitcher on the table. The moment of truth came when the 20 oz ribeye and the pork chops arrived at our table. It would be rude of me to tell you how good this food was because no matter what I say, it will be an understatement. It's safe to say that this was the best food I've ever put in my mouth. Along with great service and a great atmosphere, this restaurant truly had it all. This was 6 months ago. Today is the day before my birthday and me and my friend just had to come back. It's a 3 hour drive to The Pond House from Auburn, Alabama. The ride down was quite terrifying because we were plagued with the thought of "what if it isn't as good the second time?" I am giving this place a little extra on the stars because it is beyond the beaten path and is the definition of a hidden gem. Clearly they have a loyal following of locals because when we walked in, I felt like everyone stopped what they were doing to look at us and clearly knew we were not from around these parts. Even with that being said, the service was beyond friendly! Clearly we all had to eat the smoked pork chops since they are a local specialty. Holy Smokes, lil piggies! This was one of the best pork chops I have ever and will ever eat. The red eye gravy only set it over the top. We also had the fried pickles to start which were awesome. I would say that this place is well worth being a destination restaurant. I am not sure there would be any reason to just find yourself in the neighborhood, but if in the vicinity go out of your way to eat here. We have heard of this restaurant for a long time and finally made a point to try it tonight. We are so glad that we did. Carlisle was our server and did a terrific job. She was personable, but not pushy. She knew everything about everything on the menu and helped make this a wonderful experience. I had a steak, cooked to perfection.
