Count me in! I'm excited about this addition to the OTR family. This place has character -- I feel like the building has a great history. I envision generations before us "bellying up" to the bar to pass stories with a hospitable bartender. I like the feel of this place. Warm and inviting. However, I will comment that the bartender we had was the opposite. (I'm not factoring her into my rating - I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she just had a bad day.) I ordered the fried bologna sandwich which was really delicious. Three thick slices of bologna (could've been fried a little more), stacked with mustard, cheese and caramelized onions. Unfortunately, the meat slid right out of the bun on the first bite. But I powered through. For a drink, I tried the Old Work Horse which was made with bourbon, ginger/maple simple syrup, lemon bitters. It was really tasty. I watched the bartender make their other house specialty, Pony Express. And while I didn't try the purple concoction, it piqued my interest enough to try it on a return trip. read more

I called to order pick up and they said i NEED to give a card over the phone and I was ok with that but then realized my wallet was in my car a block away. So I had to not order and go get my card and when I called back THEY DIDNT EVEN ASK FOR MY CARD. Truly ridiculous. The worst part was when I got there they were extremely rude and mean and they didnt have a normal place to pick up food I felt like I had to go above and beyond to get someones attention to get my food. I so wanted to love this place. The wings were exceptional. The most amazing buffalo sauce and spice to them. The fries were perfect and a great side to the wings and the meatball sandwich was flavorful .... but half frozen when we bit into it. When we were asked how everything was we stated the same and they just said "ok" to the fact that the meatball sub was still half frozen. No concern to the fact that it wasn't cooked fully. I would love to give this place a 5-Star review but simply cannot at this time. We even said if it weren't for the sandwich it probably would have been a 5! read more

First time ever posting a bad review on any platform. I went down there around 9:30 on a Saturday night after I got off work, stayed for 3 beers and was leaving. I went down to the end of the bar to close my table out. There were 3 people sitting down and 1 standing. They'll as I walked up to the bar, I ask the girl standing there, hey is it cool if I just cash my tab out. For zero reason at all she got very rude and aggressive with me and said NO this is for workers all. I just told her I'm trying to cash my tsb out. The other girl sitting down then was yelling and me saying I was in the kitchen and it's for workers only, clearly I wasn't even near the kitchen. They all seemed pretty drunk and looked to be off work. I asked her why is she being rude to me, when I asked If I could stand here and cash my tab out(which took about 30 seconds to do, because the bartend came right up to me with no problem.) they all were yelling at me to get the fuck out of there. Such a bizarre thing to happen for zero reason. Have zero desire to ever go back to that place. Take this for what it's worth, I wasn't drunk at all and still don't get why I was being yelled out and being told to get the fuck out for wanting to stand at the bar to close my tab out. I've bartended for a long time and downtown, I know how parts of OTR can be. A lot of places seem very select and if you don't fit in with their crowd of people, they don't seem to want you around. I absolutely loved the chicken wings. The buffalo flavor is the best. The fries are delicious. They have this house made ranch dressing that is absolutely marvelous. I went Friday night and again on Saturday night. I tried to go for lunch on Monday but they were closed during the day and did not open until 5:00. They also make pretty good drinks. I was super hyped to try The Pony after I found out it was wheelchair accessible. My first visit was pretty awesome. Got a table right away (only one is accessible so that was a big plus). Food was great! We had fish and fries and were super disappointed that we can only get it on Friday's. Drinks were served quick and everyone was very friendly. Sadly, service has dropped dramatically since that first trip. During my second and third visits It was very difficult to get the bartenders to serve us even though they were not crowded or busy. Last weekend we ended up leaving for another bar nearby because service was so poor. It was very disappointing. They have a great setup and wonderful atmosphere. I hope the staff can get back to their fun, friendly attitudes so that everyone can experience how great this bar can be. Until then, I'll just order carry out. read more

I've visited this establishment about 4 times now. Has been pleasant everytime. You walk in and go to the bar to place your order. Wings always crispy and seasoned really well. I would definitely get Cajun fries next time, (my friend did) will probably be back soon! read more

This may be considered blasphemous but the pony has the best wings in town (even better then knockbacks) in my experience. They don't advertise much but to me it's a place to get a good drink to help wash down the juicy, smoky, perfect wings. And the only thing that can improve perfect wings is delicious ranch and they take it upon themselves to bless there lucky customers with creamy saucy deliciousness. Interesting vibe, different than other OTR bars. It's like something I'd see tucked on the westside with the random decor of bar signs mixed with pictures you'd find at a thrift store, darts and tall booths on the wall. This is a pretty legit new hole in the wall-type bar (that's contradictory, I know) in OTR. We went as a stop on an impromptu birthday bar crawl. The drink selection was okay, my friends raved about the bar food (I didn't get any), and it was just a comfortable space to hang out around a table and have a few drinks. Nothing terribly unique, but not overly crowded or pretentious like some of the other OTR suspects. Given its proximity to other places in the area, I'm sure we will be back. read more

Went in for lunch because the sandwich of the month sounded really good. Bar tender was nice, and took my order. Service was pretty fast, but I think I was the first lunch order, so I'm not sure if that's the norm. I was really looking forward to the fried bologna sandwich, but was pleasantly surprised by the killer French fries. They were HOT and delicious. Sandwich turned out to be just ok, but I still enjoyed it. I'm not giving 5 stars because I think the price is out of line for what I got. $13.50 plus tip for an ok sandwich means I'm probably not going to stop in very often, but if another special piques my interest I might. read more

This was our first time at The Pony. We were not impressed. My husband and I went for burger week, we were excited to try a new place out and had high hopes. The decor was nice, with a 70's retro feel. I loved the high back booths, but the bench itself was hard and uncomfortable. The discomfort means it is not a place you will want to linger. The beer selection was disappointing, with only 4 taps. Yes, yes, I know some will argue it is a dive bar.....however, in this day an age of craft beer most dive bars have more than 4 taps. The food is mediocre. The bun was good, but slathered in oil. The burger lacked consistent flavor, and the first half was bland. I have definitely had much better burgers for less money. Lastly, the serve was not affable. I am excited about the growth in OTR and we always try to support up and coming businesses, but I doubt we will be back to this establishment. read more

I came here on a bar crawl during December. Their alcohol offering is odd. They carried Budweiser but not bud light. They also had a weird selection of available liquor. I couldn't get a good feel for the staff since they were running around assisting all of the bar crawl that came in. read more

However; My second time there my bill was messed up and then I was over charged. The male bartender was rude and inconsiderate. WORST MOSCOW MULE EVER!!! My drink was all lime juice. When I asked the bar tender if they had ginger beer to add a splash. He rudely walked over to grab a new can and showed it to me and said this is the ginger beer we used in it. The Mules I normally get are made with Alcoholic ginger beer and not some non alcoholic crap. The girl that made the drink then came over and asked him what's the problem and the bartender rudely said she doesn't like the drink.
