Was visiting Council Bluffs when we came across this place. It's a bar and grill type restaurant. It was a little bit busy for being a weekday. The server came right away to give us menus. They have pizza, burgers, sandwiches, and gourmet style Mac & cheese. I ordered pickle fries for the table. Came with ranch dressing. They were tasty with a nice outer crunch. I also got the Smash burger mac & cheese. It was like a big Mac exploded on my mac & cheese minus the bun. It was very good with beef, pickles, onions, and thousand Island dressing. Wow! Who would a thought! Over at CB for a funeral and yelped "bars w good food near me" this place popped up so we gave it a shot. SO GOOD! I had the prime grilled cheese w their special homemade horsy sauce! It was amazing. My bride had the cheeseburger and loved it. Our waitress was Abby and she was a sweetheart and very accommodating. Still good food, but a payment issue gave me some stress. I've been coming here since they opened in 2020 and have been a pretty loyal customer. The food is consistently good, portions are very adequate, and the staff has always been friendly. Recently, though, I ran into something with their card processing that caused some concern. About a week ago, I placed a pick up order and paid (including tip) with my debit card. Historically, my bank will have two line items for this restaurant; one for the bill and another for the tip. This time, there was a line item for the full bill (including tip -- processed) and a separate line item for the tip (pending). So, the hold on my account essentially reserved a double tip. I expected the pending transaction to fall off pretty quick, but it hadn't several days later. When I called yesterday, the person I needed to speak to wasn't in, and they were supposed to call me this afternoon. I haven't heard from them. The pending tip did drop off during the night. Thankfully it was just a tip, but several days without access to those funds might cause a problem for some customers. I wanted to flag this in case it helps them sort things out with their POS provider. Moving forward, I'll probably opt to carry cash for the tip to avoid a similar glitch. read more

The porch is a nice place across the river in Council Bluffs. We came after seeing a food review on tik tok and had to try their Mac and cheese. The restaurant was not busy for a Tuesday afternoon. Great Food & Lively Atmosphere! We had a great time at The Porch on a bustling Friday night! The atmosphere was loud and lively, which added to the fun. They had multiple TVs playing a mix of sports, news, and even home repair shows--something for everyone. The food was delicious! I had the macaroni and cheese with steak tips, while my guests shared a pepperoni pizza, and we all split the chips and cheese. The pizza was definitely large enough to share between 2-3 people, cooked through, and served piping hot. The cheese sauce for the chips tasted just like the one from the mac and cheese--rich, creamy, and delicious! It was fun to compare, though I'd probably recommend choosing one or the other rather than both in one sitting. I went to the Porch this past Friday to grab dinner and drinks with a couple friends and it was a good experience. When I arrived, my friends already grabbed a table so I sat down. The waitress came by and took my drink order, and then she came back and grabbed my food order. They were very nice as I was pretty indecisive on what I wanted so I appreciated that. (Happens too often to me.) I ordered the All Seven burger, $16, which was a monstrous double bacon cheeseburger and the tots; (ya know I dominated it.) The burger was really good but wished the meat had some sort of seasoning like salt and pepper as the meat itself was a tad bland. But the meat was juicy and fresh. The tots were perfectly crispy. I ordered a couple White Russian's and they were pretty good as well. There were three waitresses there and a couple times we had all three waitresses come ask us if we needed anything a few minutes after another, which was nice to see them on the ball, but it was a little much. It's not often that I give 5-burger reviews but I severely under estimated The Porch... We ordered starters, however they brought it ALL at the same time. So we had a one course meal! We snagged the Steak Bites ($13) and the Gouda Mac n Cheese Bites ($12). T LOVED the steak bites, and ate them all! Just tiny cut up pieces of sirloin (5oz maybe?), and served with two toothpicks. Flavor wise, "very flavorful"... tender, and juicy. The Horsey Sauce served with it, had a good zing, and it was SPICY. Neither of us thought $13 was an appropriate cost but we do realize the price of meat isn't lowering. In between, I - of course - ordered a drink... pleasantly named, Orange Peal. A drink that screamed patio! Gouda Mac n Cheese Bites ARE worth their $12 price tag. I could've eaten my weight in them. Warm, crunchy, cheesy, noodly, and served with a spicy ranch; which oddly, I COULD handle it thankyouverymuch. We shared the last one, cause I'm pretty sure we wanted to be selfish. We split the All Seven $16, and damn that egg yall. It just puts the burger on a different level. Next time, I'M BRINGING PEANUT BUTTER. Juicy, eggy, baconey, crisp pickle, drippy, small slivers of onion, and that bun is no ordinary bun folks. Well worth the $16. *don't tell Dinkers, shhhh*. Served with your choice of side, and of course the sweet potato fries; those alone 10/10. 10-freakin-10. We saw our waitress once, and THATS FINE considering we were the only couple on the patio. We started with the cheese balls (their version of cheese curds). They were super warm and delicious, with great ranch. Let me start by saying the service was very good -- everyone was extremely nice, and I appreciated the staff very much. What was lacking was the food. I tried the potato bacon soup, and it was watery. Undeterred, I then ordered the pizza -- I detected freezer burn from the dough.
