I just moved to Mount Dora from Winter Springs and newly adopted 2 cats. This is the most god awful experience I and others there suffered! Literally my 2 cats and I have PTSD! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE PLEASE! They are also so unsanitary. They do not clean exam/exit rooms or tables after each pet. Just think of the contagious variants that your pet can catch. My cat wound up having coronavirus that can turn deadly, and they acted like, oh well. They sliced her open for no reason, or I should say for $4,000, and my cat still is not healed. If you want to deal with rude staffers that blatantly talk about you, deal with used car salesmen and open your pet up to unsanitary conditions, then go, but otherwise RUN!

They didn't make me feel judged for letting them now about the situation which is super appreciated and even offered me a left behind one for a previous pet to keep. I came to visit because my baby had been having symptoms of a uti. I explained the issue to them and also explained that I didn't have the biggest budget at the moment and they were very understanding and made sure to check the prices with me before treatment while making sure I knew my cat was getting the help she needed. Everyone was kind and helpful and patient with me. I get just as nervous as my animals when we go to new places. They were so happy to help and even got a free Tee shirt! I want to make other dog parents aware so no one ever has to go through what we went through this past week. My 10 year old schnauzer has a large mass/growth in her belly that has to be removed. The growth is causing her pain and is very large. I took my dog to shamrock FOUR times over the past two months in regards to this growth and preparing for the surgery. Her surgery was set for Thursday the 6th (today) at 9:00am. They gave me a quote of $1500. As I was looking over the quote I noticed that on the day of surgery she would be getting a bordatella vaccine. I called on Monday morning to ask why would you give my dog a vaccine that takes anywhere from 5days to 2 weeks to be effective!?!? Why wouldn't they give it to her one of the 4 times I've been there over the past month?! Not only will the vaccine not be effective it can also cause serious complications with anesthesia and the recovery process after having surgery. The woman that answered the phone had zero concern about my questions and said it is a normal practice to give a dog a vaccine the morning of surgery and said she would bring my concerns to the vets attention. No call Monday or Tuesday. I called Wednesday and had my dogs records transferred to another vet. A dog should never have a vaccine the day of surgery because it can cause serious complications also there would be no way to tell if the animal was having a reaction to the vaccine or if it was from the surgery. My dog was supposed to have surgery TODAY but due to the severe lack on Shamrocks behalf her surgery will be postponed until she sees her new vet today and we set up her surgery for as soon as possible. It concerns me very much to know that Shamrock thinks it's ok to give a dog a vaccine the day of surgery! It's also a huge concern that after being a client for 20 years not one of the three doctors could take the time to call me and discuss my concerns or attempt to resolve the problem. Now my dog has to be in prolonged pain and discomfort because no one at shamrock though it was important to contact me to set up a resolution so she could still have her very needed surgery.

He is well known in the area of Altoona, Florida. Dr. Burba is extremely knowledgeable, caring, respectful, friendly, and so much more that I could never how I feel into words.. If you are looking for a veterinarian, who will love and care for your animals, the same way that you care for your animals, this is definitely the Veterinarian for you. I normally do not write negative reviews, but my experiences have been consistently frustrating, and today was the last straw. Back in November, I brought my dog in for his phenobarbital bloodwork, and I was told multiple different instructions; first that it had to be done at a certain time, then that I had to bring him back hours later. As a healthcare provider with a demanding schedule, this created unnecessary disruption, but I still tried to be understanding. Today, I arrived for another scheduled appointment, only to be told after sitting there from 8:06 to 8:45 that he did not actually need his phenobarbital levels checked until next month. If that was the case, why did the front desk schedule the appointment in the first place? My time, energy, and travel should not be wasted due to internal miscommunication. To make matters worse, I was also told today that my dog had not had his annual labs since 2023. That shocked me because I have been coming here consistently, and no one has ever mentioned this before. Hearing that in 2026 makes me question how closely they have actually been monitoring his care. If they are at "full capacity" or overwhelmed, then clients deserve transparency and not to discover years later that something so basic was overlooked. What pushed this experience into unacceptable territory was the manager's response. Instead of approaching the situation as professional an educational opportunity or even showing concern, his posture and body language made it clear he did not care. No ownership. He simply said that if we're "not lining up," maybe I should find another vet. I have never encountered an office manager so dismissive of legitimate questions and concerns. If this is how issues are addressed, I can only imagine how many other clients are dealing with the same inconsistencies. Veterinary care should be grounded in communication, accuracy, and genuine compassion for both the animals and their owners. The lack of consistency here makes you question the level of attention being paid to diagnoses and treatment. It is unacceptable and deeply disappointing for a clinic I trusted for so many years.
