We love this place, but not a fan of a standing at the hostess stand for awhile while watching the apparent hostess walk food over to a table to eat before she seated us. Stopped in on way from San Antonio to Fort Worth. They were about to close(we made it with 2 minutes to spare) and when we found out, we said we would come back another time. They were insistent that we stay and eat. We ordered quickly as to not hold them up any longer. We ordered the Sunday special which was 5.99 burger and fries special. Homemade bun and fresh meat, one of the best burgers I've had in a long time!! This is Burleson's jackpot! Fast service, wonderful service and awesome food! If you would've asked me a year ago or so when I moved to Burleson I would've given them at least 4 stars. We've gone here at least 8 times and every time has been a gamble. Bad service, slow service, food quality is inconsistent, the list can go on. I love to support local businesses but it seems like they no longer care about their customers. I heard from one of their all star servers who took over our table after the other server just disappeared that they lost their entire cook staff and other issues with management. I gave them plenty of opportunities to redeem themselves. I don't plan on going back. I'll go down the road to Our Place. read more

By far my favorite place in town. It's home cooked meals so don't be in a rush. I had the French toast and it was great. My fiance had the works omelet and said it was one of the best he's ever had. Funny thing about The Porch is that you hardly ever see anyone sitting outside on the porch itself. That's okay though because you have to go inside to see what pies they've made each day anyway. Today they had coconut, chocolate, chocolate-coconut, pecan, and buttermilk. They also had a few cheesecakes and an Oreo creme cake to choose from. They have amazing breakfasts here all day - omelettes, pancakes, French toast, eggs, potatoes, biscuits, SOS, etc. They also have lots of entrees to choose from - burgers, chicken-fried steak, pot roast, fried chicken, liver & onions, pork chops, fish, shrimp, and many great sides to choose from. My wife and I came Sunday 6/18 for lunch after cancelling our order across the Street at Moontower Pizza due to terrible service. The staff at the porch was friendly. They took our order and brought us drinks fairly quickly. However we saw a party of 5 come and go in the time we were waiting for our food. Also the couple next to us got their food and they arrived 20 minutes after we did. I went inside to ask what the deal was and a guy told me he would check on our order. A few minutes later he came out to our table and asked us what we ordered. Obviously they never put our order in. So we left. We were there an hour and this was after putting up with terrible service at Moontower for 30 minutes. I'm giving the porch 2 stars because at least they seemed concerned about dropping the ball. Moontower got one star because they just acted like we were putting them out for being there. read more

This place is delicious. I am from California, and came here for breakfast with my friends from Texas. We got seated right away. The menu is huge. I got the French Toast with eggs, bacon, and home fries. The french toast was delicious, it wasn't too big and very moist. The home fries were delicious too! Everything was delicious. The best thing about this place is that it is very inexpensive. For a party of 3 our meal was around $30 including drinks. My friend got the fried pork chop and eggs, and loved it. The pork chop was humongous, and fried golden brown. My other friend got a meat lovers omelet, it was huge and packed with meat. Next time I visit I'll be back! read more

We really enjoyed our meal (French toast, biscuit and gravy, and a grilled cheese with bacon with some yummy Cajun ranch - yes they serve breakfast all day, which was great!), it was delicious. Love coming here and usually have great service. Today (6/18 - Father's Day) was horrible. Even being gracious considering the day, our orders were incorrect, drink refills were almost impossible to obtain, and parts of the order never made it to the table until after we finished. Our server dissappeared repeatedly for extended periods and others even stepped iup to hello us. When our server did appear she did not have any concern as to the incorrectness and missing items. Blame was placed on everyone else for why our order was incorrect. The food quality today was just average. All of this was overshadowed by the poor dining experience, lack of concern by the server, and trying to just get the basic meal taken care of. The server was observed moving around the rest of the restaurant, interacting with the hostess station, but seem to not care about our table. read more

My wife and I have been here 3-4 times and have never had a complaint about the food. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's just average. We've had breakfast and lunches. The service was always in the same range. Last week it was raining and about 45 degrees. We went in and was able to order, then discovered THE restroom was 'out of order'. We asked if one was available in the back thinking that the employees had a separate one we could use. The young waitress had to go ask the manager and came back a few minutes later and told us that we could walk across the street to another restaurant and use theirs. She said "yea I know, its raining". Incredible. We should have just got up and left since we had not received our meal yet. We ate and left and have pretty much decided that we wouldn't go back, not because we didn't like the food but because the management apparently does not care about it's customers. The chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken are bland. No flavor whatsoever and the gravy is from a mix. If you are looking for home cooking, this is not the place. The fried okra is the frozen breaded type. Their honey butter they serve with the rolls has an odd taste. The mac n cheese was the only good thing I had. The porch is a quaint little home cookin' joint in the Burleson Main Street area nestled in an aged home that has been repurposed into becoming a restaurant. When we were there, they were running an all you can eat catfish special. Well, sign me up! They served me a plate of fish hot & fresh from the fryer, complete with hushpuppies and slaw. Mrs. B had a wonderul plate of chicken strips herself. I requested an additional half plate of fish when I finished the first one, and they brought me out another plate with even more fish than the first one! I couldn't finish it all, and we had to take a walk around afterward to let my meal settle. Also, the pies they had showcased in the refridgerated display looked wonderful as well. Went with friends for breakfast. The restaurant is small & quaint. The selections were numerous & well explained. I thought the service was a bit slow but the food was well worth the wait. My friend had eggs Benedict & said they were excellent (hand poached. I had the breakfast quesadilla without an egg with bacon & onions added. I honestly can't remember if I've ever written a yelp review but our afternoon at The Porch compelled me to write one. I wanted to like this place but our experience was pretty bad. I ordered the jalapeno mushroom chicken - there was not one jalapeno on my plate. There were giant chunks of pepper under the sauce and I was surprised that there was really no heat to the dish - I realized about halfway through eating that the peppers in question were not jalapenos but bell peppers. The chicken breast was pounded flat and breaded, chicken parm style, which was fine but not what I was expecting (the other chicken dishes specified in the description "breaded" or "grilled" - this one did not, I should have asked), and had several weird bits of gristle when I would bite in. My husband got the veggie plate - black eyed peas (it was New Year's Day), green beans, mashed potatoes, and grilled veggies. The grilled veggies were delicious - probably the best thing on the table - but swimming in butter sauce, leading us to think they were actually sauteed and not grilled. The green beans tasted alright but were waaaay over cooked, to the point of being more limp than canned green beans. The black eyed peas were cold and not cooked all the way, and the scoop of mashed potatoes was cold in the center. We should have complained but we were on our way to catch a movie and it seemed more trouble than it would be worth. Other reviews complain about the service - our service was good, but as others have mentioned the cleanliness needs some attention. If we were to ever go back, which is unlikely, I would order from the breakfast menu, as that seems to be their specialty. Worth noting - I was not expecting alcohol to be served but when we asked our server she told us it was BYOB read more

Judging by your picture Michael S. you wouldn't know good food if it hit you in your face. The Porch is anything but bland...the CFC and CFS are hand breaded with a good flavor. The gravy is country style cream gravy, and guess what, it taste likes gravy!! Good luck with the rest of your restaurant reviews, I will make sure I try anything you dislike! I tried The Porch three times before writing this bc I really wanted it to be special. On our most recent trip we arrived around 11:45 on a Sunday morning. The indoor area was full but no waiting line. We chose to eat outside. It took at least 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order and another five to deliver the drinks and then take our food order. We waited 40 minutes on our food to arrive. The food has just been average bkfast food each time we've gone...nothing special. The portions are large. The pancakes are dry. The best thing about each of our visits has consecutively been the bacon. The porch needed a power wash and there was a slight odor of something dead under one section. I'd love this place to be better, but it's just not. read more

We are new to Burleson and wanted to try a local place for a late lunch on a Thursday. The hubby and I were craving chicken fried steak and this looked like a cute place. The waitress was very friendly and welcoming and it happened to be half price day (buy one meal get the other half price). We ordered chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and I had a side of onion rings. My daughter had catfish and my son had a kid's hamburger. The food was great! We loved the CFS and the onion rings were great. The mashed potatoes were plainly homemade and fresh. My son's burger was huge and he loved the bun..looked homemade. I've eaten here pretty often, and it's always just okay, but today it was not good all the way around. I asked for lightly scrambled eggs and got very overdone eggs, I asked for crisp bacon and got soggy bacon. The pancakes were okay. I waited 25 minutes for my breakfast and the place was not busy at all. Also no one was around to ask for drink refills. I had to wait on my ticket to pay for another 10 minutes after I finished my meal. I was really disappointed in this restaurant today! read more

Took my wife and son this morning for breakfast. Forty dollars later...I'm very disappointed! Juevos Rancheros, a Skillet Scramble and Ribeye Eggs Benedict, two cokes and a glass of water. For forty dollars! Really? If the food and/or service would have been even somewhat average, I might have been OK with the price, and maybe given them another star (or two). The juevos were excellent. Everything else, including the service, was sub-par, at best. Ordered extra crispy hash browns...they were slightly warm and not brown at all. Hash browns on my wife's dish were cold and white...not done at all. The paper-thin ribeye on the Eggs Benedict was tough and dry and the eggs were poached hard. His home fries had good flavor but, again, they weren't browned well at all. We sat, looking at half-empty plates for about ten minutes before the waitress brought our check and didn't bother to remove the plates or fill my empty water glass. I mentioned earlier about the hash browns and she offered a mild apology but did nothing about it. No manager visit...nothing. I understand a busy Sunday morning, but we were actually seated immediately and our order was taken promptly...took about 25 minutes to deliver the food however. I like the atmosphere and decor, and, as I mentioned earlier the Juevos Rancheros were excellent...but I probably won't be back. read more

My daughter and I visited The Porch this morning. Our plan to try a new hole-in-the-wall place for breakfast while we made our Thanksgiving grocery list and it was not at all what we had expected. First- we were NOT treated like family when we walked in the door. We walked in, waited for a minute (long enough to decide if we should go or stay feeling out of place) wondering if we were to seat ourselves or be seated by a hostess. Second- the customers who were enjoying their meals and company stopped their talking and laughing and looked at us as though we were not from around here (think New Yorkers who are lost or exotic zoo animals) Someone tells us to sit where we want so we do. NO ONE came to help us for a few min leaving us to ask each other if we should leave (we should have left) and then a young man comes to see how we are and to take drink order and asks us if anyone has done this yet. Third--coffee is everything! The coffee was terrible, the food was nothing special and I cook better at home and it was seriously over priced for the eggs Benedict served to us. I loved the idea of this home being turned into a restaurant but it's was very disappointing and miss leading. It's dark and gloomy unlike the pictures on here are showing and while waiting for our food we got the strongest smell of Clorox! Ugh! Who wants to smell cleaning products while eating breakfast?! We ate some of our meal, paid and left. Decided we could get better coffee and food elsewhere and we were definitely NOT treated like family.
