Prior to going to Pemberton I did my research, which means reading Yelp reviews to pick out places to eat at, and was happy to see that most reviews came close to my expectations. We arrived here after a long hike and with a big appetite. The decor is like a country bar in any other small town so nothing special. Our server was very friendly and super attentive; even though other Yelp reviews suggested otherwise. I ordered their Pemberton burger with a side of yam fries which was cooked to perfection. I also very much liked the fresh slice of provolone and the large quantity of yam fries. The food is very good. My husband had seafood chowder which had lots of seafood and was quite good. I had the chicken wings. Here is where my small complaint starts. When ordered, you pick a sauce. I asker our waitstaff if the Korean BBQ sauce was spicy. She said no it was not spicy. I ordered it on the side. When it came it was full of paprika or chili powder. I found it too spicy to eat. I told our waitstaff I could not eat it. She took it away full. She then suggested a maple BBQ sauce, I said fine and it was. Here is the kicker, they charged me .75 for an extra sauce. Amazing food but terrrrrrrrible service. We placed an order for drinks, and after 10 minutes of waiting the server came back saying "can you guys just order the same thing, it's too hard to prepare 3 separate drinks" - how do we even reply to that? I ordered the black and blue burger, which was satisfactory. The salad was gorgeous - topped with a nice Parmesan and delicious prosciutto. My wife ordered the seared tuna salad -- the tuna was seasoned and prepared perfectly. The salads saved our meals. The servers were the un-attentative in a nearly empty restaurant, and pretended to be busy the entire time we were there. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone until they make massive improvements to their service staff. read more

Well, this place was not at all what I was expecting. I figured it would be your normal kind of pub fare but I was SO wrong. I still can't believe the quality of food this place is dishing out. The warm Nicoise Salad was impeccable. As good if not better than any French restaurant. One of my companions had a Mussels special that was steamed in white wine, butter, garlic and herbs - so delicious. She drank up every last drop of sauce. My husband tried the Bison Meatballs that comes with a garlic butter sauce AND a red wine tomato sauce. I want to put that tomato sauce on everything! Seriously, just give me a big hunk of bread and some sauce. This place is worth the drive from Whistler - there aren't many restaurants in Whistler Village that can compete with this food! read more

I drive to Pemberton from New Westminster just to get their cheesecake! From the outside you'd expect some decent pub food, but you'd be wrong, it's really great food in there. The "Pemberton roasted vegetables" salad ( seasonal dish ) is mind blowing, the Salade Nicoise is a great option too. Their truffle poutine is also great. read more

We enjoyed breakfast at The Pony one morning, and dinner the next day; both meals were very high quality fresh ingredients and very well prepared. I understand from discussing with a local resident that the restaurant changed hands earlier in 2009 and is now operated by individuals with experience cooking in fine dining establishments. I would certainly say you could see this in the quality of ingredients and unique flavors. Overall, good selection of bene's for breakfast and other standard items, and dinner has a broad selection of meats and pasta, with fresh local veggies (and Pemberton potatoes of course). Wait staff was just ok; some were exceptional, others were somewhat dour - but the food and drink hit our table in a reasonable amount of time. I'd highly recommend based on our 2 trips there. read more

The Pony is a killer place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Their menu is a bit more upscale to a certain extent than Mile One Eating House but the folks at The Pony have really upped the ante for Pemberton dining with the new menu introduced just a year or two ago. Some say that the menu is a bit too fussy for the typical Pemberton diner with a few menu items most can't pronounce. Personally I think that Pemby could use a bit more upscale and a bit less burger but that's just me. That being said, their burgers really give Mile One Eating House a run for their money and the pizzas are just the very best. Don't forget about The Pony's breakfasts too. Wicked. I could see how service could really bog down here, but I've always been pretty lucky in this regard. And I've always had pretty good food. Last time I had the calzone- great. The selection of beers on tap is pretty good- Driftwood, Howe Sound, and some others mixed in. If it looks really busy and you see hordes of cranky people... probably best to move on. We wanted to try 'Mile One Eating House'. It was 6:30 p.m on a Monday and it was closed. So we went to The Pony. The pony has to mature to a horse before I and my friend would go again. The service for a drink was quick. The food order took considerably longer. We had read the reviews here so relaxed after we gave our order. We knew it might be awhile. A long while. We both ordered the steak. My friend ordered it with fries. I don't eat deep fried food so I ordered mashed potatoes. It cost me. $3.00 extra. That bugged me. The decor was pedestrian. Ordinary. The view was right beside the road. Sure the mountains looked majestic but who wants to suck on car fumes sitting on their patio. We tucked into our steaks and they were quite good but narrow. They both were rectangular slices and rather small. We each ordered soda water from the tap. Here's the shocker: With my 15% tip, the bill came to a whopping $68. That's right. Sixty eight frigging dollars. I asked the waitress why they couldn't have added a much-needed salad. "Ask management" she said. "Take it up with them." I will not go back in a million years. That same meal in Vancouver would cost $40. Save your money. read more

After some smug remarks concerning my kids desire for a plain cheese pizza, the waiter seemed bothered and unwilling to help our friend's child with some dietary restrictions. After a weekend of camping and eating outdoors, my boyfriend was telling me about this place that only uses local potatoes and bakes their own bread. We stopped in at the end of the brunch rush to find a flustered floor staff. Service was excellent apart from the waitors high stress load, but it quickly passed. I ordered the veggie benny, and my boyfriend had the smoked salmon benny. It was delicous. I saw other meals being served and it all looked amazing. We were looking for a restaurant close to our hotel in Pemberton. The Pony was the only thing that was open for miles and we were hungry. Initial impression was a your typical tavern serving beer and probably greasy burgers. However it was a delightful surprise, very tasty menu prepared in a very gourmet style. For example, the ceasar salad had a tender hardboiled egg, delicate dressing, large pieces of shaved prosciutto and Parmesan cheese. We also had the porkbelly with spiced apple compote appetizer and the brickoven pizza. The burger was not so good, too much pepper. Service is very good, the waiter was very interesting, personable and attentive. Wait time was a little long for food but I think we felt it more because we were hungry from skiing all day. Came here for dinner after a long day of working out in a remote community beyond Pemberton. The atmosphere was lively, even though it was just a regular Wednesday evening. Great dinner specials - seafood chowder, local mussels, a warm quinoa salad, etc. We received friendly, attentive, and warm service. The food was far better than I was expecting for a small town in BC - local ingredients, outstanding flavours, perfectly cooked. The dishes are on the pricier side, but the quality of ingredients is outstanding, and I immediately understood the pricing when I had my first bite. Highly recommended, hope to be back in the area soon to be able to warm up my belly again! read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would! We were a party of 8 coming for lunch. It was a long weekend but wasn't terribly busy. We waited 1 1/2 hrs to get our food. The waiter was rude and never checked on us or asked how our food was. He even missed the glass and poured water on one of our iPhones ... he did unremorsefully say sorry. Luckily my friend's phone had a waterproof case. I gave some feedback to the manager/owner but he didn't seem concerned or interested in making our experience any better. We left zero tip! Some of us went to pay at the bar/reception area because they didn't have mobile machines for credit cards while others paid cash at the table. We were leaving when the waiter approached us and accused us of not fully paying for our bill. I guess he didn't add up payments made at the front but fortunately we kept those receipts and we handed it to him then told him, he needs to learn how to do his job. OVER-PRICED NOT WORTH IT. Vegetarian menu has shrunk in size and offers very little except 2 pizzas, salad and a $20 small curry. They need to lighten up on the olives in the salad nicoise its a bit extreme. The service is a hit or miss. Their website has not been updated for so long it offers virtually nothing that is advertised it makes it hard when ordering take-out, (if you want to see an up to date one you have to go through Facebook). I'm a longtime local, this place is so over-rated the only reason it can get away with pricing their food like they're high-end is because there is only one other quality restaurant in town, that being Mile One and Mile One is so busy every night that some people give up on waiting and go to the Pony. If it was anywhere else with more competition it would be forced to either up their game or lower their prices. I've actually never sent anything back before.... until here, I'm not picky person but i had the most disgusting mojitio. It was here all lime juice (not fresh, bottled I saw him make it), sugar and a 2 half melted ice cubes and no mint. Its a shame because depending on who is making them, the mojitos, and other cocktails can be amazing (when the waitresses are in before the bartender shows up, go for afternoon drinks in the summer unless you plan to order beer with your dinner). While seeking gluten free fare in Pemberton, we popped in to the Pony. A quick glance at the menu made me think I wouldn't be too excited about my options as I was ravenous and was hoping for more than a salad. That said, the salad nicoise fit the gluten free bill, with seared albacore tune, egg, capers, olives, and fresh lettuces. The meal was very generous in size and more than filled me up. Every bite was delicious. All of the ingredients seemed to be of great quality. The best part is that they were able to use a clean pan / servingware to help avoid gluten contamination since I'm celiac. It was VERY much appreciated! When I asked her how long it'll be she replied with something like "do you wanna go ask the chef!?" This is by far the best restaurant in town. The hostess seated us promptly and our waitress immediately provided us with a menu and took our drink orders. There are an excellent selection of choices on the menu. Don't forget to look at the daily specials on the chalkboard near the kitchen! We sat out on the porch and there was more then enough separation between tables. Everything, including the restrooms were very clean. We ordered the seared Ahi Tuna salad, and the fish was was cooked perfectly, juicy, and tasted wonderful. The salad itself was plenty big and all of the contents were very fresh and tasty.
