Jon was really craving "comfort food" (chicken fried steak specifically), so we thought we'd give The Porch a try-- an Arlington staple that I'm surprised we haven't enjoyed yet. They serve southern favorites, breakfast, brunch, and lunch until 8pm. We couldn't get out and about so we ordered delivery, and our meal arrived hot and well-packaged. It all smelled sooo good. Jon's chicken fried steak was beautifully breaded and fried golden with plenty of gravy. He said it was super well-seasoned and that the mashed potatoes tasted fresh vs. powdered. Our server was Caitlyn, she was amazing at her job! She was very friendly. She recommended the Texas Scrambler and it did not disappoint.

I found this to be a pretty good restaurant. I got the chicken fried chicken with fries and mashed potatoes which is pretty good with favour and how it cooked. The service is pretty good with friendly staff. As for the inside, it looks both clean and nice looking. One thing is that the restroom are really heat and the A/C isn't the best. Stopped in for lunch and tried out the fish tacos and chicken friend chicken. Was it the best I've ever had... no. But it was good. I took my parents. The place was quiet and felt like a small home like feeling. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The prices were very reasonable. I read a recent review about cold bacon and watery salsa. Not a fair assessment. I've been here over 50 times and never had cold bacon or any bad dishes. We went for breakfast because electricity was out on 8/3/2024. Food was mediocre. This was supposedly guacamole/avocado toast on rye. The bread wasn't toasted and this guacamole/avocado tasted like the single serve packs you get at the grocery store. The ham was a piece of fried lunchmeat. Just go to Denny's or IHOP or just wait until your electricity comes back on and cook a homemade, better tasting breakfast. I must say the service was horrible, it took an hour for our food to arrive at the table, the food looked delicious However, when my husband picked up his bacon there was a big curly hair sitting right there on his plate with the bacon on top of it. Needles to say we got up showed the staff and if you can believe this, they asked us to come to the register to cash out. I told them that we are not paying for hair in our food. We went on a Saturday at around 10:30 am. This was our second attempt as last Saturday there was no parking. I live in the neighborhood and it's so strange to see how busy this place was. The inside appears to have been recently remodeled. The staff was friendly and we were seated pretty quickly. The inside was LOUD... I couldn't figure out why but it wasn't a place where you could really converse with the ppl at your table. The seating was awkward. The food was good...I will remember to ask that they not put the butter on the French toast for me. The home fries and eggs were delicious. I understand some people just eat and don't care to converse with others. I, however, consider eating out to be an occasion for enjoyment of the meal AND conversation. If you eat here, prepare to yell to others sitting at your table. The decibel level was too high for normal conversation, and this was after peak breakfast time. I know some places plan this so people will not linger too long, but think this was just really poor acoustics. Food was so-so, certainly nothing exceptional. Ordered three eggs scrambled and I'm pretty sure I got two. Had to ask for butter for my biscuit, but the biscuit was okay. Service was average, and we had to ask repeatedly for more coffee. Considering it is $3.50 a cup, refills should not be an issue. My group meets every Friday for breakfast and this place will not be one we go to twice. Man I used to love eating here. About a month ago or so, I went and things were just...off. My coffee mug was dirty, service was rough and it took forever to get coffee, creamer, my food you get it. I have been here several times so I thought an off day wasn't worth not coming back. So I did, last week. Again, things just felt a bit off. Like the whole place needs a really deep clean. Anyway, I found a hair in the yolk of my medium egg and didn't eat more than a quarter of my breakfast because, yuck. I told my server and she offered me $3 off. I feel like it should have been taken care of a bit better since it was their mess up. $3 doesn't even cover an order of eggs I'm pretty sure. Hopefully they can revamp a bit and get back to how they used to be but for now, I'm taking a break and trying some other spots. read more

Ok, come thru the Porch. You give me anything free... I am a fan! I was there on a Friday and the day's special was "all u can eat fried catfish". I unfortunately did not have time to eat all I could, so I just ordered one plate of fried catfish. We ordered a plate of biscuits (not my favorite!). Please order a plate of rolls instead, they are so much better, so fluffy. Our dear waitress brought us a wonderfully delicious FREE sample of chicken noodle soup, yum and thank you! Also, with all this home cooking, the desserts are not homemade. I love the mom and pop feel of the restaurant. I don't live in Arlington, but this was definitely a treat for me that day. read more

I had such a pleasant time yesterday. I woke up late and thought it'd be nice to treat myself to breakfast. The Porch was pretty high on the list of Yelp brunch spots so my expectations were up there. Walking in, I was greeted by the staff and seated quickly. My server came over smiling and gave me that "auntie's house" warmth. I ordered a triple stack of pancakes, sausage and hash browns. Everything was delicious and moderately priced. The interior was clean and the noise level wasn't too bad. All in all, I'd definitely go back. No pics because I was starving and on FaceTime with a friend so it slipped my mind. This place is really popular, and very credit on the weekends. The parking is terrible but that is expected out of a wonderful establishment like this. The coffee was good, the food was wonderful, but there are a few things that kind of make me hesitate from going back there again I get it. That is a great place and it's very popular but the parking situation is really a turn off Next is the staff, I could tell you that the staff members there are working fast and furious and will do whatever they can to help you out. But when we were seated finally, after a long wait, we waited a good 20 minutes before anyone took our order, but by the time the coffee came I had three refills before the food even showed up, which took about 45 minutes after we ordered. But when the food arrived it was great. No complaints. In fact, the food is awesome. It's just that with its popularity and the amount of people that they have on staff, I think I can find other establishments I can go to that will serve faster with Just as good quality. Would I go back again, I will hesitate before I commit. While the food was good, I just don't have the patience in finding a parking spot, then trying to wait and drink three or four cups of coffee before our food arrives. read more

We've been going here for a couple of years. Today's lunch visit was not a good one. My dinner roll looked like someone had taken a big bite out of it. My son's chicken fried steak was so tuff he couldn't cut it with a knife. Granddaughter order bacon Mac and cheese, got Mac and cheese no bacon. I ordered fried shrimp and got a mixture of shrimp and chicken, I don't know what's going on, hope they get their act together soon. For now I'm afraid we won't come back anytime soon. read more
