Today my family and I went to The Porch for lunch! First off we waited a few minutes just to ask for a table and then asked if we could have the table cleared for outside since it was a pretty day. When they finally cleared the table. My family and I sat down to wait 10 minutes with only one waitress in sight never come to our table. My husband finally went inside to see if we could get some help. The manager said he would send someone. Finally we got a waitress but when she came to the table she said I am sorry but I just got on shift. We were taken back. We went ahead and order drinks and food. Which the drinks took another few minutes. The only thing that saved this place was the food was amazing. Horrible service but great food! read more

We have been here a few times, they serve breakfast all day. (Which is a hit with my kid) I ordered the lunch grilled chicken, which comes with 2 sides, I got double grilled veggies. The chicken is great, moist and well seasoned, the veggies were good just too many bell peppers for my liking. My sister got the breakfast sampler, 2 eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, and pancakes. (Which she shared with my kid) she enjoyed her meal, as my kid did his pancake. We were about half way though our lunch when the waitress dropped off the check, without even asking if we needed anything else. I get it, most people like to eat, pay and get out. But it wasn't even a thought to see if we needed anything else, and it was half priced pie day. So, when we were done eating, we ordered pie. My sister ordered pecan pie, which she said was good, I ordered buttermilk pie, which sadly was disappointing. Anyways, we will be back again as we enjoy the food, maybe I'll try a different pie next time. read more

This little café is always great! The food is fresh, homecooked and delicious. The service is always wonderful. We have had breakfast, lunch and dinner and are never disappointed. My favorite would be the Greek omelet. Absolutely delicious and loaded with spinach and feta cheese. The grilled salmon is also a favorite. The prices are very fair. My first two times at the porch I had the Texas Scrambler on a Saturday morning and the Chopped Steak on Wednesday night both were wonderful meals. The employees were very courteous the room was clean and the atmosphere was charming. I highly recommend the broad menu and the well cooked food. read more

This has been a go to spot for my husband and I for a year now. We absolutely love every single thing on the menu. It blows my mind that everything is homemade, especially for having such a large menu. I'll have to agree with so many of the other reviews that stated the food is fairly good, but the service is not. Everyone was pretty happy with their food and the portions were good. Our group was often forgotten about despite it not being super busy. Drinks stayed empty for most of the meal and a few of us had to remind the waitress that we hadn't gotten our drinks to begin with. We got charged for stuff that was supposed to be included. I showed her on the menu where it said hash browns were included and she agreed...and then, in the end, she still didn't take them off the check! I recommend this place if you want some decent home style comfort food, but you're rolling the dice on being frustrated. read more

Went here for lunch before an appointment I had with a client in the area. What a treat! This place is nice and quaint, with so much charm. Waitstaff was very friendly. Asked for recommendations and the waitress, Stephanie I believe, recommended a few things. One of her recommendations was The Cuban sandwich....OMG it was sooooo good. Very disappointing...I had Chicken Fry and eggs. The eggs had the nasty crust around them and the yolk was a pale color, the chicken fry was from the night before cold ,hard and tough.the hashbrowns were chewy and uneatable and the "butter" they give you didn't melt on anything. The staff were friendly and fast with taking our orders and seating us. They all wore masks. The food was average. We got the Denver and The Works omelets. The vegetables were charred but raw which I wasn't a fan of. But we did get a side of pancakes and they were really good! The food is great, but when you come in the door you have to wait for the hostess to finish her text and stand up from the table where the waiters/waitresses are sitting to seat you. After you're greeted by your waiter and given your drinks he disappears into the kitchen where you can see him eating rolls and flirting with the other servers. The servers and hostess sat at a table in the dining room watching videos and gossiping the entire time we were here and I observed another patron have to bring her check to her server. In my experience as a server phones were never allowed on the floor for these reasons Management: don't allow your servers and hosts to have their phones at work, it makes your staff lazy and inattentive read more

The food was great! But as we sat there, on a Saturday at lunch, two of the waitresses had a conversation by the pie/cake display. We were sitting about 15 feet away and overheard their conversation. At one point during their conversation, one waitress asked the other about the "rainbow cake" they had for sale. One waitress said to the other "I wish we would hurry up and sell all of the rainbow cake, it makes it look like we support something we shouldn't". We made the 25 minute drive from west Fort Worth to try The Porch and were not disappointed. Opting for breakfast, my wife ordered the meat lovers omelet with home fried potatoes and toast. First of all I would like to say that I was terribly disappointed with this place. The day that we visited they were having some major communication issues and were terribly unorganized in general. As we entered we were greeted by The Porch's one friendly employee that promised to seat us and then promptly forgot. We waited about 45 minutes (as quite a few tables cleared) and a couple walked in and were immediately seated. Then they remembered us... you could see the "oh yeah we have other customers" look all over their face. On a side note if you are a surly, antisocial teenager then waiting tables is probably not the job for you, however The Porch in Burleson will hire you. That pretty much sums up our waitress who also had 0% knowledge of the menu and never once refilled my beverage. Their veggie burger sounded promising (with avocado on a ciabatta) but ended up just being bland. The hubby ordered a blackened fish thing that was more slightly seasoned than blackened and very fishy tasting. I thought that the food was going to make up for the bad service but it just ended up being bad. If you want my advice run far, far away from this place. Apparently this is the place people in Burleson like to meet for business. I've been invited here 3 times, each time for work-related purposes. The first time I went there I was with two local police officers, so maybe that's why we had great service. Or maybe it's just because that's how they do it there? We had a sweet older waitress and she reminded me that this is what small towns do that make me smile: little local restaurants with sweet old ladies pouring tea and coffee like they've been doing it their whole lives, and serving up some southern hospitality. I can't remember what I had for breakfast, but can you really go wrong when it involves biscuits, gravy or sausage? Not really! I LOVE breakfast, so maybe I'm biased, ha. I've also been for lunch twice, and it's just great southern cooking. I think I've had the daily specials, one of which was like half a baked chicken. It was delicious, and I have a feeling that if I had a grandmother from the south, this is what her cooking would taste like. The place isn't much to look at, but you wouldn't expect much anyway. The prices are great, service is good, and I give extra credit to the locally-owned small-town restaurant trying to survive against the nasty chains out there. Keep it up! read more

The food here is good and plentiful. My stepson and I were in the area and wanted to grab breakfast quickly. He had the Hangover omelette, which was an omelette topped with chili (sounds gross, but I tasted it and it was actually pretty good). It came with hashbrowns, bacon, and pancakes, all of which my stepson thoroughly enjoyed. His plate also included a couple of stuffed jalapenos, which were some of the best stuffed jalapenos I have had in a long time. I had the chicken fried steak with all of the extras, eggs, hashbrowns, and pancakes. All of it was great. Neither of us could finish our plates and the meal was only $20 (no drinks, just water). Pros: Friendly service, decent prices, and clean environment. Cons: I went for breakfast and it was lack luster. I had French toast which was clearly made with regular sandwich bread, the bacon wasn't crispy, but very oily which mixed in with my hash browns...however the eggs were scrambled well. The coffee...negative... Maybe I should have gotten pancakes since there are a few good reviews on those but my breakfast left much to be desired. Maybe it was a bad day for the cook???? The service was terrible. My husband and I were very disappointed that we couldn't find anyone to help us since it was our first time. 3 or 4 employees walked right past us at the front entrance before we were helped. We chose to sit outside on their patio, and the server said they didn't have any menus to give us! That their menu was inside posted up on the wall or we could walk out onto the sidewalk and read their menu that was nailed to the side railing of the porch. Keep in mind it was probably inching 90 degrees outside. She also said there was a bar code or something of that sort on the other table outside and we could scan it and "MAYBE" the menu would pop up but she "wasn't sure". At this point we were really annoyed because we had been waiting so long and they couldn't even bring us a menu. We finally ordered after standing in the hot sun, and the appetizer was actually good and hot. We ordered fried pickles. But our entrees weren't great. The chicken fried steak had soggy breading and it was falling apart. I was very disappointed in the green beans and Mac n cheese. There was no salt or flavor in the green beans. The broth in the green beans literally tasted like water. The Mac n cheese tasted like the cheese was watered down. It was very bland. Husband said corn was good but the mashed potatoes were okay. He liked the complimentary bread and butter. Overall very disappointed. Staff needs to be trained better and needs to be more professional. Also it'd be nice if they played some music outside or had some fans out there. It would've made the experience a little better. read more

A hidden little gem nestled up in Burleson's Old Town. I almost hope the word doesn't spread -- ok, that was selfish of me, but well, I don't want to have to brave the crowds. First of all, the employees are so sweet, it'll make your teeth hurt. The homemade pies probably fall under that category as well. I've really only made it for breakfast each time I've gone and that was great! Big breakfasts, little prices. Pretty much standard for what you'd expect for breakfast. But it's really more about the people and the atmosphere. If you go during pretty weather, they have a great deck outside that sits under the trees. If your grandma had a house with a big deck in a pretty, older neighborhood, then well, go eat at her house. If you don't, go eat here - they won't make you feel guilty, tell you the same story for the 1000th time or chastise you for not cleaning your plate either. read more
